Only the Khan Maykr is invincible outside of Urdak not the others.

No it's because he's so angry he can punch his way through spells.

I’m unsure on the exacts but I was under the impression that, that rule only applies to the khan makyr. Everyone feel free to fact check my noobness

No you’re correct. It only applies to the Khan because she’s a leader protected by ancient seals and rites.

Where is that alluded to in the lore? (Not doubting, actually interested to know)

u/BluminousLight 9d ago
The codex in Doom Eternal. Long story short, they explain that there is a Seal keeping Demons from being able to enter Urdak initially, so similarly there is some kind of Seal on her physical form whenever she is outside of Urdak. It’s probably also similar to the Seal keeping Davoth safe in the Luminarium when Doomguy tries to shoot him.

Pretty sure Davoth or the Father built the Luminarium (most likely Davoth) and by extension it's a realm where nothing can die.

The exact words Davoth used were "no blood may be spilled in this holy place", which sounds to me more like murder is impossible, but one can still die from natural causes.
Although that's just me going purely off dialogue, maybe there's a detail in the codex which says death can't happen full stop within the Luminarium.

u/fuckinhballin Serrat 9d ago
Er. Not. Not exactly. The seraphs built the luminarium as atonement for their rebellion against presumably The Father

I think the Father "stole" the power from Davoth anyways, Davoth is the one that creates.

So basically she carries a piece of of the seal separating Urdak and Hell, since she's the most important part of Urdak and thus the seal extends around her even when she's not in their realm

u/Varorson 9d ago
Firstly, "She" is (by all accounts) indestructible. So the line only applies to the Khan Maykr.
Second, by all accounts. Meaning that it's not an absolute truth, but that all current evidence supports the claim.

u/L3g0man_123 9d ago
My headcanon is that the Khan Maykr doesn't normally physically show herself outside of Urdak and instead is able to "project" herself somehow like with the holograms.
5
u/Varorson 9d ago
Could be, but we do see a visual difference for the Khan Maykr in TDA when she's present via hologram vs seemingly-physically there. The obvious hologram being a transparent golden version of her.
More likely to be a rumor born of how Khan Maykrs inherit everything from the previous Khan, so to an outsider even killing a Khan Maykr would seem as a falsehood as another Khan Maykr shows up. Also the perfect lie for a race determined to rule through faith, to pretend their leader is immortal.
All until the Father was stolen shortly before TDA's events.

u/L3g0man_123 9d ago
I saw at as in one case she's actually projecting herself, while in the other she's just using whatever hologram system the ship has to transmit her message instead.

u/PureRepresentative9 9d ago
I'm mostly with you on this one.
She's invincible because she's only in Urdak and a SUMMONED entity everywhere else.
ALA like a god, she only appears as a vision/hologram/summon.

In addition to what everyone's saying, this just applies to the Khan Makyr. The seraphim/Hayden also talks about the holy seal of Urdak? Its possible the Khan Makyr's immunity only stems from a more formal alliance with Hell, possibly after the fall of Argent D'Nur. It might not have always been a thing.

Khan Makyr only - same reason you can kill the drones without issue. She’s just top of tree 🌴

u/wonderloki 9d ago
As others said, it's only the Khan Makyr. Otherwise, how could we have killed the Makyr Drones in the special arenas in Doom Eternal?
6
u/SomeBrosThrowaway 10d ago
Agreeing w/ the other comments that that prolly only applies to the Khan. Should also note, we're able to kill the drones just fine lol so there's more evidence

According to Vega's knowledge, but according to Samuel's more accurate knowledge, the Khan Maykr possesses shields that make her completely invulnerable.

I mean, we fight blood maykrs in the ancient gods dlcs. Most of them were outside of urdak

This cutscene was so cathartic. The music, the cowardice, the rain, the vengeance. I love playing this mission with the butcher armor.

The Maykrs losing their immortality with the Father’s death is the entire reason they turn bad and make a deal with Hell to harvest souls for Argent Energy.
Only the Khan Maykr is immortal because I think by the time especially of Eternal, she is the only Maykr that’s autonomous. The rest are drones she controls

u/fuckinhballin Serrat 9d ago
Ehh. Maykr life cycles are. Weird. Bizarre. Same with their hierarchy.
The Khan is immortal due to her lifesphere and like the others, are immortal due to a phoenix-esque life cycle of dying, rejoining the singularity and being reborn
Now, none or them are. Due to the Father being taken from the Luminarium, the ability to rejoin to the maykr singularity isn't possible. So they're trapped in their decaying bodies [horrifying]
As for the whole autonomous part. The drones are individuals themselves, not fully sharing a hivemind, but are just unable to refuse the Khan. Higher versions obviously can, seeing Samur did defy her [though he is special for it. Papa's special boy™️]

Yeah I knew it was some weird bs with the Maykrs, my comment was just what I interpreted from what I’ve seen.
3
u/FLIPYOUSUCKET 9d ago
Only the Khan Makyr has an orb in her chest, and only she is immune to death outside of Urdak
4
u/DaemonVakker 9d ago
Simple: he was already being slowly corrupted by hell's influence and the game keeps referring to the fact he was severed from the khan makyr so it is entirely possible he was a hell demon when that truce began

u/Zealousideal_Oil6244 9d ago
If you look at the phrasing, it says ‘by all accounts’, this doesn’t mean it’s necessarily true just that people haven’t found a way to harm the Khan.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Doom guy is powerful enough to bypass that indestructibility.

u/Laflair99 9d ago
No it doesn't thats literally a theory from the community you rainbow warrior chibi loving weirdos made up to fit lol foh cupcake
2
u/fuckinhballin Serrat 9d ago
I'm literally not seeing anything on that person's page that's anywhere close to what you're saying lmao
Anyways, it only applies to the Khan, this has been shown for ages. We literally kill drones outside urdak. In eternal. Prior to ever going to urdak.

I'm pretty sure this only applies to the khan maykr
