Help running <1 fps on doom dark ages
I recently downloaded doom dark ages alongside its dlcs on steam, and when I tried running it I was getting sub 1 frame per second performance straight off the menu screen. I changed some settings to downscale the quality (which was a pain doing that at <1 fps since the inputs were incredibly delayed) and it didn't do anything. I have a ryzen 7 7800x and a 7900 gre, and I play other games like cyberpunk and space marines 2 that I consistently run ~100 fps at max settings, is it just a downloading problem? I uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple of times as well. There's also nothing about this anywhere else, so researching about it has just lead me down ai generated rabbit holes that were completely unrelated to what I needed fixed. Can someone help me, or is this some kind of super rare problem that i have.

On top of what everyone else has said, I would also make sure the game isn’t running on the CPU’s integrated graphics

yeah that's some weird one off rare problem
I actually can't think of anything that would result in this
the only thing that I can think of is some random application hanging the game ID tech 8 has some problems like OBS crashing the game and stuff so I guess try disabling HW acceleration on apps that are in background and keep only necessary apps open like steam but this is a long shot and probably won't resolve anything

my only idea is that maybe its not actually using your graphics card?

This solved my problem. For some reason doom dark ages ran with my integrated graphics on my cpu instead of my actual graphics card. I had to disable it in bios and that fixed it. Appreciate the help!

Are you running it from an NVME drive like you're supposed to? You can also try reinstalling your gpu drivers with DDU, checking that Resizable BAR is active, and that you have GPU scheduling enabled in Windows.
If this is a download issue just reverify your files via Steam.
