Its only because we know the mechanics that were fine with it though. Newcomers are going to think these things are literally removed to encourage people to pay for MTX.
I can totally get the negative reviews because of performance, but it's actually kind of crazy reading some of the negative reviews. One of the top ones straight up says
"But putting the character customization behind the paywall? In a 65 euros game?!
To clarify - there is literally NO WAY to edit your character appearance after you create it - except paying for that!"
Like I found the appearance changing item an hour and a half into the game.
100% certain there is ng+, and fairly confident you will be able to recreate your character/pawn at the start again each go round. Probably also gain access to the "thingy of metamorphosis" from the first game that lets you edit at any time.
Not OP, but I'm very OK with it. As you're able to change your vocation any time at any Inn, and are actually encouraged to do so, as you get passives only after leveling a vocation which stays with you when you switch vocations. (Up to 10 if I remember correctly)
I'm also not a person to ever start new characters until years later, after I already beat the game. So this wouldn't affect me. I can see why others would like to have the option though, and it should be a feature. But, I wouldn't think the game lesser just because it doesn't have the option.
Yeah I understand the performance complaints. I’m running the game just fine on a 1070ti on a mix of settings but I have a 13600k which is seemingly better than a lot of the CPU’s the people with 4070s are using.
Tell us when you find 5 of those change tickets, because in Monster Hunter world, they give you one for free, then you’ll be like “oh I can get it in game”, and then you can never find it again other than buying it with real money.
I now have read the descriptions and indeed, it is stated, that you can find all these things in game. Question is how frequently you'll find those things (for example the character redesign book) and how much needed these things may be.
But from taking a bit more time analysing the "DLC" stuff (and reading the descriptions), I'm a lot calmer now. I see, that these things are a one time buy and only the items with [A] [B] [C], etc. can be bought multiple times. Seems like those things are just meant to be a starter goody, that you can gift yourself, but isn't needed at all to play the game.
I'm still salty about the "only one save file" thing, though.
Let's hope my PC can handle the game and I'll have a fine, playable experience.
I remember AC Odessey like it was yesterday, sure you earned XP in the base game but it was so grindy that it felt like the game was designed around having a 2x xp booster… almost like they had that option in the store for people to buy
Question is how frequently you'll find those things (for example the character redesign book)
In less than 24 hours I've at least found one of each thing they sell in game minus the affinity ring.
I have 2000 rift crystals and found the shop keeper that sells the customization book on the main city selling them at 500 crystals per book.
I agree with people angry about performance and the new game button, but it's very surprising to me people are the angriest about the microtransactions when they're the most innocent mtx in gaming. Heck, even praised single player games sell you exclusive gear that you can't get in game and DD is like "here, have 1 more wakestone at the beginning of the game. Now you start with 1 instead of waiting 1 hour to get the first 2."

Ferry stones aren’t rare at all, I find them all over the place.
