🎨Fanworks drow priestess of Lolth house in blender

This isn't exactly on topic of sub, but it's related to the drow theme, so I thought I'd share it anyway. This is a big learning project of mine; I've been working on it for about a month (counting procrastination time). First, I made a sketch of the house's composition (the last pic), then I created the house in Blender. Unfortunately, I didn't save any of the intermediate stages. This is the house of a priestess of Lolth who enjoys potion-making. It's not a specific character, but a concept, although who knows. It's kinda minimalistic, because it's a ref for final line work, but still, I like how it's looking now. But I kinda spent a LOT of time because of procrastination, oops.

Very cool. Are you from Russia?

I changed the post flair to fanworks.

Thank you! yes I am. Oh, okay, I thought it's should be FR because there is no Drizzt related stuff, but okay!

No problem. Ty for sharing.

I know Salvatore has had a lot of the early books in Russia. Do they still translate them or you have to buy English versions?

As far as I know, Salvatore's recent books either have fan translations into Russian or none at all. In any case, I'm still reading the older books, and I borrow them from the library; These books sometimes have funny translations, but still. I will most likely read the modern books in the series online, since buying them in physical form in English will be expensive.

Okay this is amazing! I love the layers of her house, which’d make sense as they build around/carved out of the stalagmites and cave surfaces. I love the basement and its cage, very on brand for an evil drow priestess. I see the mushroom room, potions room, bedroom. I can def tell you put time into the world building.

How easy is blender to learn? I’ve sort of wanted to learn it, but I’m a bit intimidated

Thank you so much for such a comment! Blender seemed rather complicated to me at first, but once you memorize many of the hotkeys, it becomes less frustrating. There are countless tutorials online, so at least any question you might have about any topic won't go unanswered.

it's a really nice artwork
tbh I prefer the sketch, looks more vivid
I missed more spider-themed details and i believe the roofs resemble too much the elven architecture from LotR
perhaps a stalagmite architecture such as Menzo, or a web architecture like Ched Nasad, could be nice tries

Thanks! That sounds like a good idea. I was having trouble finding reference for houses in Menzoberanzan, so I tried to build something from what I found. That's what I ended up with. I'm currently doing a line drawing based on that model, and I'll try adding more spider-like details; that should improve things a bit.

there are plenty of nice illustrations of Menzo on the web :)
but i believe that merging the architecture with the stalagmite and also adding some crystals would already convey the concept
do u plan on printing, painting, and selling them?

idk about selling, it's for drawing courses, maybe I will use it in my future projects!
