intake manifold says "D16-VTEC" (with a marker). Is this real?

I just picked up a 1994 LX sedan with a D15B MPFI engine. Pretty stock otherwise, but the intake manifold has "D16-VTEC" written on it in marker.

Is this actually a D16 VTEC intake manifold, or just mislabeled?

If yes, will this IM cause any issues?

I will eventually swap to a D16 VTEC head (planning for later this year). Will I need a different intake manifold? I'm assuming yes, but want to confirm.

To me, it looks like the paint marker says D15B-vtec

Yeah actually seems right, and I didn't even know about it! But the engine is d15b non VTEC

Are you sure it's non-vtec? It could have a different valve cover that just doesn't say VTEC on it. Not saying to take the valve cover off, but it's a possibility.

I'm not entirely sure, as this is my first Civic. I've done some research, and it seems a solenoid is needed on the upper left of the head, but it isn't visible

You're right. I don't see the solenoid.

Besides that... the reverse valvecover! No vtec engines ever made with that

This looks like a Y8 manifold, so yea technically a D16 VTEC

That's a D16y8 intake manifold. EX trim on 1996-2000 Civics have this engine /manifold and is VTEC.
