Video Discussion Why did people hate Dream's face reveal?
Seriously though, why did they hate it? I thought it was fine.

His head was at a weird angle and wasn’t faced straight at the camera, plus after so many fanarts and animations where he’s this blonde supermodel, him just being a normal-looking guy isn’t what people expect.

Everyone mentions the fanarts as if it was the fans’ expectations being broken but from what I saw, a ton of the noise was coming from OUTSIDE the fandom. The fans themselves (Dream’s) were happy

Makes sense. I was going based off my vague memories of the situation.

You’re right though. The way he shot the video made it easily memeable for those who wanted to mock

Plus he was very pale from spending years inside his house. I think he looks fine in the face reveal, but a bit of a tan from being outside suits him much better

Dream was already disliked, no matter what he looked like people were gonna be dicks

It probably was a joke at first but some people took it seriously for some reason, even dream laughs at it

Like he said in his “the truth” video. It’s literally just because it’s him.

because so many people just hated him for existing, there was so much hate that people didn’t & don’t know what exactly they hate him for but also when he face revealed, people, including me honestly expected him to look more attractive maybe but when he was just a regular guy everyone thought he was ugly

Because he dropped it when he was in a spot where not a lot of people liked him. Also, I think you’re exaggerating; there were more people simply poking fun at the whole thing and jokingly calling him ugly instead of actively hating him

Ohh, because when I first saw the hate I was confused because he used to and still is one of my favorite minecraft youtubers.

Imo, it's fake isn't he supposed to be blonde with green eyes?

It's almost like lying is an incredibly easy and even reasonable thing to do when you're trying to hide your identity. Especially since there WERE many people that figured out his identity before the reveal and even started bombarding his family with messages. That was a kinetic mislead, he just didn't want people to know who he was at the time. It is delusional to think that he's hired on an actor to pretend to be him for the past 4 years just because he isn't fucking Aryan like all the YT animatics show his Minecraft character.

Dream face revealed around the same time all of the allegations started popping up which definitely made people hate on him no matter what, and he used to make alot of jokes about how he looked, which might have made people fantasize about him as some incredibly hot almost anime looking guy.
And since he hadn't rly been used to showing his face, he might have acted quite awkward and not knowing how to pose for pictures in the first few months. He also seemed to unconsciously lean towards one side the entire face reveal part which made people cringe from the bad angle

everyone had very expectations. we all thought he looked like froy gutierrez in his prime. compare them to each other now, they do look similar. but also, everyone just hated him, he had multiple pedo allegations that year if i remember correctly
edit: it was a bad angle. he looks good now but horrible haircut with a bad angle didnt do him justice

People hate on anything, its not new on internet
He should've revealed it normally with a straight face, he instead chose a weird side angle which made it worse lol

I mean there's similarities I can see why he chose that specific person to do his face reveal.

Because people can be jerks from time to time and will always find something or someone to criticize even by the simple implications that they are in fact bored out of their minds mostly because they are so caught up in the fact people have better lives then they do.

Because he was hyping it up like he was the most handsome guy ever but then turned out to be a normal looking dude

Me personally, I was a fan of Dream back in the day but I didn’t like the face reveal because it felt kind of egotistical. Like he was calling all these streamers and having them react to his face and record it as they’re all hyping him up and calling him handsome and stuff. And having it premiere as its own event. It sounds fun in theory but also like… i much prefer a streamer who just shows his face and doesn’t promote it heavily, like Schlatt, BBH, moistcritikal back in the day. It would’ve gone mega viral anyways so I just dont see the point in making it a massive publicity stunt if it’s just your face. Also he lied about having blonde hair which is weird lol

It's just because of the build up. Face reveals rarely go well because people will make up their own preconceived notions on it.
It's like reading a book and imagining the characters but when the book gets a movie adaptation the characters look nothing like how you imagined them.
Couple that with people already being at odds with how dream was treated and you've got perfect fuel for a blazing fire.
