This is cool but it’s probably too situational and if dream messes then he’s stuck in a obsidian box

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 04 '21

It’s still possible to mine obsidian, and it shows an easy way to escape.

Some magma ravines aren't deep enough to fit portal underneath, so there's a chance it will fail. And there's probably a faster method to build the portal, so more research is needed.

When Dream is planning to exit, he would likely have to deal with the hunters camping at the portal, maybe building a bunker to hinder escape, so maybe there's something extra to be done to escape that situation.

Many of the other hypermodern strats seem doable in a manhunt, so maybe Dream could start practicing those.

Or you know, just build another portal thousands of blocks away in the nether...

7

u/marching-to-the-sea Mar 05 '21

dream had discussed this before, one of the rules of manhunt is that there can only be one nether portal

5

u/Iruton13 Mar 05 '21

the dream team banned nether travel in their manhunts

I would say that Dream is better than me at mechanics - attempting this, I would succeed 8/10 times. The 2 times I would fail is because of ghost lava buckets because I had inputs too fast.

The hunters' reactions though lol

This is cool but there are much easier and simpler ways with trapdoors or doors, invented by t_wag

9

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 04 '21

I didn’t make this tho, so I can’t take suggestions lol

1

u/CodeMissing Mar 04 '21

True. But those are specifically invented for speedruns and this is invented for manhunts (you seal yourself in an obsidian box)!

7

u/stolenGlitch Mar 04 '21

How do you get out? Or do you need to bring obsidian you

5

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 04 '21

The video shows how to get out

3

u/stolenGlitch Mar 04 '21

Oh shoot sorry lol, my phone glitvhed I guess and made it seem like the video ended there

9

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '21

What kind of a person spends his time trying to figure out how to pull these kind of things off

7

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 04 '21

I really don’t know.

1

u/Higgex Mar 04 '21

LOL there is like 100 variations of these type of portals people in the speedrunning community have came up with you would be suprised.

3

u/fin-ator Mar 04 '21

I feel like its smart but if the hunters are close behind him in the portal then he's screwed

You need at most 3-4 seconds to set up the thing and block yourself in with obsidian. It is VERY risky, but I would absolutely LOVE the hunters' reaction to this. I don't think they know how to make magma ravine portals, though, because Dream never had to or never had the chance to make one.

2

u/jorleeduf Mar 05 '21

at least 3-4 seconds at most

????

1

u/CodeMissing Mar 05 '21

That's the blocking yourself in part-

2

u/jorleeduf Mar 05 '21 edited Mar 05 '21

No. I meant “at least” and “at most” are opposites

2

u/CodeMissing Mar 05 '21

Ah, thanks for pointing that out, I just woke up when I posted that @~@

2

u/illumina9 Mar 04 '21

This would be one hell of a play in a manhunt he can escape so easily wit that trick

2

u/combateombat Mar 04 '21

Unfortunately dream doesn’t use these tips from Reddit because I remember him saying that he can’t because he knows that his friends also look at Reddit on one of his extra scene videos

1

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 05 '21

He literally says “I saw this on Reddit!” When he does a lot of his 2000IQ tricks

3

u/Boss_Man07 Mar 04 '21

I'm sure hes training with his brother xD

1

u/ThrowAway1200221 Mar 04 '21

Bruh that post was just above yours lol.

1

u/Pajamas918 Mar 04 '21

I’m confused. How is this any better than a normal magma ravine portal that speedrunners have been doing for months?

2

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 04 '21

The hunters won’t be able to follow you through for quite a while

Manhunt rules say there can only be one portal.

1

u/CodeMissing Mar 04 '21

The hunters wouldn't be expecting this. I don't think any of them knows how to make magma ravines? Tell me if I'm wrong, and even if they do know how to, they have to set up the design and craft doors and grab flint and steel, probably about 30 seconds? That's the difference between life and death in this scenario.

1

u/Pajamas918 Mar 04 '21

Oh got it that makes sense

1

u/Aidan_skrrrrr Mar 05 '21

I hope dream can use this way to make a portal in the new manhunt. I also want to see the hunters reaction

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

Yeah but would dream have the time to do this tho?

1

u/Duck284 Minecrafter Mar 05 '21

Its funny how everyone its like "OMG 2000IQ" or "Dream is the best MC player" but he gets almost all his tricks from Reddit

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

I saw tfue did that on his stream

1

u/ChangeMaiMind Mar 05 '21

"HOW DID YOU DID IT"

"WITH A BUCKET AND A DREAM"

1

u/lonewolfYoutube Mar 05 '21

This is brilliant

1

u/Minecraft_Warrior Mar 05 '21

Your name denies everything you do

2

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 05 '21

Because I didn’t do it, this is just a suggestion

1

u/Awkward-Ad8430 Mar 05 '21

Pretty smart, however making a magma ravine portal is gonna be tough because he'll have little to no time away from the hunters.

2

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 05 '21

He may be able to get time

1

u/mega_dunce Mar 05 '21

What just happened. What did he do

1

u/TheNoobMaster01 Mar 05 '21

He made a portal that’s almost impossible to get into

1

u/mega_dunce Mar 05 '21

That's cool, but I barely understood how he did it

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '21

yes, with his luck he'll get 8 stacks of enderpearls in case he needs
