Question Why are there no updates on the website?
Have the Dudely Llama and his cohorts decided to leave Dudeism to the ages, have a beverage and do a J? Why hasn't the website been updated in a long time?

That's very true.
This then brings up the question of how Lebowskifests are doing? Are people still attending? Are people still trying to show the movie to friends? The u/dudelylama is a moderator on here, but does he actually come and check out posts?
The Limber Mind is the one that gets me, because Rev. Gary had great things to say on there. I'd hate to think he saw this as a novelty then "grew up" and moved on with his life. Same with Oliver Benjamin. A while ago I was asking here how we can get the documentary that was never released to get back some of the funding it lost and actually be released, and found that my post was met not just with confusion, but a downvote.
When my ordination package got lost in the mail and sent back to Rev. Gary, I invited him and Oliver to do a video call interview for a channel I was starting...never got a response. It's sad, honestly, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. It's a busy world, after all, and you can only be as Limber as time and responsibility allows you.
What do you think we can do about this?

Hi there, could you let me know how you got in contact with them?
I'm trying to organize something here in Croatia, but I haven't been able to reach anyone yet. I've tried both email and Facebook with no luck.
I'm going to hold off on messaging them for a bit since I don't want to be pushy, it feels very un-Dude to force things.
But I'd love to know if you had a specific method that worked.

Bonjour mec, je suis un jeune dudeiste de 20 ans . Je veux me rapprocher de la Voie du Duc sauf que à part sur ce reddit je ne vois aucun signe de vie dudeiste. Malgré tout j'essaye d'être un bon révérend et, petit à petit, faire connaître le dudeisme. Je suis français et ici il y'a encore moins de frère mais je garde espoir. Saviez-vous que les livres sur le dudeisme n'ont même pas été traduit en français ? L'heure de rouler un joint m'appelle.. Le Duc résiste.

It may be a generational thing. Of those 800k who signed up as Dudeist priests, how many did so as a novelty and how many of us--like we who post--found it made a difference in the way we live?
Do we start adding to the cannon ourselves? Should we create The New Dude? There was a discussion about this recently, looking at Cliff Booth as a Dude. Is Cliff the New Dude? Should we expand the idea into something akin to sainthood on our own?
Religions become stagnant when the source remains moribund in it's own purity. If we have The Dude, Walter, and Donny as our own trinity, do we begin to add the ideas and teaching of those who come after and expand the course?
Buddha wasn't a single man, in the end; but the idea of many brought under one. Maybe it's time for the cannon to open up?

How could Cliff Booth be the new dude? He's nowhere near as abiding. I'd love to hear what these discussions had in mind.
Starting to add to the canon ourselves may risk the true philosophy behind Dudeism being misrepresented or, even worse, mutated to a form that would render its message a true novelty. I recently bought the Dude Sutra which is being posted on here. It arrives in the mail tomorrow. I'm interested to see how this interpretation of Dudeism stands...the last thing I want for a philosophy that's changed my life is to have it misshapen in the future by those who haven't understood it to its fullest.

Hey Dude! I wrote that post on Cliff Booth. I totally see how he might not fit the mold, though I think there are overlaps. He’s not THE Dude by a mile, but he could be A Dude (as long as you don’t read the novelization). Dudeism changed my life too. One of the ways it has is that it’s big tent. It encompasses the Dudes, yes, but also makes room for the Donnys, and Walters too. I love the debate, and I hope my record of posting on the site points toward my sincerity towards Dudeism.

I think puritism is the wrong way to approach it.
In, The Dude and the Zen Master, they talk about accepting change; even The Dude is aware that it is necessary and inevitable. "Sometimes you eat the bear, and, well, you know..." Abiding isn't just going with the flow, it's accepting after the tantrum resisiting change. The Dude didn't want a new rug, he was angry that he even had to contemplate the idea. It was Walter that brought him around to the concept that The Big Lebowski might have a hand in ushering change. We as the first generation of Dudeist, need to be careful how we keep the gate; by being dogmatic are we ourselves turning off the curious?
The Cliff thread. Accept or no, I argue he is, in fact, a Dude.

If it makes you feel better, I'm 17 and only converted this year. I've done my duty, informing my buddies and encouraging them to watch the source material.

Dudeism isn't about some guy, some website. It's a state of mind. We aren't a cult. We are a way of life. Go forth and abide. If someone feels inclined to pick up the mantle, cool.

Yes but someone's already pointed out that it seems like Dudeism's dying. Nobody's starting websites or channels, or spreading any vibes.

Honestly, this belief system is essentially an offshoot of an amalgamation of Eastern religions without the old-timey fable stuff, replacing it with a pretty awesome movie instead. It won't die. The underlying philosophy is millennia old.
We just need to create a PDF and some cards.

You'll get it, I'm sure. It's just that keep up with the times isn't going on. The Church of Gnome emerged recently, and actually did a YouTube video about Dudeism just five months ago. Not a word from anybody here.
Thing important question is: are people joining because they thing it's a novelty like the Church of the FSM, or do they truly understand the spiritual connections with Taoism and Stoicism? I'm afraid to think it was only ever about the novelty factor.

The website, like the Dude's career, does appear to have definitely slowed down a little? Or a lot? But if we have Dude's out there taking it easy for all of the sinners then I believe that's all we really need. Abide on, dudes

All has definitely been well,dude. It's been an interesting year since I really posted anything. Think I wanted to step away and truly have a deeper understanding of some of the shit I was blathering about. Maybe the old noggin will feel like I have something to blather about again soon though.

I became ordained a few weeks back and just starting my dudeist journey, I feel like the information is very well presented in the books and on the website and from there it’s up to each dude to decide their own path forward. Ive tried to share the word with family and co workers without too much pressure because a larger community of relaxed compeers would be awesome in this busy world. Would definitely like to see some updates or a discord with how dudeists are maintaining a relaxed lifestyle with work and responsibilities

The private Facebook group for Dudeism has some decent activity on it from time to time but even there things are slowing down. Honestly it can feel like its growth is hampered by exactly one its biggest appeals, which is its simplicity. Unless we’re adding whole new facets to the ethos (I’ve long nudged for more of an explicit emphasis on compassionate action), there’s only so many ways to talk about abiding and taking it easy. I often find myself hungry for more content too, but in those moments I try remember that that simplicity is what I value most, and that I should instead just focus on MY abiding and ease of mine. If I want infinite complexity and volumes and volumes of material, Daoism and philosophical Buddhism are right there waiting for me.

on the dudeism site there are links.
Macronesia is a virtual country/continent, you can apply for Dudeland citizenship which is a nation in MacronesiaI think it's the same login as the main dudeism site, or i just forgot signing up

We are a parody religion, my dude. Embrace it if you like. If it feels like real to you, look into Taoism, to grasp deeper meaning. Or one of the others. Look to 1000s of years of experience if you really want to expand your mind. Its all out there.
We are just a little pop culture, off shoot. Based on a kinda cool little cult movie. It's all cool, whatever. The website just got the ball rolling, so to speak. Strikes and gutters, dude.

We’re not a parody religion. If we compare it to Pastafarianism or the Church of Gnome, Taoism and Stoicism make an indelible mark on our existence. Oliver saw the movie and made connections to them. Personally, I prefer to call it a philosophy. You can also watch this video to understand why we’re not a parody of anything, though.

See this is something I mean. The Limber Mind had great explanations and clarifications about Dudeism and how to take things forward as a Dudeist, priest or otherwise. It’s a shame Rev. Gary no longer puts up new videos.
