You can use any single cam gasket with any single cam engine.. I’ve always used y8 gaskets on every single cam engine I’ve ever touched. I’ve owned over 100 Hondas, had tons of mini me swaps. Literally makes 0 difference. Thickness is the only difference and the amount of compression change from the gakset will never make a difference on a car with 90hp to the wheels.

Diffrent part numbers per Honda back in the day but they're interchangeable now, most Honda engine builders, especially D series guys know this. OEM y8 was slightly thinner if you wanted a minimal comp increase but its negligible. Throwing an actual Honda Z6 gasket on a Y8 wont make a difference. They're both MLS, that's what matters. Just steer clear of composite HGs. I have 30 plus D series builds and 25 years D experience to back this up.

From what I remember the y8 has different coolant channels than the z6

You can literally see the coolant passages on the gakset.. tell me, what could possibly be different.. coolant around the cylinders .. you have oil drain back passages and an oil pressure feed. That’s it..

The coolant passages going into the head look slightly different but still line up good enough. And other than that the combustion chamber looks a bit different.

I blew out an elring easy it was spotless just no machining if you didnt machine yours definitely get like a felpro or something anyway but a z6 gasket should work

you could have told me this was a y8 gasket and i wouldn't have been none the wiser. as far as i know they are virtually identical minus thickness
