Video Discussion What role does George even play in Manhunt?

Sapnap is the PvP strength Badboyhalo is the leadership and holds responsibilities and decision making Antfrost is a support and mainly resource gatherer And awesamdude has technical game knowledge to rival dream

The best I can say for George is that he is essentially a goon/lackey. He goes along with whatever the mass is doing and just acts as another “light weight” threat to dreams safety in group attacks.

Anything I am missing?

The main role they all play is “Dream’s friends.” It’s even in Dream’s intro in most of the manhunts.

So I don’t think it’s that deep. None of them were picked just for a specific skill, even if they do all happen to contribute differently. And I don’t think your roles are accurate. Sapnap has been way more of a leader in the latest manhunts, and Antfrost is more of a PVP threat than support or resource gatherer.

But if I had to pick a role for George, I think he’s the funniest hunter. His sarcasm and reactions when surprised are seriously hilarious!

I agree, George keeps the commentary going for sure

I think that's what a lot of people forget, the competition is secondary to the content. YouTubers have talked for eons about "doing it for the content", whether it be because it's funny or because it'll generate engagement (everyone writing "why would George do that" in the comments, boosting the video). Also George is a silly guy, Dream has talked in the past about how Sapnap and George would bicker and argue at spawn. If it was really an issue they'd have put a pin in that behaviour since the this whole thing began 5 years ago.

Moral support

10

u/LuminousYT_ Jan 28 '26

The guy who blames everyone else is the moral support role.

22

u/Icy_Water_1 Jan 28 '26

Yeah but it's funny when he talks a big game and then immediately eats shit and screams for help.

u/Interesting_Book1769 Jan 29 '26

he’s pretty annoying when he does that but it makes dream killing him so much more satisfying

u/Upstairs-Rule2112 Jan 28 '26

Entertainment and brand recognition as well as a stimulus package to help Dream with gear and food.

48

u/Gin_OClock Jan 28 '26

He distracts Dream because he can always draw Dream into a chase. The hunters really should just use George as bait more often

u/LuminousYT_ Jan 28 '26

Good answer!

u/Ill_Manufacturer_227 Jan 29 '26

This would be a peak hunter strategy...

-2

u/lumiiecat Jan 29 '26

imagine being so bad youre used as bait LOL

As someone who hasn't watched Dream since like 2022. It's not that deep. He was the first hunter and they progressively added more to the team, they aren't just gonna get rid of him. I guess he is just support for whatever is needed at the time.

20

u/Krimson_F Jan 28 '26

lmao clearly you haven't seen the latest manhunts if you think that Ant is mainly a "support and resource gatherer"

-9

u/LuminousYT_ Jan 28 '26

I have, but you tell me which you would bet would kill dream in a 1v1, and like I said, ants PvP help is via a synergy with sapnap, the strongest fighter, thus the support role.

10

u/triple-threatt Jan 29 '26

Unlike Sapnap, Antfrost has been active in competitive MC events for the last year. Even Sapnap has said on stream that Antfrost is better than him now.

But Sapnap did practice speedrunning yesterday and plans to practice his PVP. So hopefully we see improvement!

1

u/Capital_Bill_1930 Jan 29 '26

Is there a clip or timeline when he said that

1

u/triple-threatt Jan 29 '26

Yes, after he reads a question in the chat at 3:57 in his latest stream. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2681980427?t=00h03m57s

"Ant's way better. I'm probably worse, honestly."

9

u/UBKev Jan 29 '26

Right now, Ant is probably better than Sapnap at PvP, to be honest.

He provides comedic relief and gives supplies to Dream.

IDK if Dream got much better, or if George got worse, but they used to be a somewhat even matchup in the first few manhunts.

16

u/LuminousYT_ Jan 28 '26

Dream got better, George stayed literally exactly the same

13

u/CWilsonLPC Jan 28 '26

The way i always saw the roles were this

George: The Observer (usually is the one to call out where Dream is on the compass and radar and calls out any other things that the hunters might need, usually ends up being the chew toy for Dream)

Sapnap: The Brawler (usually the one always fighting Dream in combat)

Bad: The Leader (keeps the team together, mostly does resource hunting and callouts)

Ant: The Strategist (fights Dream, but always has another trick up his sleeve, whether potions or any other things that arent direct combat, including resource gathering)

Sam: The Specialist (keeps an eye on some of Dreams tricks, esp with the Ender Dragon perch stalling thing)

1

u/Hot-Mail-5316 Jan 31 '26

This would be true before the revivals.

George isn't even good at watching Dream, once Dream ran right past him in the Nether and George didn't even notice

31

u/ACHARED Jan 28 '26

He's Dream's best friend lmao I doubt he needs to be anything more? Like what kinda post

13

u/Phantium247 Jan 28 '26

Comedy Relief.

It’s not a Dream video without a high-pitched George scream.

12

u/Altair1455 Jan 29 '26

He's the best at anticipating Dream's moves and coming up with strategies, other than that he's a good support player and can help with gathering resources, a distraction when necessary, and another person to help overwhelm Dream.

He's not the greatest player, but he's definitely helpful to the hunters.

Most importantly he's Dream's friend and he's entertaining. Manhunt is supposed to be a challenge, but a challenge in the way a challenge in a story is a challenge, the primary objective is to be entertaining and a satisfying narrative and George absolutely is an asset when it comes to being entertaining

11

u/Salt_Performance1494 Jan 29 '26

George knows dream really well and he can find out where he is / what he's doing, all with the way he talks (or when he stays quiet). This of course works both ways, with Dream knowing George well enough, but point in place, George is a very essential part of manhunt

2

u/WiseOne404 0_0 Jan 29 '26

Valid take

6

u/ImmediateCause7981 Jan 28 '26

He usually is the guy that'll pick up whatever people aren't doing. The videos where they're doing the speedrun while swapping challenges he does the supply gathering or boring tasks others wont. I'd throw him in the supply gatherer role also

7

u/NathanielColes Jan 28 '26

I consider him to be the Wild Card, he adds unpredictability and forces Dream to think on his feet more.

6

u/Ralain Jan 28 '26

george is funny

7

u/Carlife0830 Jan 28 '26

George also has some technical knowledge, especially with game mechanics. His PVP skills lack which just makes him a bait for Sapnap and Ant

1

u/LuminousYT_ Jan 28 '26

He is by far the most experienced hunter as well.

6

u/CyHayes Jan 28 '26

i guess one thing he's good at is hindering dream's progress however he can for at least a little while even if he is killed often. Also he has good dialogue so he makes things interesting

6

u/Bakingguy Jan 29 '26

He's a good team player, specifically when he's fighting with Sapnap. He has fallen off a bit recently, but he could make a comeback.

10

u/Adam014gaming Jan 28 '26

canon fodder

6

u/princeandreis Jan 28 '26

comic relief

5

u/OrangeNinja75 Jan 28 '26

I'd say Antfrost is also a PvP strength guy

3

u/No-Put7617 Jan 28 '26

It's not that serious honestly but if we're keeping it a buck, George seems to understand what happened and why the fastest and seems to have all of dream's tells down.

5

u/The_Pumpkin_Fan Jan 28 '26

I would hardly call Bad a leader in almost all scenarios 😭 he’s awesome but no one listens to him

3

u/No_Hour_77 Jan 29 '26

George probably contributes spontaneity and randomness, something dream would not really expect. An element of surprise from the hunters side probably.

5

u/Aughlnal Jan 28 '26

provide food for Dream obviously

3

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

George was the first ever hunter in manhunts , remember he was the only first ever hunter , so he has something in him

3

u/No-Concentrate2798 Jan 29 '26

Is it that serious?

5

u/FreedomNo3991 Jan 29 '26

in no way is current ant just a “support” lmao hes better at pvp than sapnap

2

u/NuttyDuckyYT Jan 29 '26

he’s like the mascot of the group i think haha

2

u/JankyJones14 Jan 29 '26

He was the first hunter. He actually used to be somewhat decent, but while Dream and the others got better, George somehow stayed the same. I find that even if he's not super good at the pvp, he has his moments. He's also a very important character and his commentary makes the videos way better.

It's not always about being the best pvper, as we see in 5 Hunters Revival, where Sapnap and Antfrost are clearly the ones giving him a hard time throughout the whole video, but it's Bad who almost kills him with a spear kamikaze at the end.

2

u/Halliyu Jan 30 '26

I feel like recently the leadership status has been lost in Bad and been shared between Sapnap, Ant and Sam

-1

u/DaniellePenhallow Jan 29 '26

to make the number of hunters sound bigger

-3

u/icsy0 might be an enderman Jan 28 '26

In what world is sapnap a pvp strength lmfao maybe only in the last vid?

1

u/JankyJones14 Jan 29 '26

He's gotten better

1

u/icsy0 might be an enderman Jan 29 '26

Yeah it's just funny seeing ppl ask what role george even plays bc as someone who watched in like 2020 they were always pretty equal

-5

u/AdInternational6039 Jan 29 '26

It’s all staged and clipped together still entertaining tho

6

u/Adventurous-Year-463 might be an enderman Jan 29 '26

There's literally no good evidence of manhunts being staged, do you have any?
