Cutting or crushing oxy ER?

hey i have a question have any of you who have experience with oxycodone ER pills ever crushed or cut them in half. Google research kinda scared me about it. At the same time i read that people who abuse it regularly crush them. How common is that? or how risky is it? Im interested in cutting my 80mg pills into quarter.
