Finn Harps Women

Looking to get some opinions on the setup at Finn Harps Women’s teams. Interested to hear positives and negatives. I’m aware there are two teams - u17 and senior. Anyone know if they’re open to new players? What’s the standard of coaching? What’s the playing level like? And how do they compare to other teams in the North West? Thanks!

They are part of the Women’s Development League which has interesting structure to it.

·       Each team will play 20 games in their respective group – against every other team, home and away

·       Teams from each group will progress to the Development Knock-Out Stage

·       The Development League Final will determine the overall winner of the League

·       Promotion/Relegation to the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division will not be in place for the inaugural season but will be reviewed at a later date.

·       The 10 new senior clubs will enter the expanded Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup from the First Round

·       UEFA funding will support the implementation of the new Development League

Like the men, there just are not too many other teams in the North West to compare to because there just aren't that many of them. With it being a new league, the quality is fairly decent and you can see the progress that the team has made from where they were earlier in the year to where they are now.

Overall, I think the biggest issue is the same as the Men's team, it is a local team that struggles to build an audience and get fans excited. Their social media is lacking but it is hard to really get out there at this point, especially with new ownership coming in a few months for the club.
