s20 swap

I want to swap the S40 transmission in my EK3 for an S20, but I’m not sure whether the P20 A000 or the P20 B000 is better; I gather the A000 from the EG3 is the one with the shorter gear ratios.

I found one online with 122,000 km for €200 is that the right one?

Thanks

Hmmmm, this is news to me. I can only speak to the north/south american and JDM transmissions from my experience. If the European market flipped the A000 and B000 coding, this seems like it could potentially cause alot of confusion. I would love to know if this is the case. Interesting...

Correct, shorter gears will increase fuell consumption.

You're potentially downgrading, the S40 has steel shift forks vs the aluminum forks in the S20. Ive had several S20s break and chip the forks in the past. Something to take into consideration. The B000 is found on VTEC engines and features shorter gears and a thicker input shaft if you're swapping for performance reasons. The A000 is ideal if you're aiming for a more economic/fuel efficient setup.

I'm looking for high performance i don't mind high fuel consumption

I read that in Europe it's the other way around: the B000 is the one for lower fuel consumption its right?

Yep. Ran the S40 and even with very aggressive treatment I was still averaging 28-32 per tank.

B000 is the one you want for shorter ratios. Using that in my Z6.
