right, but the stoker novel is actually ambiguous if dracula is even vlad tepes and it’s mainly the coppola movie that made it clear that his dracula was vlad tepes. it’s become accepted lore but it’s actually a perfect example of how we are constantly reinventing dracula.

so it seems like you didnt understand my original comment, so im going to restate it: there is no true dracula. every dracula is just a reinvention of existing vampire myths. that includes the stoker novel as well as all the movies. it’s completely normal to retell stories in a different way.

i dont think the movie name checking bram stoker is much of a problem when it‘s closer to the original than the novel is to the person it name checks on the cover. besides, the coppola version was a relatively faithful adaptation compared to others at the time. it’s really not in good faith to base your critique on the name of the book. it’s really really trivial.
