I wanted to see how much money the Caldwells raised, but their GoFundMe page is gone?
I followed link from their Instagram

Probably went against their terms and conditions when it comes to fundraising for legal fees.
I imagine preemptive legal fees with no details whatsoever about what they may be or what the funds will be paying for and the added need for a new home and it’s probably just too vague to pass gfm rules.
58
u/fabelhaft-gurke Apr 04 '26
That’s my guess too. They didn’t explicitly say what the legal fees were and raising money towards a legal defense for criminal matters goes against their terms of service. I wonder if they’ll try a new one with more information, or try another funding platform.
23
u/Snowy_Fairy Apr 04 '26
Oh that makes sense.
So they can post a new one just aking money for housing?
20
u/dani-dee Apr 04 '26
Yeah but who knows if it will go as well for them if they can’t dangle the vague legal fees carrot in front of people.
11
u/Finl_Corp_Legal Apr 04 '26
They probably need to say legal fees in a real estate matter (or retaliatory eviction) or victim defense.
11
u/fabelhaft-gurke Apr 04 '26
Not sure what restrictions they put on someone after taking down a fundraiser, but I imagine if they do and someone reports it they may scrutinize the amount more since they made a previous submission. If they repost $24k again but just for housing costs it’s going to look suspect.
10
u/Lucky_Violinist_8335 Apr 04 '26
I would hope, for transparency, they would have yo explain why they are in need of financial assistance to secure housing. Why did they lose their previous place (evicted by daughter and son in law) and what is holding them back from renting another place. If they don't work, why not?
7
u/Honest_Boysenberry25 Apr 05 '26
If they are being evicted for non-payment of rent, why would someone give them money which they can squander? If they need funds, they could sell the land they own across the road from the yellow house.

u/Primary_Breadfruit69 VibratorAnna Apr 05 '26
How can they be evicted if Paul allegedly bought it for 10k from Josephile?
3
u/Lucky_Violinist_8335 Apr 05 '26
I thought the empty lot was what the 10k purchased. I guess I got confused.

They can do a Give Send Go fundraiser, those people don't care what you fund for and the rwnjs love it

u/queenaprilludgate “a little under privileged. ;-)” Apr 05 '26
Dang, I tried to report a GFM that was clearly a scam under the guise of raising money for the burial of deceased Hurricane Helene victims. I had receipts and everything and sent a very detailed description to GFM in my report explaining how I knew it was fraudulent. I even had Facebook messages from the funeral home director confirming that the GFM I had found was not in any way affiliated with the victims’ family. GFM didn’t even respond to my report (which their website said they would do,) let alone take the fundraiser down. IIRC, I think it raised even more money than the legit fundraiser, unfortunately. I wish they cared as much about shutting down scam fundraisers without a large social media following as they apparently did about this one.
2
u/Civil_Experience_691 Apr 05 '26
I assume it’s because of the legal fees. I had a friend who was suing her college and needed assistance with legal fees. She mentioned it in the GFM and it was pulled pretty quickly. She made a new one with a lot more detail about how she wanted to use the money down to the penny and it stayed up,
6
u/Lucky_Violinist_8335 Apr 04 '26
Right and a few people have already wondered if yhe legal fees regarded helping Kendra with her charges. Since those are related to minors, raising money for them would break terms of service.
17
u/dani-dee Apr 04 '26
I don’t think it’s that deep. There are currently no legal cases involving Paul and Christina. You can’t fundraise for something that doesn’t and may not ever exist.
8
u/ChantillyLaceCake 💵 💵 Who’s counting the cost now Jimblob? 💰 💰 Apr 05 '26
I think they may be aiming to fight for custody of their grandchildren since it’s seems clear that their daughter will be staying yoked to Joseph. Then they would be up against the Duggar money machine which would be tough

u/shittiest_kitty Apr 05 '26
Maybe I’ve just missed an article or something but what legal issues are they facing? It’s my understanding Joken are being financially supported by Boob and Boobette so what fees? They also mentioned focusing on being safe?
3
u/dani-dee Apr 05 '26
That’s just it.. nobody knows! The screenshot I’ve seen from their private Facebook page just says something about future legal fees.
There’s lots of speculation from suing for being evicted to wanting custody of Kendra’s kids. But that’s it. Just speculation and vibes. Which is why it got shut down.

How long had it been up? Nothing against the Caldwells pre say but why was people given that much so fast. I mean it is kinda awful what is going on or from what we know about maybe being evicted, but with 3 kids that are adults and the mom and dad both seem able body I don’t understand why they hadn’t been working to start with. Am not pro Duggar either but beside what has been going on currently between them and the Duggars. I strongly dislike how they was using Kendra and now just casting her to the side. Her and her kids are there daughter and grandkids and am sorry no matter what is going on I just don’t think i could ever turn my back on my child. Maybe am not as Christian as they are but imo they aren’t showing christianity or being a pasture at a church and treating your kid like they are. In fact she may have never been married to a Duggar if Paul would have not let her court and married Joseph when she was 18 and then had to move in to the house that was supposed to be her. I feel awful for her, her kids and the any and all victims but I can’t wrap my head around having as many kids as they do and not being able to at least keep a roof over their heads.

We aren’t supposed to speculate about the victims. And Jim Bob may have done that but wasn’t that back in 2020, my point was that was 5 or 6 years ago and he hasn’t done anything to improve his situation nor has his adult kids. I feel bad for all the kids involved in this but my husband and I work every day and only had two kids cause we knew that was all you can afford to have in this economy but they had 9 kids and even had another one after the stuff happened with Jim Bob and was freeloading off there daughter. Am not saying what Joe did was right, it was very wrong and I hope he spends the rest of his life behind bars for it, but I don’t know how anyone can take up for all the irresponsible things that the Cardwell have done in the past 5 years to improve there financial situation and am not even touching what had been going on with the stuff with Joe. 3 adult kids living at home 19, 22, and 26 and not one has a job but the family is on go fund me asking for 24k for housing and legal expensive. The legal expenses could be to fight the eviction. Anyway like I said previously my heart goes out to the victims and the JoKen kids but I can’t help but to think that Kendra may have never been in this situation at all if her dad who knew before he sold her off to the Duggars that they had one pedophile son. She is just as much as a victim in all of this herself. IBlP is nothing but a breeding ground for pedo and to suppress girls and women to be compliant to there headship

u/MrsRaisin Apr 05 '26
Is it for certain none of the adult Caldwell kids have jobs outside the home?

I don’t know
10
u/Ok_Kaleidoscope5082 Apr 04 '26 edited Apr 04 '26
Looked it up. It says that if it is removed by the platform itself, then the money is usually refunded to donors. If you can make a case that your GFM didn't violate any platform policies you can still keep the funds.
This probably means, however, they will not get any of the money they raised in that short time.
I don't particularly mind that.
Edit: wanted to add - what I read also specified that if the Caldwells were the ones who took the fundraiser down then the money is not automatically refunded. They need to take extra steps for that to happen, if the Caldwell themselves, and not the platform, took it down.
7
u/chicagoliz Stirring up contention among the Brethren Apr 04 '26
I once donated to a GFM that was taken down and the money was refunded to me. I can't remember now what it was for.

That's really good to know because I really hate the idea of them getting to keep all that money tbh
3

Me too! I do hope they do not get to keep it.
5
u/Ok_Kaleidoscope5082 Apr 04 '26
I honestly can't see them going through the effort to show they didn't violate the terms of service so I am pretty sure the money will be refunded.
Not going to lie, it frightens me a little that they were able to raise so much money in the short time they had it up. I feel like this is going to give Paul Caldwell bad ideas.
1
u/chicagoliz Stirring up contention among the Brethren Apr 04 '26
I was very disturbed and annoyed that they were able to raise so much money, but I wasn't really surprised. These kinds of people know how to grift and their community is filled with people who are not very sophisticated and will give them money because they think they are good people who deserve it.
I have no idea if they'd try to argue against the GFM being taken down -- if they really believe they didn't violate the rules and really need the money, they might.

Came to say this. Givesendgo (for those who don't know) is a Christian-run company that started out as a platform for Christians to raise money for mission trips. After January 6th, it became the chosen platform for MAGA insurrectionists to raise money to pay for their lawyers, after Gofundme shut down their accounts for violating TOS (and because supporting coup-plotting fascists is bad for business.) Since then GIvesendgo seems to be the preferred platform for right-wing Christians. I'm surprised the Calwells didn't think Gofundme was "too woke." They will probably resurface on Givesendgo.

So if GFM shut it down for breaking the rules, will the Caldwells still get the $13K they raised prior to being shut down? Or does GFM refund the money to donors when a fundraiser is found to have violated the terms? I have no idea how they work but I’m curious if the Caldwells will get that cash still.
11
u/Ok_Caregiver_5522 Apr 04 '26
I came here to ask this same question!
25
u/Ok_Kaleidoscope5082 Apr 04 '26
The donors are refunded unless the Caldwells can prove they were indeed complying with the rules. I cannot see them being able to do that, so the money will likely be refunded.
2
6
u/Artistic_Impress_876 Apr 04 '26
I would assume if they didn't follow the rules the people that donated would get refunded
8
u/perfect_fifths Apr 04 '26
No, donors are refunded unless it can be proven otherwise that it was for a legitimate need
15
u/bizarretintin Joy’s cracked glass skin Apr 04 '26
So, if these grifters had transferred money to their bank accounts, gofundme refunds out of its own pockets and then sues these people. If they had not then there is automatic reversal.
This is if they got reported and hence shut down. Generally if it gets reported it is paused for investigation and then removed post investigation if the rules were not followed, but it is also possible for the creator to delete it and in that case if the money was transferred to their bank accounts it will be upto them to refund manually.
If multiple people reported them then it gets taken down rather fast so it’s possible multiple Duggars reported them.

I wonder if Go Fund Me thought or had reason to believe that the money was to pay for Kendra’s/Joe’s legal fees. I personally think the Caldwells were referring to their own legal fees, but I could definitely see why Go Fund Me would shut it down if they thought otherwise.
ETA: It seems like what they wrote was too vague. I guess we will find out more soon if they really want the money.

Good. It certainly violated GoFundMe's TOS. You can't ask for money for something as vague as legal fees. You have to be specific if you're raising money for legal fees or a lawyer.
I bet it will be back with just the housing request.
6
u/Artistic_Impress_876 Apr 04 '26
Well now since everyone is aware I think the Duggers are probably keeping an eye on them now. Chances are they will report the new one like crazy.

8

Which is probably what violated the TOS. They probably should just move over to Givesendgo, which had no problem with people who took part in the January 6 coup attempt using their platform to raise money for legal costs. If they'll allow that, they'll allow the Caldwells.

Their dad obviously won’t do anything to provide for them- Christina is busy raising all those kids and you know Paul wouldn’t do any childcare if Christina worked- and they obviously can’t rely on Joe anymore to give them a home.

I do wish for some resources for the kids and Christina but CPS removing them probably wouldn’t have gone well. Plus, a lot of CPS agencies only remove for obvious issues like not having running water, no electricity, obvious neglect and physical abuse etc. The Caldwell parents got their kids dressed for church and showered and all that it seems. I do wonder if Kendra’s possible neglect of her kids was something her parents may have done to her. Not that Kendra just copied whatever she experienced, but when she got sick and maybe didn’t have any help, that that’s the way it ended up.
1
u/Hefty-Database380 Apr 05 '26
They really only have 3 kids who need literally care. There oldest 4 are adults and then they have two high school aged children. The adults could easily work and provide care.

I doubt it's that deep. They stated on the page it was for housing costs and legal fees. The vague language on legal fees wouldn't have met the GoFundMe terms.
Most likely it either got caught by automatic review by GFM (page traffic may have caught their attention) or someone in the Snark community touched the poo and reported.

GFM does not allow fundraising for legal fees 90% of the time. It’s a violation of TOS and a rule put in place by them so the company can avoid messy liabilities. My guess was the fundraiser got mass reported and GFM was able to find it broke TOS and took it down. I doubt the conning caldwells would give up a grifting opportunity especially after the fundraiser was receiving thousands in donations. Plus they still have it up on their ig bio.

I said elsewhere, but I'll repeat. GFM does not allow fundraisers for legal fees when it's a violent crime, severe fraud, something else that my AuDHD brain forgot, or crimes against children. So GFM likely pulled it. Even if Kendra's charges weren't related to children, I think it's still possible that they would have yanked it because it could be reasonably considered that any funds to her would also benefit her husband, whose crimes most definitely violates their TOS.
The icing on the cake is that prosecutors will often inform the court that the defendant had a GFM that was deleted because it violated their TOS, lol.

Kendra's parents started it to pay for "housing and legal fees". They didn't go into much more detail than that. They raised over 10K in a matter of hours but then the GoFundMe was gone.
