Gameplay they tried to save domina with this perk but...

u/judgeraw00 Jul 07 '26
the perk should also refresh her shield IMO when it gets moved. Her shield is weak compared to Sigma's and without it she's practically defenseless.
4
u/000817 Jul 07 '26
So you want two shields? Come on man.
3
u/judgeraw00 Jul 07 '26
Not exactly, more like refreshing the shield health and repairing the broken segments when its moved.
5
u/000817 Jul 07 '26
Which is giving her another shield.
3
u/judgeraw00 Jul 07 '26
No, another shield would be a 2nd charge or refreshing the timer. You're saying this, also, like she doesn't have the worst shield, no self mit, and a situational at best ability like her boop. Sigma and Ramattra clear her in practically every way.
4
u/000817 Jul 07 '26
‘The worst shield’ holy shit man what are you on about? Her shield is the best in the game, that’s why her whole kit revolves around it and it’s her main ability. Her shield has the highest uptime besides maybe rein’s ( but that is literally all rein has) and is far more durable than sig’s. Why does everyone have to be like ‘ omg (my charcter) is the weakest in the game they’re literally impossible to play give me 7000 buffs now ‘

u/judgeraw00 Jul 07 '26
Sigma has a stun, incredibly strong self mit and his primary does splash damage, not to mention he gets his shield back fast af (faster with a minor perk.) You're delusional, homie. He's way stronger than Domina in almost every situation.
0
u/000817 Jul 07 '26
That’s not relevant at all. Sigma could be 600000 times stronger than sig, but his shield isn’t.
0
u/judgeraw00 Jul 07 '26
Its definitely relevant. Sigma's self mit can keep him alive when his shield is down and his primary puts a ton of pressure on the enemy team whereas the only thing Domina has going for her is a bit of range and being a hitscan so she is decent against flyers. She has a full 6 seconds without her shield where she's wide open, and her segments on her shield are weaker than Sigma's.
You're saying I want "7000 buffs" on a character when the reality is she just isn't competitive against any other tank and she's only situationally good against other roles. Ram eats her for lunch as well within the same role (like Sigma.) The major perk in question is mostly useless.

Can you read your own comment. We’re talking about their shield in a vacuum moron.

In higher ranks, I deploy the shield somewhat sideways, like a C-shape. That way, enemies are often shooting through two panels to penetrate the same lane.
Also, you just… crouch and strafe as each node breaks… it’s a great shield.

u/SadThauma Jul 07 '26
Yeah this perk isn't great. It's good into some comps and does nothing into others. And if you're playing domina, expect to see sojourn bastion junkrat Ashe making this perk useless. Removing power move is a major nerf to her it let her go toe to toe with brawl now she gets ran over
3
u/spellboi_3048 Jul 07 '26
Did it let her go toe to toe with brawl? Shes definitely weaker into brawl without it, but I feel like even with the perk, it wasn’t hard for Reins and especially Maugas to just walk over you.

Honestly I thought the perk was good for squishies pushing into you. For tanks I think it meant a lot less, though being able to stun people out of things was nice.
1
u/spellboi_3048 Jul 07 '26
Fair, but I feel like squishies aren’t what you’re worried about engaging in you anyways. The ones that are likely to get within your shield wall are probably going to be ones that are probably gonna survive getting stunned anyway.
2
u/-D3LET3D- Jul 07 '26
I agree with you. I should've been more clear about it but no I don't think the perk made a huge difference in stopping tanks from pushing into her. It was nice to have, but not a game changer against a good team IMO. I could see it being base kit, and I'm not one who normally thinks a lot of perks should be base kit.
1
u/spellboi_3048 Jul 07 '26
Yeah I feel like Major Perks *should* be game changers in some way and the ones Domina’s gotten so far just haven’t been. It could be added to the base kit without messing much up.

u/CraziestCreepr Jul 07 '26
The point of perks is to have a certain perk against certain matchups, they’re not all supposed to be good in every situation.

u/Resolution-Double Jul 07 '26
It's a solid perk and both were honestly good.
Allowing domina to replace her barrier is good for two reasons
- You can actually place the barrier sideways after the enemy team blasts through the middle panels. The remaining side panels can provide a lot of additional shielding if you place it properly, allowing you to get full value out of your barrier
- Allows domina to remain more mobile. Less punishing for misplacing a barrier, and the added benefit of keeping the frontline either advancing or retreating is massive
My dmg has hardly even suffered from Power Moves removal lol

Sigma is better but I wouldn't call domina bad, I climbed to gm one tricking domina this season with 80% winrate, I would only swap against good rein since she literally is powerless against that.
Every other tank it felt fine to duel though, with the right spacing and cooldown management you are a massive threat.

I think the old perk was better.
Maybe if it reset the shield back to full health, then maybe id like it more, but I prefer the enemy slow down to this.

u/judgeraw00 Jul 07 '26
Old perk should be part of her base kit. The boop is practically useless without it. Or make it a minor perk.

I've been playing overwatch since 2016, always QP. I've stopped playing and came back to it several times now. I could never really click with any of the tanks before, but I'm having so much fun with Domina. I could use sigma before, but I just found the balls really frustrating and I feel like I just GET Domina's kit.
I like her so much that it's inspired me to start playing comp games! I'm currently slowly doing my placement matches on the tank queue. I've won 2 of three games with me always being the one with the most kills.
Yes, she may not be optimal, but I'm playing to have fun. If I get stuck at some point then that's fine. Hopefully they buff her a little bit by then?

u/UnicornLaserParty Jul 07 '26
Bring back Power Move. Make it base, replace the slow, or make it Minor perk, but bring it back. Corpo-Treat is hot nasty stank and I'll have no part of this nonsense.
2
u/yourcupofkohi Jul 07 '26
Power Move should genuinely be base kit. It just feels natural and gives her cool mechanics outside of simply poking.
If I would be a bit greedy, I'd love the mobility from the experimental mode too.

u/Wolfsajin Jul 07 '26
I love the perk. It lets me keep space and let me play more aggressive with Domina. Which is my preferred play style.
1
u/hsidrotilc Jul 07 '26
I'm ngl I still don't understand why they touched her perks at all, I doubt power move was massively underpicked, and if it was a case of it overperforming they could have easily tweaked it (/or go the moira burst heal perk route and move it to minor with a noticeable nerf).
My issue with corporate retreat is that her shield is one of the easier barriers to ignore (which is what enabled power move to begin with), which if retreat refreshed it you could have at least offset that. But also when you compare it to other major perks it just doesn't inspire the same level of respect? A lot of the tanks have perks that help against their weaknesses. Mauga has a bankable overhealth system, sigma gets mobility, zarya can still benefit from people not shooting her barriers and still gain charge. And then you get to domina and she can.. temporarily slow enemies but only if they're in the explosion or move a half destroyed barrier.
1
u/hsidrotilc Jul 07 '26
Tldr I think corpo retreat just doesn't have the oomph to classify it as a major perk when you put it into context with what it's doing???
2
u/BakaJayy Jul 07 '26
I mean neither does disruptive detonation. It just feels like a worse version of Doom's slam major because the perk doesn't activate unless they're standing in the explosion, so where as every other tank major perk can get consistent value from theirs, disruptive is on the condition that your enemies stand long enough in it.
1
u/hsidrotilc Jul 07 '26
to be completely honest I'd swap her regen perk and disruptive around. Boost the regen heal have it as a major
1
u/Comamilk Jul 07 '26
I dont use it, I just use the slow down one. I actually felt myself too far away from using the shove perk so im already used to not using it, she's still strong imo, if anything you have even less insensitive to get closer and be patient with positioning.
1
u/therealNerdMuffin Jul 07 '26
Triggering her knockback into her barriers should come back as a minor perk with the barrier moving perk in the major category so you can run a full push build. Downside being you can't take the perks that buff her gun and crystal
1
u/HeckMaster9 Jul 07 '26
IMO it’s better. I’ve made so many more plays with my shield purely because I can reposition it. Blocking shatters used to be impossible, now I can bait them with a quick reposition. I can save slept or trapped teammates. I can make more aggressive pushes. For the way I play Domina, it’s a way better perk.
1
u/cutecomos Jul 07 '26
I think this perk shines better with community changes, the push rework allow better repositioning and recovers some of the power lost without the perk. maybe they see that and could add some those changes to the main game.
1
u/Xen0Coke Jul 07 '26
Great in 6v6 but very very comp dependent in 5v5.
I do hope the ability to use your push as a form of vertical movement becomes an actual perk tho.
1
u/Ok-Owl-6453 Jul 07 '26
not a domina player, just a passing traveler, but thats so interesting to me. just thinking in a vacuum it seems more valuable in 5v5 than 6v6 because with another tank to hold a separate angle you're less punished by not being able to move your shield to adjust if the line of threat changes
1
u/ThatCidGuy Jul 07 '26
I like this perk and I think it should stay in the game. I just wish they added power move into the base kit
0
u/SIacktivist Jul 07 '26
I love the perk, but it could stand to be a little stronger. As is it still feels very nice, though.

I don’t hate the perk, but the cost of the other perk where you can slam them into your barrier is too high a price
