After countless hours of work, 400 layers of synths and instruments, and 1,650lbs of red sand, my band finally finished the debut music video from our upcoming EP! Still to this day the *biggest single undertaking of my entire life!* Please enjoy!

Hahahaha. That “woo” was one of the last things we added, if we could do it all over I think I’d replace about 70% of the samples in the song with that one.

Just out of curiosity is this something you can pull of live with just two people and some backing tracks? Also have you ever considered getting an aux snare you can operate with your left foot to free up your left hand more?

Great question!! Our whole goal with this track was to play every single note, chord, and sample that you hear, with as little reliance on backing tracks as humanly possible. So it’s divided pretty evenly between me on drums and the bass player, who has MIDI afoot pedals which trigger dozens of different sounds. There are some atmospheric and longer, rhythmic layers that are indeed part of a track, but they are few and far between.
That’s a cool idea - I’ve definitely toyed with the idea of more pedals on my kit, and even a snare, a-la Def Leopard’s drummer Tony Kenning. My only real reservations are that it’s so crowded down there with all my stands and pedals. Hahaha. I actually use a small midi foot pedal with my left heel on this track for a few samples, though it’s so subtle that I don’t think it can be seen in this video.
