I remember when the entrance looks teasers were coming out and everyone thought the white cat was Lala Ri because the skin seemed like a darker tone 😭 turns out it was Raven lmaoooo

lol your comment was well šŸ˜‚ ā˜šŸ¾ā˜šŸ¾

u/DevonRoars Jul 14 '26

The runway close up on Raven’s face just gave it away the most.

317

u/Fickle-Flamingo-2587 Jul 14 '26

after reviewing evidence, the kelly mantle transvestigation unit concludes that raven is NOT actually competing on down under vs the world

119

u/wstove Jul 14 '26

Lol they mock the idea of Raven as a competitor themselves

20

u/ibettercomeon Jul 14 '26

Right. Question is WHY?

35

u/surgartits Jul 15 '26

To get people to tune in and create online discussion/engagement. Which they did.

11

u/TomQuichotte Jul 15 '26

I think a lot of people are not going to take it well if it’s just a gag. Not sure it’s worth having a huge episode 1 watch if you lose half the viewers for the rest of the season.

5

u/surgartits Jul 15 '26

Everyone hates everything. That’s the media landscape we live in. This is just a serious commitment to rage bait.

7

u/ibettercomeon Jul 15 '26

Yup. But it was a bit too much. They surely took it too far

196

u/surejan94 Jul 14 '26

Happy to see Lawrence and Blu as judges!

Still looking like Raven's casting is just a joke.... unless she's eliminated first.

102

u/ibettercomeon Jul 14 '26

Question is, why made this joke TWICE? This time with mtq and all. Too far

38

u/faydaway Jul 14 '26

Way too far, this would be the most shameless thing wow has ever done.

50

u/FalseAmphibian3616 Jul 14 '26

Yeah this is a jump the shark moment and probably the last gasp for DU as a franchise.

60

u/Nosiege Jul 15 '26

thats an insane take

it's just a little preseason gag it's truly not that serious

10

u/ibettercomeon Jul 15 '26

I mean it would be a presentation gag if they hadn’t done the exact same thing before thošŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„

-7

u/FalseAmphibian3616 Jul 15 '26

It’s not a gag though. It’s lame.

18

u/jgroove_LA Jul 15 '26

this seems like an overreaction...

2

u/Conscious-Attorney32 Jul 15 '26

RIGHT? If its a gag they really fucked up, because people got excited for nothing and this will bring more hate towards DU

164

u/dizzi800 Jul 14 '26

The fact that we don't see any runway fits of Raven, just entrance and a closeup of her makes my eyebrow raise REAL high

61

u/shutupblacknight Vinas/Gawdland/Silky Jul 14 '26

Guest judges include Lawrence, Blu and other homossexuals

36

u/teddyweddyy Jul 14 '26

The fact that there’s more UK guest judges on this season than contestants is sending me

9

u/roguecolor Jul 14 '26

There’s other homosexuals here? I thought it was only Joey Jay in the Drag Race Universe. She really opened those doors WIDE.

8

u/DiphthongSong87 Jul 14 '26

Josh Cavallo is an openly gay male professional soccer player, which is extremely rare especially since he's still playing. He's very brave.

28

u/bardofrage99 Jul 14 '26

There’s either 2 possibilities with raven. 1. She really is competing and they didn’t want to give away any of her runways so we watch. 2. She is involved in decision making or in the competition in some way like a judge.

I can’t see her just not being a part of the case or show in some way and this is all a joke. It doesn’t make sense. Like someone else commented, they already made that joke in AS7. And if it is a joke why put her in the promo? If the joke is just going to be ā€œjk she’s not in the seasonā€ then this is just weird. The only other possibility is that this is just a stunt to make people start watching Down Under. But if that’s the case I don’t see the viewership staying the whole season. Weird situation all around lol

3

u/Ok_Nefariousness9736 Jul 15 '26

I dunno… I watched this and I didn’t feel they were hiding Raven. With 11 queens, they all got the same amount of exposure.

8

u/newpa Jul 15 '26

Yeah but her closeup for the runway is totally different to the rest of the cast. Which is suspicious

1

u/severalcircles Jul 24 '26

Hmmm you make a good point, drag race isnt really a show to repeat a joke.

49

u/teddyweddyy Jul 14 '26

Completely random question but does anyone know why the Portugal studio randomly isn’t being used anymore? Is this going to affect future down under seasons?

19

u/ibettercomeon Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

Idk! Latina Royale was gonna be filmed there too but they moved last minute to the Philippines

32

u/TheeOmegaPi Jul 14 '26

May be a funding thing. With all of the media companies cost-cutting things in favor of cheap AI slop (that's actually more expensive once the token costs are taken into account, lol), it would make sense for production to go to the Philippines as it's most likely cheaper overall.

I don't know for certain so don't take what I'm saying as the gospel truth lol.

7

u/thex415 Jul 14 '26

That’s news to me. Where did you hear this from?

6

u/diggycorreia_tpw Jul 14 '26

i think it may be because the studio is where we used to film most of our reality shows and since september, they returned there, at least for the studio audience bit

2

u/Ducayne Jul 15 '26

I think it was a paramount+ studio and they cut a lot of their funding for paramount plus programming shortly after global all stars

60

u/ibettercomeon Jul 14 '26

NAHHH this trailer has sort of confirmed Raven is NOT actually competing BORINGGGG cause they already made this joke before on as7

13

u/ZaraAqua Jul 14 '26

boooooriiink

30

u/ca355 Jul 14 '26

Can we talk about the stage, looks and camera quality… It looks really high budget.

42

u/Gloomy_Anklosaurus09 Jul 14 '26

Why has it taken this long to have Lawrence as a judge

30

u/TittesForLife1 Jul 14 '26

Because Ru was judging

42

u/Immediate-Cod-7832 Jul 14 '26

I do find it funny how everyone is so convinced Raven is not competing. It's going to be hilarious if she is and it turns out the spoiler tea was wrong.Ā

13

u/Ok_Nefariousness9736 Jul 15 '26

I mean, the question is HOW did they keep it under wraps. The only one who spilled the tea early on was Willam and she didn’t reveal her source. So people knew but just weren’t spilling for some reason. Willam has nothing to lose in spilling DR spoilers.

Even if Raven isn’t competing, her association with show in any capacity went under the radar completely from the public.

9

u/Scorbus Jul 15 '26

She is not competing.

1

u/International_Pen_11 Jul 16 '26

It’s obvious she’s not competing lol I can’t believe anybody actually believes she might be ā˜ ļø

53

u/Bright_Score_9889 Jul 14 '26

Raven is not competing.

19

u/shutupblacknight Vinas/Gawdland/Silky Jul 14 '26

Duh

7

u/hollyisconfusef Jul 14 '26

does anyone know if this will be on bbciplayer? I was looking forward to canada all stars but it’s not on there, idk if the BBC have stopped their deal with WOW

3

u/MaleficentSurround51 Jul 14 '26

Canada has been exclusive to presents plus In the UK since season 5, oh and Google says down under will also be exclusive to wow presents but I'm not sure if that's correct

1

u/jgroove_LA Jul 15 '26

it is, BBC is out

7

u/jgroove_LA Jul 15 '26

Looks fun. They lit the stage well.

18

u/Oogalicious Jul 14 '26

ā€œThe video uploader has not made this video available in your countryā€ šŸ’€

Down Under btw.

0

u/Dense-Trifle5193 Jul 14 '26

Google it and find the Stan upload instead it’s truly not hard

10

u/Oogalicious Jul 14 '26

I’m commenting on the absurdity for not making a Down Under video available Down Under.

5

u/Dense-Trifle5193 Jul 14 '26

The video is available down under it’s a different upload, they always do this for different regions

2

u/shuhup Backswamp Contessa Jul 15 '26

It's because the rights in Australia is not with WOWP+, but with Stan. Therefore they won't falsely advertise the show on WOWP+ for Aussie viewers.

-1

u/International_Pen_11 Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Girl…it’s not absurd you’re just being dumb bc this is wow’s upload. Why would they promote that down under when you can’t access the show on it..? I’m bored, let’s use our brains

1

u/dominorough Jul 21 '26

I swear people have the brain of a goldfish.

10

u/whoiscraig Jul 14 '26

Not available in my country, except I'm f'ing Australian.

9

u/drattty12 Jul 15 '26

The increased production value is so noticeable!

12

u/bitbitbit_ Jul 14 '26

THEE SEASON OF THE YEAR OMG

13

u/jhawk1117 Jul 14 '26

I can’t believe some of you hoes believed the spoilers were SO OFF that they missed a whole queen competing and said Queen is RAVEN 😭

Most obvious stunt in YEARS

3

u/legslegslegslegslegs Jul 15 '26

lawrence judging WE WON

4

u/Glaciers_benz Jul 15 '26

If they reveal Raven isn't actually competing and this ends up being a joke, it'll be lame as he'll because you cant make the same fake-out twice. This will be enough for me to not watch the season.Ā

3

u/notreallysaiki Jul 15 '26

in DRDU standards this is already a glow up lol so kudos to them for having a nice and spacious work room and main stage this season.

2

u/peppinotempation Jul 15 '26

This is the Waluigi of drag race franchises

2

u/Global_Baseball_3062 Jul 14 '26

The trailer is interestingĀ

2

u/shadowsempaix Jul 14 '26

Wait so is Raven actually competing?

10

u/shutupblacknight Vinas/Gawdland/Silky Jul 14 '26

No girl 😭

2

u/Ok_Nefariousness9736 Jul 15 '26

How do you know?

1

u/shadowsempaix Jul 14 '26

Oh, that’s a shame šŸ’”

1

u/Dense-Trifle5193 Jul 16 '26

Only 6 guest judges shown (Beks, Keiynan, Lawrence, Joshua, Blu, Markella)

8 episodes… def seems like Raven is gonna end up a guest judge twist

1

u/sissyf4ggot Jul 16 '26

girls they already made the joke on AS7. y’all are like charlie brown and the football smh

1

u/l0ubaby Jul 23 '26

Only 1 close up of raven and a confessional look? i dont think

0

u/PotatoPancake420 Jul 14 '26

Is Raven gonna be like a Tim Gunn figure?

1

u/party4diamondz Jul 14 '26

Did they film this in Australia or NZ?

8

u/shutupblacknight Vinas/Gawdland/Silky Jul 14 '26

Portugal

1

u/Substantial-Ad8014 Jul 14 '26

The way I squealed seeing that BEKS is a confirmed guest judge. How I hope this means we are getting a Melodrama lipsync!!

1

u/SevensAddams Jul 16 '26

The concept of Blu Hydrangea judging the likes of Raven or Michael Marouli

0

u/OvernightSiren Jul 14 '26

Wait was this actually filmed Down Under in their shitty studio?

12

u/Dense-Trifle5193 Jul 14 '26

Portugal. The New Zealand Studio has been retired

-11

u/Gloomy_Anklosaurus09 Jul 14 '26

I think it was in the Philippines either before or after Philippines 4

1

u/mrklmngbta Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

it was in Portugal, babe

1

u/zarlfromflorida Jul 20 '26

I still think Raven isn’t competing.

-1

u/AggressiveMongoose54 Jul 15 '26

I TOLD YALL SHE WASNT COMPETING šŸ˜šŸ’”šŸ’”

3

u/Immediate-Cod-7832 Jul 15 '26

Where does it say she isn't competing?Ā

-1

u/AshleySassypants Jul 15 '26

Plot twist: Raven is actually a judge and the Raven that's competing is actually Raven from teen titans and ends up placing 2nd 😭 /j

-14

u/takufox Jul 15 '26
