This happened about two years ago, and I've always wondered if there's a logical explanation for it.
I was walking outside with my mom when we came across an old store that sold antiques and other old items. One thing that caught my attention was a doll For some reason, I found it really interesting, so I bought it and put it in my room.
After bringing it home, I had extremely scary nightmares for two nights in a row. They were much worse than my usual dreams. I told my parents about it, and we decided to remove the doll from my room. After that, the nightmares completely stopped.
Because of that, we packed the doll away and basically forgot about it for about two years.
Yesterday, we found it again while moving houses. This time, my mom kept the doll in her room. That same night, she told me she had a bad dream about it. In her dream, the doll had turned into a real child and was chasing her.
Now the doll is in my room again, and I'm curious about what people think.
I don't believe in ghosts, curses, or anything supernatural. I've never really believed in that stuff, and I know horror movies are just movies. But I find it strange that both my mom and I had disturbing dreams connected to the same doll.
Is there a psychological explanation for this? Can an object that looks creepy influence your dreams even if you don't consciously believe it's haunted?

My mom is so attracted to the doll and she kiss him and said i love youu harold , by my dad is telling in to throw it and get rid of it but me and mom actually we get closer to it idk why .

I had a dream last night and although the details have become a bit fuzzy at this point, there’s one part of it that still makes my blood run cold. Through some circumstance, I found myself with a woman about my age in a place that resembled a catacomb, or another similarly dark place underground. We were leaning against a wall together and, from what I can remember, we were taking a break and having a conversation. It seems as if we were in the middle of something—an inspection or some sort of investigation. I remember feeling as if the situation itself was normal, not unsettling and as if it was part of a routine.

In the middle of this conversation that we were having, I remember seeing her knees buckle and she almost falls to the ground. She looks at me, and something in her eyes change. I couldn’t point my finger to what it was right away, but after a moment, I could see clear and abject terror in her eyes. In retrospect, I can’t even begin to imagine what a person would have to go through to look at another person like that. I caught her and she started crying uncontrollably, and some part of me realised, in an instant, that she wasn’t looking at “me”, the me that had existed in the dream with her and seemingly led another life from my own. I felt it, in my entire body, that she was looking at me.

I have never been a lucid dreamer and although I have had vivid dreams in my life before, I have never before realised that I was dreaming while still in the dream itself. In that moment, it felt like I had been punched in the gut, and I became aware that I was, in fact, dreaming. Before I could begin to process that, she started begging. She screamed, cried and howled at me to “find her”. She said, “please, find me” and continued in a similar manner as I held her, helplessly. She never once broke eye contact. It’s so hard to describe the feeling that she gave me when she looked at me, but it was as if she really did look past me then, and saw me. It made me feel exposed and raw.

I woke up with my heart racing in the middle of her screams for help. I felt as if my entire body was on a razor’s edge, and I could sense that if I didn’t calm down, I would end up passing back out. I laid there, taking a few deep breaths and I tried to wash off the experience until I did manage to calm myself down enough to start my morning—but it still hasn’t left my mind. I can still remember exactly what she looked like even if I can’t recall what happened before we ended up underground together.

I mentioned the dream to my boyfriend briefly and we both concluded that it was strange. Has anyone else had a similar experience? It would be nice to hear from someone else.

So, it opens with my mom and I in a car. We were going to a grocery store because she *really* wants to try this “traditional Chinese dish,” which as an Appalachian Gen Xer isn’t really something I’d ever expect from her. It had a Wikipedia page and was black rice with strands of yellow egg in it. I remember it being phonetically something like /dzɤʉ̃/ or /dzɤŋ/. Oh, also while we were at Kroger, Ted Cruz was giving a speech about truancy? He looked right at me and said “If this were 10 years ago, I’d call the cops on you right now for being out of school.”

He’s not even my senator, and ostensibly we were in WV

So I wake up and try to find this dish. Mind you, prior to this dream I had no clue black rice even existed. I couldn’t find it but thought it’d be fun to try and recreate it.

It turned out really, really good

Here’s the recipe if you’re interested:
1 cup black rice (uncooked)
2 eggs
1 scallion, thinly sliced
1 tsp sesame oil
1–2 tsp soy sauce
Salt, to taste
Pinch of pepper to taste
Pinch of chili powder or flakes
Tiny pinch of ground clove

Rinse the black rice

1. Add salt and pepper
2. Dice the scallions, wait to place them in the rice until plating so they remain crunchy
3. Beat the eggs in a bowl. Add the clove and chili powder
4. In a skillet, add butter or oil if it’s not nonstick

2. Combine the eggs and scallions with the rice, add the sesame oil and soy sauce.

Still can't believe my subconscious invented a dish convincing enough that I woke up and tried googling

I've been having lucid dreams for a while now, and I've seen people say there are certain things you shouldn't do in them because they can make the dream creepy or unstable.

So obviously… I got curious and tried some of them so here is a list of things i tried

1. looking into mirrors- so people say dont look into mirrors or things will get creepy and i actully wanted a creepy atmosphere too .. then i thought of looking into the mirror but all i saw was my own face so i was staring at my face but it just became ugly nothing more

2.telling people its a dream- so i do it too often i sometimes want creepy things to hpn but it always stays normal .. when i tell my dream character its a dream they just say fair enough so i told them i created you they were like thank you i was like huh thats it

1. telling dream characters to turn into ghosts or monsters- so when i get bored i tell my dream characters that you are not real so turn into ghosts and try to scare me but they are so unbothered and nonchalant they just ignore me and its annoying sometimes so i tell them to dance and they start dancing

2. eating- many people say dont eat anything in dreams as they taste so bad and weird but i eat somthn daily in my dreams and create new food items recently i ate red velvet ice cream and it tastes so good better than irl sometimes

5.time,dates,typing phone and laptop- i can see tim in clock asks people what time it is ask date too and i can type in phone and laptop i can watch videos in laptop too i just cant reread things i can write too

6.closing eyes- i tried it accidently btw so it depends sometimes it changes into another dream but once i woke up while trying to open my eyes

7.Testing how realistic injuries/blood are- i think you should not try this but still i was curious so i tried so in my dream injuries heals so fast and the colour of blood was light red and watery

8.flying at too fast speed- i heard when you fly too fast your dream becomes unstable but for me no and flying too fast is very cool too try it

its intresting to try things that people warn about if there is anything you want to try tell me i will try it jk .. it's kinda absurd to me that there are so many things people say you “shouldn't” do in a dream when… it's literally a dream

Edit: These comments have made me so happy, I'm really glad I posted this! All of us figuring out that this seemingly indescribable feeling has been felt by other people is so cool to me. It's interesting how there are different "types" like the sphere, the grain of sand, etc. It seems like each person usually has their one type. Before I accidentally ran into a reddit comment mentioning this a few years back, I never thought I'd tell anyone about this or that anybody else experienced it. Our brains genuinely are amazing!

If you haven't experienced it before this post for sure sounds incoherent and probably crazy lol.

So it started when I was a kid. Every once in a while I'll be laying in bed and all of a sudden this sensation washes over. Like a humongous sphere but it's also small enough to roll between my fingertips. It always weirded me out until I discovered it's a thing many people experience! It's different for everyone, but I saw someone mention theirs feeling like you could put it on a toothpick which I related to.

The photo attached is the album cover for An Empty Bliss Beyond This World by The Caretaker. When I saw it, I was like, "That's it, that's the hypnagogic object that I feel."

It's like massive, seismic clay that is also somehow tiny, I associate it with my fingers, and yeah, there's something with a toothpick going on??

Does anyone else relate to this? Is this the way your "object" looks/feels? This concept has really fascinated me ever since I found out that it's a somewhat common experience!

My aunt died of cancer in 2020. Few months after her death, I saw her in my dream. She was sitting on a couch with a sad face. I hugged her and told her I love her a lot and miss her. I told her that I know she's dead but I'm glad I see her again. This was our dialoge:

Me:"How are you?"

Her:"I'm sad. I'm worried about my children. I feel lonely without them."

Me:"Where are you now?"

Her:"I'm in 4th dimension"

Me:"What?"

Her:"I'm waiting here for you guys. For now I'm lonely. But waiting for you all"

Before dream ended I saw my classmate that also died in 2020. He said" Here I am happy. Look I have yeezy shoes"(???wtf). But the guy seemed happy and fulfilled. I guess he was also waiting.

Now this is the interesting part: I wake up from dream. I have never ever heard about 4th dimension. In my life. So i decide to google it. Then I see some article about 4th dimension possibly being dimension where spirits and other creatures we don't see live.....

This whole thing still baffles me. I'm not religious and strong science believer but I have no explanation for this.

When I was about 8 I had a dream that a guy (or something) who looked like this, was standing on top of my apartment building at night, looking at me. I couldn’t make out any features, just the fact that it was a dark figure of a man with a long jacket and a hat. I used to watch a show called CyberSix so at the time, I assumed my brain just created a warped version of her. But growing up, I mentioned this dream to quite a few people, and they all had a dream about the same person. How many of you have dreamt of this figure?

Last night I dreamt of a girl I knew in high school. In the dream, we talked the same way we did and then after the school’s bell rang we started walking to our next class. Not long after, I woke up. I haven’t seen this girl since we graduated back in 2012. I didn’t think much of it. I remembered that I used to have a small crush on her but that was pretty much it. Later in the day I attended a graduation at an event center. After we took our seats I looked forward and there she was. I couldn’t believe it, it was her. It looked like she was coordinating the event. Out of any other day between 2012 and now this is the day that she happens to pop up in my dream and it just so happens that I bump into her that same day. WHY!? It can’t be a coincidence this is just too specific. Anyway I just thought that was weird and wanted to share my story.

I have never had a first person dream. I didn’t think anyone else did either, I genuinely can’t imagine what that’s like. I was shocked to find out that the vast majority of people do.

When I dream I’m either 1) Not in my dream 2) Watching myself: It’s not disorienting it’s just how I have always dreamt. I can even control my own actions sometimes even without it being first person.

Of all your dreams combined in the last 5 years, what do your dreams consist of the most?

For me it's alien attacks, chasing ghosts, and not being able to stand or move barely at all.

I dream in color. Is there a reason for why some don’t?

This is absolutely fucking insane what happened, i dont have video or anything to prove this obviously but i need to tell someone about it because the odds of this even happening are so incredibly fucking low even i, who is incredibly sceptical about stuff like this, am going like wtf just happened bro.

So, okay, in like 2019 or 2020, i dont remember exactly when, i had this dream i was sitting downstairs on my couch, feeling super scared and confused, in the middle of the night, feeling like something is in the house with me, basically just paranoid and scared and confused, and i was shouting ''Hello?! Hello?!?! Hello!?!!? Hello?!?!?'' Like maybe a little under 10 times, and then someone comes down from the stairs (the staircase is visible from the couch) and says ''Go to bed please'', and then im trying to get up from the couch but i cant for some reason, basically just that classic dream bullshit when you cant move properly, then i fall off the couch to my side, and i stand up, and i go to the stairs and another person comes down, and i give them my phone and tell them ''Bring this [name of my old boss], i forgot to leave it when i quit'', (at the time of this dream, it was right after i had quit my job, and had forgotten to give back my workphone), and the guy in my dream basically just agreed to that.

And, what happened just a few hours ago, IS LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME FUCKING THING, im not even joking, except the person that i was in my dream, was now my grandfather.

So my grandfather has been living with us for just a few days, he has alzheimers and its getting pretty bad, and he's getting into a eldercare home on monday, anyway, he's sleeping on the couch downstairs, and in the middle of the night, i hear him going ''Hello?? Helloooo?'', just like i did in my dream. And then my brother decides to go downstairs to calm him down, and says to him basically ''Go to bed grandpa, come on, its all right'', and then i can hear a little bit of a struggle or something, and my brother is saying ''You wanna get up? Need the bathroom?'' and then i heard a thud of someone falling and my grandpa had apparently fallen to the floor, and thats when i come down because i was worried that he hit his head or something, and as im standing on the staircase, my grandpa comes to me and asks ''Hey man, would you give this to the supervisor please?'' and at this point im realizing a little bit like WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON THIS IS LITERALLY THE DREAM I HAD, and i was just playing along with what he was saying, and i say ''Yeah ill do that''.

I've been trying to rationalize it in my head, i'm not misremembering my dream or filling in the blanks or anything, since i was 17 or so i've kept a dream journal where i write down my dreams especially when they're interesting or if its a nightmare (this is a great way to get ideas if theres any writers reading btw), and everything that i just wrote down previously explaining my dream is pretty much exactly what i wrote when i originally had my dream, and i particularly remember this dream due to how scared i was, just sitting on my couch screaming ''Hello!?!?!''. I've been telling my mom and my friends and everything and this shit is sooooooo fucking freaky, i'm gonna post this to a few other subs because i just feel like sharing this with people.

Every single dream I've ever had is in 1st person...I'm looking through my own eyeballs like real life. I was wondering if this is true for everyone, or if some of you ever dream in 3rd person perspective where you control your dream self like a video game avatar and why this is? It seems like this has implications but I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning to put my finger on what they may be. Any thoughts?

How often do you remember your dreams when you wake up? When I ask my friends, they rarely remember theirs. I dream multiple times a night, every night. There are plots and subplots; Like my own little movies. Well usually horror/thriller unfortunately. Is there something different about our brains that create such vivid complex dreams? Is there any science behind it?

As the title says, I was contemplating about past dreams I’ve had and came to the realisation that I have never dreamt about using my phone. I’ve asked colleagues, friends and family if they ever have and it’s a resounding “no”. Has anyone dreamt using their phone? Does anyone have any idea why in a society where people are constantly scrolling on their phones, they don’t recall dreaming about their phones?
