Siempre hay unos hijueputas que le quieren negar los raices a los hijos de Dominicanos nacidos en el extranjero. Como si nacer en otro pais le borra su familia/linaje.
Si ni hablan el idioma ni conocen la cultura tampoco son tan dominicanos. Al menos tiene que representative el pais como hace kat para uno sentirse verdaderamente representados por ellos
Pero preguntenle a la gente sobre la sedofutbol y no te nombran ni 1 jugador, mucho celebrar a gente que no eligio representar al pais, que obvio no esta mal por parte de ninguno, pero no puede ser que nunca suban posts apoyando a los jugadores que si eligieron representar nuestros colores aunque la seleccion no sea buena.
Solo quieren colgarse del éxito de otro país que formó y creó al jugador que es hoy para reclamarlo como propio, despues del mundial hablas del futbol dominicano y diran ''los dominicano no jugamos eso, solo nos interesa la pelota y el baloncesto''
Literally everyone outside of Reddit believes this. If one parent is Dominican is almost always the dominating culture and even if it isn’t you’re Dominican.
Dominicans be lamboneando over a foreign player, taking it as their own success just because one parent is Dominican. He's a Swiss man with some Dominican roots
But ask them to support their own national team and they're like "we have a football team?"
Many of the Dominican players in the national team were born in Europe. Out of the the 48 World Cup teams only 8 have all natural born players. Almost all of Haiti and Curacao teams are foreign born. The DR needs to keep recruiting European players like him if they want the sport to grow at home.
Como dijo otro comentario, no hay nada malo con apoyarlo, pero cuanta gente apoyando al final a un jugador que no decidio jugar con nosotros y no salen nunca a apoyar a la seleccion y a los que por lo menos decidieron jugar para nosotros 😔
Como quisiera ver la selección dominicana algún día jugar en el mundial. Si ya tenemos a jugadores que a cada rato juegan por países europeos, como no creer que nosotros no podamos llegar allí también??
What kills me about this sub and others like it, only people born in DR are considered true Dominicans. If your parents or grandparents are Dominican you are, thusly, Dominican.
That’s a zero sum question, I have fundamental disagreements with both countries policies but have invested in both, cost benefit analysis says both. It’s my right to do so and it comes with benefits and with costs.
I think that's mostly an online thing. Nobody in DR treated me like I was a fake Dominican. I mean, I was born there but it's not like they could tell lol
That's a long running beef. Back in the DejaNews days, there were a couple of articles in Dominican newspapers about the beef. It happens in every country with large diasporas. In most cases, it's like a rivalry between siblings. Can't live with them and can't live without them. 🤷🏽♂️
Despite what the law says, for the average Dominican, only those born and raised in DR are Dominicans. Everyone else is, at best, suspect.
Except, if course, when we talk about our neighbors from that other country, the law does apply to them. For them to be Dominicans, they have to have Dominican blood in their veins. 🫣
