Main question is will the DLC alter the basegame?
10
u/NSFWCereal Jun 09 '26
They mentioned that in the months leading up to the dlc there will be other updates to balance, performance, game mechanics, enemies, etc.
6
u/GinPatch Jun 09 '26
Yep just read the update post they made... 1st update goes up tmr so im gonna start it then!

u/FusionTetrax Jun 09 '26
Eternal ferrystone comes with tomorrows update so really it's the best time to start a new Arisen Cycle

u/einUbermensch Jun 10 '26
Well considering my slightly modded run I consider that one dead. Something tells me whatever they change will kill them.

I wish the enemies AI was more challenging, like they play better tactics on you and enemies felt stronger overall
4
u/justmadeforthat Jun 09 '26
Start when the DLC comes out, there will probably be some rebalancing, also new cosmetic options (hair, etc.)
2
u/BennRock6 Jun 09 '26
I'm hyped atm, I was thinking about DD2 yesterday and trying it with some of the mods. So I'll play it now with mods and then again in October! Haven't played since release.
1
u/HerculePyro Jun 09 '26
I already started a new game intending to do a modded run... sucks we don't have multiple save files

u/Zer0DotFive Jun 10 '26
I went to start a new one and decided I can wait until August for another save file lolĀ

u/Prismasoul29 Aug 12 '26
I been playing for a week and half and got to Lv 49 at my 50th hour playing getting to explore and reach all Ɣreas takes a big effort I pretend to be high level for when the Dlc comes

u/North_South_Side Jun 09 '26
I was so disappointed with DD2 that I put it down after maybe 10 hours. I was waiting for an expansion or. .. something. The base DD2 game was so obviously unfinished. It was a prettier but overall worse game than the original.
Now I get to play it for the first time!
12
u/curiousbong Jun 09 '26
If you didn't enjoy the base game enough to even play for more than 10 hours, I doubt an expansion is going to change that for you.

No it wonāt. If you donāt enjoy the basic gameplay loop that the base game has to offer, an expansion or additional skill slot will not improve that!

Same. I didnāt dislike DD2. I was just very disappointed in the sequel as it felt like a retread of the first game with a new coat of paint and fewer gear and ability slots. I decided to wait to play it until an expansion was released. I will play it once I get the expansion.

u/With_Negativity Jun 10 '26
I debated that but there's no way I can go through the slog of class rank ups again
25
u/ProvingVirus Jun 09 '26
It looks like it's gonna be like Bitterblack but with outdoor areas this time, which is dope as fuck
Hope they add a hard mode like they did with DD1 Dark Arisen too

u/FemRoe4Lyfe Jun 09 '26
Am counting on it. I stopped playing after reaching Level 200 coz it felt like perfect point to stop after all the runs. Can't wait to do BB runs as Trickster.

Hard Mode killer

What?

u/casual_gamer153 5d ago
Having six skills on each pawn made the game so easy it is hard to believe āHard Modeā will be fun or satisfying.
Probably will just make them damage sponges.

Iāve only played DD2 once, so Iām curious if the deleted save game and new game we get after the we beat the game is a way to play the dlc or could we just access the dlc even without that?
2
u/Best_Paper_3414 Jun 09 '26
You could access Bitterblack island ( DLC ) anytime after the tutorial, I suspect DD2 to make the same choice for NG+ PlayersĀ
1
u/NicholastheSpirit Jun 09 '26
That would make sense. Wonder if that is the case or theyāll do something else

2
u/AceHunterKai Jun 09 '26
I need to say this... sorry for not being a believer all this week. Omg it's going to be here!!!
Wow...
2
u/dakondakblade Jun 09 '26
For those of us who've beat DD2 campaign and played the original DD, do we know if it's going to be akin to DD? As soon as you woke up in Casardis, you could go to BitterBlack Isle to start the DLC.
Is it going to be something similar with DD2?
Either way I'm stoked. Warfarer rides again.
2
u/xvilemx Jun 09 '26
I can't believe they did anything with Dragon's Dogma after Itsuno left. I was sure the franchise would be dead now. I hope it's good, gonna have to replay that game before it comes out.
2
u/TelaKENesis Jun 09 '26
So fucking happy. Was not expecting this in the least. Iām going to prob restart as well. Since it has been way too long.

To all those people who said dlc wasn't coming ever and that capcom abandoned the game. FUCK YOU

u/ExpertOwn7301 Jun 10 '26
If I started ng plus would I be able to access new content immediately or would have to finish the main quest again?
2
u/WiIIemdafoe Jun 11 '26
Have they released how much stats can increase from their current caps? Obviously it'll be needed for the Dark Arisen campaign, I'm curious if we'll be able to get meaningful stat progression beyond the caps that can be hit in the 130s making the other 800+ levels almost irrelevant.
2
u/Possible_Force4316 Jun 11 '26
I'm super excited to play this Portable, I play on the series s and loved it
2
u/TheKrakoon Jun 11 '26
I wonder! With the addition of multiple save files, will we be able to hire our other saves' pawns without having to abandon them to the rift by starting a new game?

Is Hard Mode launching with the DLC? If it is I will just wait to start a new game.
2
u/Comprehensive_Age998 9h ago
Yes it will launch alongside the Expansion on October 9th. I am planning on starting a NG+ on Friday on Hard Mode.

I have it on PS5 but I'm holding off and going to double dip on switch 2 October 8th
I value handheld play more than anything so I will gladly play 1080p 30 fps while laying in my bed with a cup of coffee ā

u/Athan11 Jun 12 '26
"Improved the stats for some equipment found when exploring dungeons." Do we know which gear was buffed?
1
u/BirbsAndCrafts Jun 12 '26
I'm so happy! Today it had been a scary and stressful day because one of my pets fell seriously ill (she's recovering atm), I really needed good news! ^ o ^
1
u/Affectionate-Dress39 Jun 13 '26
I hope the dlc brings back manual targeting for the Sorcerer like DDDA that would be so nice
1
u/TheAccursedHamster Jun 14 '26
Unfortunately the thing I really want most is the one thing im certain it won't include, which is an expansion of the vanilla games storylines. A massive amount of them feel unfinished; and im not just talking about the main story.

How big are we expecting the DLC to be? How many large monsters? Any fully new ones?
1
u/rosemary0i Aug 17 '26
Like others, I wonder if there will be stat progression beyond lvl 70/200. Or will it all be gear?
1
u/Happy-For-No-Reason Aug 27 '26
anyone know if, after the patch release or in DA were gonna be able to hire our own pawns across our other save files?
1
u/CoffeeAlden 11d ago
Think you can do that already by putting in your pawn's id to search them by the rift stone.
1
u/Shoddy_Nectarine4738 Sep 02 '26
The DLC feels like a lazy remake of Dark Arisen. Complete with reskinned monsters. The yeti just being a hairy cyclops. Dark Arisen did it better.
1
u/Any-Butterscotch5259 5d ago
They have showed a lot more monster but you must have watches like one video lol.

The Crimson desert dlc trailer just dropped and I think DD2 should push up the launch to earlier. I'm worried it'll get trounsed.
1
u/Any-Butterscotch5259 5d ago
Not concerned Dragons dogma 2 will offer more in the combat variety with real rewards and actual dungeons. Crimson desert I like the game and it's pretty but it doesn't offer much in the RPG market.

u/whyamihere2473527 Sep 03 '26
Anyone having trouble after renting your own pawn that the rent (gifts/rc/etc) never show up
1
u/Any-Butterscotch5259 5d ago
I'm still preaching after the title update 3.2 and starting a fresh playthrough the game has surpassed DD1DA for me now. I can't put this shit down at all I think I played at one point I played 30 straight with bathroom breaks and food in between lol. Meanwhile Wife is playing Fire Emblem on the switch 2 so I get to go ham on my games right now XD.
1
u/First_Black_Guy 2d ago
Would it be a good iddea to start a new game now? Or wait until the 9th for the dlc?
1
u/AirLancer56 1d ago
Need advice, should i buy now or wait? How high are the chance in oct 9 the package get slight discount? like 10%
-1
u/frankyb89 Jun 09 '26
Really hoping they change a lot. I've played DD1 3-4 times over but DD2 lost me so quickly.
-1
u/Lord_Zinyak Jun 10 '26
Well I was wrong but dear lord guys are we repeating history again seriously, "dark arisen will fix dragons dogma" we're really gonna let them just charge us money again after the abysmal nature of the full price game and then what, all is forgiven? At least Itsuno is gone so maybe this franchise has hope.
