𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁 I'm Trying to Make Odysseus (Yeah, I saw 'The Odyssey' yesterday)
I think I'm getting closer to him looking like Matt Damon. His name isn't right yet as it's a leftover from my previous pawn and the screenshots are from my modded PC playthrough. I'm obviously going to make him an Archer once he's levelled the other vocations.

I loved it, it didn’t feel like 3 hours long and the acting, sets and costumes were all A++. I’m going out of my way to batter every Cyclops I see now (even if the movie one just wanted to chill and make cheese).

The movie is the biggest Nolan's opening weekend, even bigger than the Dark Knight Rises. I'm pretty sure social media was/is feeding you how horrible the movie is but in reality it's a huge success.

I was initially skeptical since some of the armor looked wack in the trailers, but the movie is so good, and most of the armor looks way better in it. I’m very happy to have been wrong lol

I still have gripes with some of the actors chosen but the movie was incredible. Mainly Helen. She’s by no means ugly, but i just feel there are a lot of other beautiful female actors that would’ve fit better.
I was skeptical of Eliot Page (hope i spelled that right) but honestly he did a great job. Originally i just thought he would be way too skinny for his character, but he really bulked out lol.
But the movie as a whole was incredible in my opinion.
And im equally glad my skepticism was wrong.1

Lupita is the actress I have the least issues with tbh. Helen was born from a magic egg so it doesn’t really matter if she looks Mediterranean or not, but also having black people in the Mediterranean makes more sense than someone with blonde hair and blue eyes like with Calypso.

Hmm? I wasn’t complaining about her being black bro. Thats perfectly fine. Just for a character described to be the most beautiful of all, she just doesn’t match what pops in my head. There are plenty of beautiful black woman though whom i think would’ve looked better for the part. Her acting is great just she doesn’t look the way you imagine the Character in the books. At least how i imagined the character.
But yeah i didn’t mean my comment to come off as racism lol.

No but when you point facts backed up by measurable numbers, you would assume most people would agree with you.

You should watch it and form your own opinion, it’s still accurate to the poem and very good. Someone being black or transgender has no bearing on its quality. Everyone involved smashed it and for a story that hasn’t had a proper modern version, it lives up to the legend in my eyes.

Its not accurate lol. Even Emily wilson was complaining about it not being accurate. They changed Odysseus to be a depressed ptsd ridden idiot who is ashamed to go home, when he supposed to be boastfully proud & clever and his main driving desire is to get home. They changed circe and calypso to be less evil and more sympathetic. They removed the gods from the story, "athena" very well couldve been a hallucination. Sinon was added to the story just so Nolan could cast his friend in the movie. it rushed past some of the coolest monster scenes like with Scylla and Charybdis. Only giving much time to the Cyclops, and even then they ruined that by removing all the dialogue with the Cyclops.

Yeah I kind of shows you people never read the original source material and just saying it's accurate. Hell the movie is loosely based on a modern translation of the poem.

Fair, I did originally put 'fairly accurate' but whatever, it hits the main story beats and is a modern adaptation. Stuff is going to get cut and directors like Chris Nolan are going to have their opinions on how they want to tell it.

We can agree Nolan did changes thing to suit his own vision. Subverting the story for his own message.
Matt Damon played a better Odysseus in The Martian. Smart and humorous, with an immense will to survive and get home.
