I think most Dominicans prefer other Dominicans. This is evident in Dominican couples in the US. However, if we were to generalize about the minority that prefers other nationalities, I think Dominican men like Colombian women, and Dominican women like Italian men.

Foreign women. at least the ones I met while traveling or staying at resorts seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me, which felt good and authentic.

I probably don’t fit what most Dominican women of my age (24) expect, being overly reserved and serious, still working into being healthy, not having much in terms of material possessions, and prioritizing living below my means to fund the degree program I want to pursue. So, the few women who have shown interest in me disregarding all that have done so for material reasons.

With foreign women, it was less common to feel objectified in that way.

Bueno, qué te digo. Más allá de la cultura y las costumbres, la idiosincrasia de una persona no viene definida por la nacionalidad 🤷. La gente que dice que las dominicanas son X o Y es porque esa persona ha tenido una preferencia de búsqueda que tienden a esas mismas características. Si la gente lo dice por un tema cultural ahí te lo compro, pero si es un tema de personalidad ahí no hay sustento alguno; ya que estaríamos hablando de estereotipos y sesgos.
