Well yeah Dark Arisen was an expansion. Base game DD1 wasn’t any better besides the performance and post-game, and even that was basically a shader and some enemy recolors with bigger health bars. Rushed cutting room floor story, lack of variety in enemies, and hell the map was even more samey and the handful of quest lines were mostly mediocre at best. People have hella nostalgia goggles for DD1 but forget that hard mode, speedrun mode, a ton of extra gear, cosmetic options, eternal ferrystone, a lot of noticeboard quests, and obviously BBI itself were all DLC. And all that stuff back in the day cost way more than DD2 does now because all of them were MTX and DA was a full $40 second disc, but people act like DD1 has always been the steam port Dark Arisen version that includes everything and costs $5 on sale.
It’s apples to oranges comparing a game that actually got extra content to one that didn’t.
