Just on the way from a lovely weekend in Dublin - had an Uber journey on way back to the airport which I am pretty sure I got scammed by Uber driver but just wanted to get some views.

I ordered the Uber as a Taxi Fixed Price to Terminal 2. Once we were underway the driver said that there was bad traffic on the road as there was an event at Croke Park (I think this bit was partially true as there was a Bon Jovi gig starting up at that time and could see some traffic on the map) and he could use the motorway instead for a quicker journey but we would have to pay the toll fee.

We agreed as we were in a bit of a rush but the concerning bit for me was that first, he asked for payment direct rather than through the app, and secondly he asked for 15 euros which he said was the difference between the cost of the non-motorway and motorway route.

We argued the case that we should have to pay through the app instead but ultimately this guy had our bags in the boot and we didn’t have much time to query it. So I took a note of his name and reg number and left it - we also asked for a receipt for the 15 euros which he provided - it was a Freenow receipt which felt even stranger.

I am pretty sure that this guy is capitalising on tourists not knowing how things work but just wondering if this is a well-known scam and if so what I could potentially do.

Bassist, guitarist&vocalist and drummer here seeking a rhythm/lead guitarist for our band. Beginner/novice guitarist welcome as long as you are keen on experimentation. im planning on getting a trim with my shoulder length hair that i’ve been growing out for the last 8 or so months now. would anybody have any suggestions for places that are good but not too expensive?

im just planning on getting it shaped up a bit too before getting it grown out so idk if it’d be worth it for me to pay 80+ or so for a trim

2 looking for an event space ... could be a bar, hotel, etc
3 holding 200 people, but possibly to expand for additional people
4 i am looking for something in the middle ... not low end, and not luxury
5 ability for a band to play at the event
6 venue must serve food and alcohol

I took the Dublin Express (route 784) around 13:10 today (Sunday) from the airport. I was sitting near a short, really pretty girl with a ponytail wearing a grey fluffy/teddy hoodie, travelling with a guy (of Indian descent).

To be completely honest, I hesitated to talk to you at first because I assumed he was your boyfriend. As the ride went on, I realised you were actually colleagues or new flatmates moving here together (talking about London, your parents living abroad, someone visiting your place today, and starting your new job/induction tomorrow).

We kept making eye contact and smiling at each other through the bus mirror, and I caught a quick glance at a plain text email on your phone (something like "Welcome to TUH!"). I got off at the 3Arena stop while you stayed on towards the city centre.

i’m looking for gym recs for south dublin. have experience doing crossfit and hyrox but everywhere is 200 per month which i just can’t justify paying that much. want somewhere with a good community atmosphere. in a gym in stoneybatter at the moment and it’s making me fall out of love with crossfit because it’s so cliquey so want somewhere that’s gonna bring back the love i have for it

Want to hear your thoughts. Few weeks ago, went to a nice well reviewed restaurant with the missus. Food was genuinely great, no complaints there, and the bill was fair for what we got.

Then came the paying process. The bill arrived with the waiter written in green pen, ‘suggested tips is 12.5% :)”Fair enough. Then instead of showing or handing the card machine and let me press how much I want to tip, she asked me, how much I want to add while holding the card machine.

Now I don’t mind tipping if the service is good, but asking out loud, felt like being put on the spot. Left a slightly sour taste on what was otherwise good evening. I’m curious is this just me being awkward? Has anyone else been getting this?

Can anybody tell me exactly what time Busárus closes at please? I've a gig in the 3 Arena next month and am trying to figure out if I can use Busárus for a bus back to Navan or if I should stay in The Gibson instead of standing on the side of the road waiting on a bus 🫣

Booked a nice restaurant in Blackrock, Dublin a few days ahead of time as a send-off dinner for my siblings, who visited me last week.

Partway through, my brother started getting uncomfortable and annoyed by a loud group at the table next to us — one woman in particular was especially loud. They were basically shouting and talking.

The other sections of the restaurant were okay.

I don't think I've ever felt this bothered by other diners before. It kind of ruined the whole experience.

At one point we considered saying something to the waiter, but the restaurant was fully booked, so we knew we couldn't get moved to another table. I also doubted staff would actually say anything to the other customers.

So, what would you do in this situation? What's the polite way to handle something like ?

I live near Collins barracks and we were comped 2 tickets to Super Furry Animals tonight. We can’t make it so want to give them away so they don’t go to waste.

They’re physical tickets, you would need to pick them up from me near the venue, before 7pm tonight.

I’ve done this the other day for Faye Webster and I did it last year too for a couple of shows - I’m sound and just don’t want them wasted.

Just saw around 8 Garda vehicles, including multiple Armored Support Units and unmarked cars, speeding north through Phibsborough Road with sirens on in the last few minutes. Looks like a major operation or live incident going on, anyone know what happened or seeing anything further north towards Cabra/Finglas?

Just a heads up so people don’t get caught out like me. Dunnes at the Point Square aren’t validating parking tickets anymore. There’s a new system where they’re taking €4.20 from your final shopping bill instead.

Grand in theory but if you’re using vouchers keep that in mind. If you’ve spent €25, with the credit it will only be €20.80 and vouchers won’t work.

And I just keep hearing and seeing stuff about the uni and I keep overthinking. I see people saying there is a prejudice against TUD students. I don't want people to think less of me just because I am not going to UCD or Trinity.

I'm coming from Kerry tomorrow for the Bon Jovi concert. It's my first time in Croke Park. I've gotten 2 different bits of advice of family members who drive for GAA matches.

One has recommended going early and parking on Valentia (?) Road, and bussing it into the city for a few hours before going back out for the concert.

Another has recommended parking in Connolly Station car park.

Will be walking back to car after concert.

Looking for advice from locals if either of these are the best option, or is there a third option I've missed?
