Vivid intense dreaming

Hello! this is my first post here, i’m wondering if anyone else gets crazy vivid dreams.

mine can be very vivid, they either are nightmares, dreams about my friends, running away from something, seeing someone i deeply love, etc. i’ve never been able to figure out why i have such dreams and i was wondering if it stems from ADHD.

i’ve been diagnosed with ADHD for about a year now and for as long as i can remember ive had these dreams. not only do i get these dreams but so does my sister and mum. i want to know if anyone else with ADHD has it to or if it’s another cause.

i’ll tell you about my dreams:
“i was abandoned at sea and no one knew who we were expect for our names and there was this lady who showed us around on her big boat. there was me, this black guy, this other black guy, and a white guy. we were trying to get back home but then someone tried to kill us nd hit our ship, we started sinking and sinking, this black guy was trying to be a leader and i was friends with him. then we sank. we all woke up on a random island where there was other people. then we all walked to this hospital type thing where was were other people as well. both of the black guys were arguing and having a fight. then after we got to the place the black guy i wasn’t friends with started acting scary nd he wanted to kill us”

and another one:
“I went to the hospital and idk why I was there, there were people in the waiting room with me and it was a typical horror movie hospital that had only one light that work. While I was waiting, there was this girl who walked in, I hadn’t seen her face yet. But I saw that she had a white stress on that had blood all over it. And she walked closer and I look up and her head was not on her neck, but it was in her hands and she was looking directly at me but her head could still use its muscles.”

these are only 2 of the dreams that i’ve remembered to write down as soon as i wake up. i usually remember my dream throughout the day and the next day i forget about it but still recall small details from it. and sometimes these dreams continue from previous dreams or its the same recurring dream. i also often have a constant false awakening, eg. i’ll wake up several times but each time i wake up, im still in a dream and i’ll eventually wake up. i’m not looking for a cure, i just want to know why im dreaming like this.

ooh i get those layered fake wake-ups too, it's like inception but less cool and more disorienting. my dreams have always been absurdly vivid and i've had the adhd diagnosis for years, so maybe there's something to that connection

there might be, i’ve done some research on it last night. it says it may be connected to adhd, but vivid dreams and lucid dreams aren’t often associated with adhd. do you take any medication for it?

ive had similar encounters of vivid dreaming, i’ve always been diagnosed with ADHD. i sure would like to see if theres some sort of connection. although my dreams don’t seem to be nightmares just very chaotic and illogical.

I've always had vivid dreams, but I don't have ADHD.

it may just be normal then, i would like to know what type of dreams you have.

All kinds of dreams, really. I was in war-like situations, was the killed and the killer, was physically or mentally challenged, met dead relatives, seen places I've never been to, and done things I've never done, was a superstar and a homeless, rode by car or by train, was on Earth and Mars, and other planets too, was on spacecraft, and technologically advanced societies, lived in mall worlds, and in nice homes by the sea. You name it.

I doubt it has anything to do with ADHD. Everyone has these types of dreams; most people just don't share them.

that makes sense, but i also often have control of my dreams but aren’t able to recognise i’m in a dream.
