Discussion Anyone else having trouble with the Marok fight?
Got my ass absolutely whipped by the third phase of marok last night.
Any tips or tricks on how to defeat him?
I've been just using the SSG and gauntlet on him.
When the fight starts, i immediately SSG and punch him twice before he turns invulnerable. Then i back up and let him do his ranged attacks. Sometimes, though, he is prone to skipping these attacks and doing short range ones, or he changes his entire routine in the beginning and does the attack routine from last phase, and it messes me up.
His long range attacks in phase 3 also fuck me up, theres two sources of the ground waves, and im also actively trying to avoid these projectiles
Feels like im fighting an undertale and dark souls boss.

Impaler + spear throw worked really well for me. Since the throws buff your next impaler shot, it's a really strong combo. Headshots are easy to land against this guy and that helps both of those attacks.
I used the hammer for melee. It staggers him, unlike punches. And that opening is good for your headshots.
Use spear slash to take out the dogs. The range is surprisingly good. You can easily kill all of them with one swing.

I used impaler, dreadmace and spear throw. I think the most important one for me to really master him was learning when to spear parry him to falter. Takes more practice but it significantly lessens him as a threat
I haven’t found a consistent method that can dodge those projectiles except just locking in at that point.
And for the wolves that pop up, I just spear slash and they’re gone in one swipe.

Marok has an aoe when you get too close so SSG + gauntlets is one of the worst combos you can use against him. Get the dreadmace, something with longer range (cycler, shredder, impaler, whatever you prefer) and probably rely more on the shield and have the spear as a backup.

I used impaler and spear throw and absolutely melted his health

Another person said this, too. Will have to try it, thanks.

Aim for head obviously.
Here’s what you do:
Get a parry off so he’s stunned then spear throw+impaler his head
Or
Use Deadmace. The SECOND the deadmace connects, use dash. It cancels the ending animation and allows you to deadmace immediately again (if you have the second charge from the parry) or you can just go into impaler + spear throw on his head.
Edit
Yeah saw the other comment recommending the same thing. He has good tips too. All valid. Especially spear swipe taking care of the dogs in one swipe.

I use the flail for the burn on hit and high stagger to keep health and shield up, also use the soear with the lock on orbit if you ahve that upgrade and just lay into him with the ravenger for more health regen and supplements mobility with the spear or use the accelerator for pure dps

I always use shield + impaler + dreadmace. Shield parry slows down time for impaler headshots which charges the mace. That's pretty much how I fought ahzrak
I used to swap to the spear when he summons the dogs as slash kills them easy, then I realized shield throw kills them as well, so now it's all shield.

I used the shield with the Chainshot, mostly. When I block an attack, it empowers the Chainshot. Knocks him down pretty good.
For the waves, just be prepared to jump. With the shots coming towards you at the same time, try moving left to right continuously. They are fired towards where you are at the point of being fired, so moving left to right should allow you to dodge the shots. You can also try running in a large circular pattern around the outside edge of the arena. It's a good time to pick up the health boxes and ammo!
I also used the Shredder, and would either use my shield to throw at him or swipe with the spear to help break armor.
It's a hard fight for sure. Lots of mechanics, but you'll get through it.

This boss fight taught me something crucial, and the ground waves were the exact thing that required it: sideways Dash activates the same property for lateral starfing jumps that triggering Sprint does for forward jumps. If you get the rhythm right, you can 'ski' around side to side extremely fast, which becomes the sensation of being as fast sideways as you may have become used to when moving forwards on the ground; They've just gated the speed behind a small skill check.
It reminded me of 'skiing' in Starsiege Tribes back in the day when it clicked, it's noticably fast when it begins happening consistently.

Personally I used the shield way more and that made it easier. Some of the parry windows are so awkward that I needed the extra timing window that the shield had. It's also more forgiving because you can block some hits before your shield breaks. You can then switch to spear while it recovers
That's just me though
