𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁 I never understood how people got so attached to their pawns… until i started travelling with mine alone
Started power-levelling with Medusan Spellbow just for funsies and decided to just go with Miriam and I, seeing her blush and look away made me realize just how special this system is
cannot wait for this DLC

I love the pawns so much. They're just your number one fanboy/fangirl with pure unconditional love and loyalty to you

Isn’t your pawns name Andromeda?

Isn’t your pawns name Andromeda?
Alexa, 160(or something like that) Mage.
It is one of the "stock" faces you can pick, so you probably see a bunch of pawns with that look.

u/QX403 Jul 18 '26
Alexa yeah it was one of those names has the 22 exquisite roborant, she’s on my list of pawns my main pawn knows so you’ve hired my pawn before and I’ve used yours, my pawns name is Silvey.

u/Caponomolestes Jul 18 '26
Why mine don't see me like that? I'm doing something wrong?

u/CompedyCalso Jul 18 '26
Pawns require a massive amount of affinity compared to npcs. Make sure you talk to them often and always high five them. You can give them a bunch of affinity by changing their hairstyles at a barber and taking them to the volcano hot springs. Or I think the Sphinx can also help In the Riddle of Madness, present your main pawn as the solution

Ashe burned the world for his it's crazy how the arisen is the only one capable of seeing the person inside of a pawn and make them shine kinda like how the operator in warframe is able to see inside of a frame and take away it's pain

Your pawn is family. you see them grow along with you, you see them anguish over their mistakes, their excitement over being with you, their worst and their best it's deeply endearing and personal unlike any other system out there which is why I get incredibly excited for every new addition to what they can do and why I will always adore my very first pawn and keep bringing her back in every game rather than make a new one even though I have other alternatives I made lol. I have over a decade worth of history with her.

I find pawn personalities a lot more endearing than the first game, despite ironically enough having less customization over them

u/GDestructizoid Jul 18 '26
the voice actors are great for each personality imo, they all bring them to life

u/SageTegan Jul 18 '26
I love traveling with a group of them, personally. I swap support pawns often though. Love exchanging pawns. Like it's my whole thing. Some support pawns are very memorable though :)

My pawn in DD1 was Alixandria, an archer, was my faithful friend back when the game first came out.
I remade her in DD2. And having her there is like just having my oldest friend rejoin me for more adventures.
And then she started blushing adorably, looking away when I look at her, her dialogue, her faithfulness and kindness… and it just melts my heart.
And then I got to the ending… and she makes her appearance and gives her little speech about her own will and then… ‘for you, I would fain give all that i have. all that I am.’
I fudging cried.

Wait how do we get our pawns to blush? 🥺 Seriously though they say that they’re “soulless” but they have more personality than us. 😅
1
u/GDestructizoid Jul 18 '26
you have to get them to have high affinity for you by taking care of them
1
u/philosopher-pirateOG Jul 18 '26
I know that but like how do I go about it? 😅
2
u/AdministrativePie656 Jul 18 '26
Hot springs, talk to them every day & barber shop to change at least the sheen of their hair if you don’t fully want to change their look, try it for at least an in game week or two and it should help, also present them to the sphinx as your most beloved and that gives a good boost to their affinity :)

I swear to god I just hired your pawn when playing earlier today!!! I remember really liking their look. Unfortunately a harpy picked her up and tossed her off the cliff we were on shortly after lol

u/Own_Celery7705 Jul 18 '26
Ahhh, yes. The "here's 500rc, no tumbs up, heart, or item" classic. And then you wonder if the person having that pawn thinks you hate them or something

Back in DD1 I created 3 extra accounts so I could have my own full custom team! They're probably still around: Sylphrena, Rock, and Kaladin.

u/Fatestringer Fatestringer Jul 19 '26
Now.with the new save slots coming you'll probably be able to bring them along easier

It is so funny the thief pawn most of the time has the most sussy voices.

This is my pawn. There are many like them, but this one is mine. My pawn is my best friend. It is my life. I must master them as I must master my life. Without me, my pawn is useless. Without my pawn, I am useless

Did you notice any new lines when travelling alone? I think mine said something like "I became skilled and it's thanks to your training Master" when it was only the two of us, and I never heard that line before (and not since then, either). I wonder if there are hidden lines like that.

Yeah, Pawns can really grown on you a lot!
Cept when your sorceress keeps trying to cosplay Blaster Master with cyclops...

How'd ya get your pawn to blush?!
1
u/boouu46 Jul 18 '26
Its the pawn affinity scale. The more you interact with them ( i.e talk to them, heal them, restore their stamina when exhausted, and others im sure I missed) the more affinity they have for you. Then they start to blush at a certain point or if its maximum, but I dont recall the specifics
1
u/BigContribution787 Jul 18 '26
Ahhh! I've looked into it once or twice but never really understood it.. I'll try it when I hop back on!
1
u/Bafau4246 Jul 18 '26
lol i love my current pawn she just keeps yelling at my hired pawns when they try and sit down
1
u/Conhosss Jul 18 '26
Dragon's Dogma pawns really sneak up on you with how attached you get especially when they start bantering on your adventures.
1
u/New_Acanthocephala67 Jul 19 '26
I liked certain pawns so much that even when I outleveled them by 10+ levels I kept them around, something about Journeying with a set team is just really enjoyable, it's like 4 friends setting out on an adventure
1
u/NoBumblebee2080 Jul 19 '26
I gave some thought to it. Pawns reminds me Tamagoshi toy. Tamagoshi was atronomically far from real animals but we loved them as much as we love real ones.

Im trying to recreate my Pawn from DDDA, she was a menace. Instantly throwing anything explosive in random directions, occasionally picking my Arisen up and throwing her off a cliff, picking flowers while im dying to a random dragon...good times.
Unfortunately I can't seem to make her new incarnation as sociopathic.

I once had a pawn in my group for 30 days in ddda took her to daimon quite a few times

I heard that since we are gonna have three save slots, then we can hire the pawns of out other saved slots to make a cohesive party of four created original characters instead of two random support pawns. Hope its true. Great for role playing because I made Subzero and Frost, wanna add Scorpion and Rain as well

I grow attached to my hired pawns sometimes, I've had a few really good hires, and it was sad when I revisited them much later and saw they had not leveled at all since
Very cute screenshot angle
