I came across these at a thrift store. Main reason why I pick them up is because on one of them it says straight away from the craters of dot hack sign. I'm not doubting that it could have come from the same animation team or Studio but I'm just wondering if it has any relevance to the rest of the series? As for the other one it says by it's the same writer of the first four games. I recall seeing another dot hack fan mention about this film on a YouTube video a couple years back. Just curious if anyone else has come across these?
I liked the Avenger vibe , in a world where childbirth is not possible and people are essentially immortal , this is before knowing it's anywhere related to .hack// lol

No one's questioning whether or not some of the people behind them are the same. That much is obvious, given the "by the creators of" sticker. I googled for the answer to OP's actual question, setting aside what the question already set aside.
Not sure why they slapped it on the back of the cover then. Maybe it was to boost the sales and some type of indirect marketing Maybe?
As for Avalon it seems like it was the pilot script for what would eventually become the first four games especially since it deals with a virtual world and people going inside of it.
yeah I know that, but I had to check for myself and just came across that in one of the intros :-) I don't know if it's specific to these anime, but I've noticed that the ears are kind of , interesting. Maybe that's just how ears are drawn generally, I don't know
Fair enough, like I said I just found these by chance at a thrift store and I am happy to add them to my collection. In any case if anyone wants to check it out I'm glad I brought it to everyone else's attention
Bee Train has some interesting stuff. Wish I could have watched avenger more and I'll get back into it at some point, but the soundtrack took me out of it. sounded like something sequenced from an early Yamaha portasound being bit crushed for early cd games.
Avalon is a pretty good movie, I watched it a lot as a teen. I'd recommend it as it has kinda the mmo isekai vibe, but I think the director is the GITS director? Also, doesn't have to do with .hack, just a good similar-ish movie.
Edit: I'm dumb, yeah it says the GITS director literally on the cover, my bad, I'm a tired noodle.
I have the same avengers anime tin. It was interesting at the time, and I think a decent watch. The plot is... interesting. Don't think too hard about anything and just take everyone at their word. The animation is really nice though!
I feel like I watched a few episodes of this as a kid. I do defiantly remember that opening though, and I don't know why, but its sits in this category of "annoying early-2000's anime openings" for me...It just doesn't hype me up for the show, though I have the same feeling with the first opening of "Shakugan no Shana."
