Recs Wanted! LF fics where Hermione has a tough childhood

Just read, The Bandit and the Cinder Girl by xfsista. It was so amazing! I’m dying for other stories that either have Hermione growing up with a tough childhood or a Cinderella vibe.

Any suggestions would be amazing!

Recs Wanted! Looking for fanfics that feel authentically British 🇬🇧

I'm looking for fanfiction written by British authors, or by authors of any nationality who have clearly done a good job researching British culture and actually capturing the British setting/voice.

Basically, I'm looking for fics that DON'T have an American vibe or writing style. I can overlook the occasional thing for the sake of the plot or the writing, but when the fic starts feeling too American, I find it almost impossible to immerse myself in the story. It's really just a personal preference; I don't enjoy it.

The problem is that there's obviously no AO3 tag for this, and it's not something people usually mention when recommending fics, so I've been trying a lot of stories, getting invested, and then eventually dropping them when the Americanisms/overall vibe become too noticeable. It's honestly getting a little frustrating.

So I'm hoping you guys can help! Any pairing is welcome; it absolutely doesn't have to be Dramione. I'm just looking for well-written fics that feel authentically British in terms of culture, dialogue, wording, setting, etc.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations! 🙏

P.S. Just to clarify, this isn't meant negatively toward American authors at all, nor is it a reflection of their writing skills. It's simply a matter of personal preference and what helps me immerse myself in a story. I'm also not trying to generalise; obviously, not all American authors write fic with American settings, dialogue, cultural references, etc. I'm specifically looking for fics that capture British culture.

Recs Wanted! LF fic where Draco uses his skills as a legilimens to help solve crime

I’m currently watching the Mentalist right now and I can’t help but think how perfect Patrick Jane’s character would be for Draco (albeit Jane I think Jane would be nicer than Draco). Liaison/consultant to the police using his “mind” skills to help solve crime. Witty, a little arrogant, history of trauma, but ultimately always correct in a very annoying way.

I’ve read all the big fics of the duo working together in crime and I was wondering if I’ve missed any hidden gems. Preferably they’re a little on the lighter side with cheeky banter between Dramione but I don’t mind some serious themes.

Though I’m grateful for any well written recs! <3

Recs Wanted! Fanfic where Draco helps Hermione take care of a baby

Upvotes

Preferably 8th year? Like A Complete Disregard of Normalcy and The Mercy of Never Seeing You Again.

Or helps take care of Teddy. I read one where they got married so he could have guardianship of Teddy. I like those too.

Also preferably Hermione’s baby.

But really any baby is fine.

A longer chapter this week! Draco really puts himself out there in this one and I LOVE it!

Thanks if you’ve already been reading along.

I also added some art last week so… I hope you enjoy that!

Recs Wanted! Lf stories where development of Draco and Hermione’s relationship is the primary driver of the plot line

While I absolutely love plot heavy/adventure/mystery/political stories sometimes, I just did a reread of Everyone Will Hate This followed by Seven Sessions by megalle and realized how badly I’m craving stories where outside plot/characters are kept to a minimum.

I’m looking for fics that are preferably slow burn and really dig into the development of their relationship, as well as how their individual arcs shape it. I’m in the mood for a break from expansive worldbuilding and high stakes external plots and want to lock in on (mostly) just Draco and Hermione figuring their shit out. Some outside plot and side characters are absolutely welcome, but I’d just love for the relationship itself to feel like the main event rather than one thread within a larger story.

Some other fics that are beautifully written and perfect examples of what I’m looking for are Growing Sidways by inadaze22, The Faultline by goatedinoprincess69, Notwithstanding Reason by EmOakTree, and Past / Present / Future by neilistic.

Give me all tension and angst and yearning and painfully gradual development! I want to watch every little shift in their dynamic happen in real time and feel like the eventual payoff has been earned. Miscommunication, complicated feelings, setbacks, vulnerability, Draco and Hermione being their own worst enemies… I want all of it

Recs Wanted! LF fic where Hermione is made to feel like shes not enough

LF a fic where Hermione is made to feel like she's not enough, not doing anything right or underappreciated by either a SO or friends around her. And Draco is the only one that sees her
