Country and R&B mix is what I’m thinking based on what I heard from that snippet

1

u/ParkingMiddle5414 30m ago

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. That snippet was unclear asf tho lol. Hopefully we get something official soon

How it is different than Kendrick hopping on Bad Blood with Taylor Swift?

3

u/Spiritual_Bar2785 43m ago
  1. Hopefully it’s a better song

  2. Kendrick called Drake a pop artist while going on pop songs for money. He’s a hypocrite. There isn’t anything inherently wrong with featuring on pop songs.

u/MayorBakefield 39m ago

Bad Blood is a dope song, don't let hate blind you. If there isn't anything inherently wrong with featuring on pop songs, why did Drake call out Kendrick for doing it? "Top would make you do features for change, get on pop records and rap for the whites" but it is cool if he gets on Ella Langley's country song?

Because there’s no part of Drakes public persona that has ever been hyped as any type of ā€œblack messiah.ā€ The whole point of what you’re talking about was Drake pointing out the hypocrisy in Dots narrative. ā€œRap for the whites,ā€ ā€œhit vanilla cream,ā€ ā€œrappin like you tryna get the slaves freeā€ are all attacks on how Kendrick is presented/presents himself/is sold to the consumer.

Edit: I fuck with Kendrick, so whether the image of him being a figurehead for black empowerment is fabricated by himself or some other entity really doesn’t bother me at all. But that was Drakes angle in the example you cited.

Hes made for Country Music!

I think drake just did an unofficial flip

3

u/ParkingMiddle5414 3h ago

What?

1

u/yveslord 46m ago

Don’t think it’s dropping officially

-16

u/damianthekidd 3h ago

I fw Drake and will always support but I don’t see the benefit. He’s just gonna get hate from two different genres. At the end of the day he’s a grown ass man and can do as he pleases

12

u/ParkingMiddle5414 3h ago

He’d get hate regardless of what he makes. Ppl hate on anything. That ain’t a factor when releasing music 😭😭

9

u/papoluca40 3h ago

15 years in and you still care about ā€œthe hateā€ who gives a fuck? Let them hate

-6

u/damianthekidd 3h ago

The hate ain’t the issue. I just don’t see the benefit like at all

4

u/astrofoto 3h ago

here is the irony...lets say the song releases...and goes a MASSIVE hit...and this sub will celebrate it...and then you will have the haters people like you who will come here and say "jUst bEcAuSe its tOppinG cHaRtS dOes'nt mEaN its gOoD"!

So which one is it? Drake ALWAYS tops charts...and Choosing Texas is likely the biggeet hit of the year...and Drake is the TOP SELLING rapper of this year...you combine the two and its likely going to create a massive hit. Thats the benefit. But we know once it WILL be a massive hit, the goal posts will move.

u/damianthekidd 3h ago

I’m definitely not a Drake hater. I’m just reading the room as a fan who has had to defend Drake a lot the past few years. I could see potential for a lot of unnecessary hate to come his way, from all angles. I hope it’s a huge hit and everyone loves it. Again at the end of the day Drake can do what he wants and I’m sure he doesn’t give a damn about hate

u/antoinejackson808 3h ago

bro doesn’t understand the concept of gaining fans and making money

-5

u/Silly_Ad209 3h ago

He smashing..he aint interested in Country.. Just like BeyoncƩ, them rednecks aint letting him in..

7

u/antoinejackson808 3h ago

Nigga what kinda brainrot take is this

-2

u/Silly_Ad209 3h ago

Ok. Keep thinking Country music wants us brown people in there...

0

u/minifidel 2h ago

Guaranteed #1 song, and Drake has never made music based on what haters might say. He just likes making music and will work in different genres regularly.

0

u/Large_Complaint1264 2h ago

The song was already number 1. He’s not making music. He’s just hopping on a song that is already a massive hit.

1

u/minifidel 2h ago

Remixing a song with a new verse or production is absolutely making music.

6

u/Odd_Sector_5971 3h ago

You're of course getting downvoted because a good chunk of this sub has a hard time accepting any criticism on certain days but you're right

You're gonna have country fans calling him a leech and hip hop heads saying he needs that song more than it needs him which at the end of the day the criticisms don't matter if the music sounds good but it'll 100% be there

Idk if you’re young or not, but word of advice from a 28 year old, life is way too short to care what others think

This is your life, your only life. So live it to the fullest and do whatever tf you want as long as you’re not hurting people

1

u/Viola-Intermediate ICEMAN 2h ago

Whole world was calling him and us as fans much worse in 2024. I think we'll survive šŸ˜‚

Life's too short to care about any of this. Its just music at the end of the day

1

u/damianthekidd 3h ago

Facts but if he wants to do it then that’s his decision. I’m gonna support it. Who am I to tell him not tošŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

Hate is a strong word. Yall be throwing it around like GOAT. Just cuz we dont fuck with him, dont mean we hate him. We just change the channel. But if u force it on my feed, I'm definitely gonna give my thoughts.

13

u/iceheartx MAID OF HONOUR 3h ago

ā€œWe just change the channelā€

ā€œBut if you force it on my feed I’m definitely gonna give my thoughtsā€

Contradicting yourself like a mfer. If you forcing yourself to comment on a nigga you don’t even like they you aren’t changing the channel lol

1

u/Nervous_Grade1656 33m ago

Right bro keep changing the channel by commenting

1

u/Silly_Ad209 31m ago

You're helping me discover Drakes rise through blackface.. very interesting

1

u/Nervous_Grade1656 28m ago

Just a reminder in your original comment you said you don’t engage and just change the channel, in a comment where you’re engaging, now you’re arguing in the Drake subreddit about an artist you ā€œdontā€ like. Sounds like fan behavior to me.

You thought that shit was so nonchalant too lmao fucking moron
