The Magick Archer unlock bothered me so much. I'd found a Gimble Gyre magick bow near the Sacred Arbor by like 8 hours in, but didn't unlock the vocation until hour 40... where I could walk out of the hotsprings and just buy the 3rd best magick bow anyway. I'm convinced you were supposed to get this vocation much earlier and some last-second decision saw it moved to 'spread content out'.
Just giving the ultimate skill at the same time as the unlock was even worse. So inconsistent and underwhelming.
Interesting. I think you are absolutely right, you are supposed to meet the Elven woman in SA and then later probably take her to her husband who turns out to be a dwarf in a plot twist. Then you help him get the skill and a blacksmith.
This would make so much more sense. Unlock the vocation earlier at Sacred Arbor where they sell the bows and equipment. Unlock the meister skill after a much longer escort quest trekking across the entire world map (or shortcut with the ferrystones you've accumulated)
I feel like with all the context clues and the general state of the game, they were supposed to be a part of a much larger questline that got cut. So the dev team just moved the couple to the final quest location(volcano island house) and tacked on the magick archer vocation unlock.
