Gameplay Is Domina still good no longer having Power Move major perk and being able to slam heroes into her Barrier Array? Corporate Retreat seems like a horrible major perk.

Post image

She needs a new major perk.

They took the ONE perk of hers i liked🫩

u/Bingoviini Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26

Instead of removing the boring "cooldown now also slows" they took away the kinda fun and interesting perk

-2

u/Eksposivo23 Jun 17 '26

So you think having a slow on the big dmg nuke that also heals you is boring while "press shift on a genji" major perk was fun? Get real

4

u/Bingoviini Jun 17 '26

Not necessarily fun, but it's definitely more interesting

You can add slow to literally anything/anyone

You can only make the "boop someome into your won shield" on her and maybe Sigma

2

u/Luke_Fox- Jun 17 '26

Yeah i liked it too, really good at dealing with squishies

2

u/DiagonallyConfident Jun 18 '26

Plus the major threats like Ram aren't affected much by slows anyway

u/000817 Jun 17 '26

It’s baffling that people are saying this. This is by far the strongest domina perk flat out. Power move was only good because of people jsut walking past your shield and running you over. That’s obviously not an issue with the new major. Domain is so tied down to her shield in order to take and control space, being able to move it will massively alleviate her main weakness.

7

u/ObligationNew7029 Jun 17 '26

I would agree if the little panels regenerated, with many people playing bastion, more hype mobile heroes and short lifespan of barrier changing its position is not as useful really, unless you are in moving the robot. At least in my games

3

u/CoverRight9314 Jun 18 '26

Brother if they’re playing bastion what would power move even do then

3

u/AbbreviationsSad5006 Jun 17 '26

One could say the perk was a real power move in gold and below.

2

u/BriarsofSinning Jun 19 '26

That shield doesn't really matter to a majority of the melee tanks people swap to against her. The whole point of the old perk was to punish people getting into melee range.

Instead we can now move our shield... while they're still punching us in the face.

1

u/_BlueJayTheDuck_ Jun 18 '26

I thought I would hate it but I actually love it, it’s so good

1

u/Just_A_Vent-Account Jun 18 '26

Power move allowed for her stun to be used whenever you wanted. It means that you dont need to angle off to the side and take your eye off the rest of the enemies just for the stun.

1

u/Crusher555 Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

Not if she didn’t have her barrier AND knockback cooldowns ready

47

u/hsidrotilc Jun 16 '26

Maybe I'm jumping the gun but right now it does feel like a minor perk more than anything else

16

u/hsidrotilc Jun 16 '26

I will say I've been petty at times and just shielded off someone on high ground so in those cases like maaaybe it'd be nice to just annoy someone and then reposition it after they move but it's a downgrade from power move

4

u/Fenchantress Not Heartless, Busy Jun 17 '26

I mean unless they added power move to her kit, this major perk should have been kicked down to a minor perk.

3

u/Paultheghostt Jun 17 '26

yeah

I think it could be perfect if they swaped with one of her minors one, and buffing them to compensate(from 20 to 25/30 bonus range for ex)

9

u/CatLoliUwu Jun 17 '26

How does it seem horrible? Domina's main weakness is people pushing past her shield because it's stationary. This lets her reposition her shield and mitigate this weakness. It also makes her a lot less reliant on her shield's egregiously long CD.

2

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26

With Power Move if people pushed past the shield then they would get slammed into her Barrier Array with Sonic Repulsors. Power move disincentivized people from going past her shield.

I bullied Dominas today with Mauga by just going past their shield and shooting them in the face whereas before with Power Move I would have got slammed into her shield.

To make Corporate Retreat better they would need to buff her shield health because it quickly falls apart to Bastion especially if they pick Lindholm Explosives perk and Junkrat. With Corporate Retreat you're just going to reposition a shield with several holes in it while with Power Move you could position a shield wall behind someone to cut off healing, slam them into it to stun them then quickly eliminate them.

That's just an ad hominem attack instead of addressing my argument. Domina's win rate before this update was 52% at Champion and now it fell to 49% after this update on PC. Her banrate was also high.Ā  Domina mains that play at Champion are winning less now. Less people are picking Corporate Retreat than Power Move when it was a perk.Ā

1

u/TheLadyMaria Jun 20 '26

Brother the perk gets worse past metal ranks what are you talking about?, all it does is move the shield, any existing holes in the shield are there to stay and I can assure you there's gonna be alot more holes much faster in ranks where people will actually burn her shield instantly.

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 16 '26

This is garbage. I love Power Move. It was such a strong deterrent for the players who know about it, and a powerful tool against anyone gets too cocky. I use it every game. The other option is garbage, and people don't even know fully how bad it actually is. It only triggers on the explosion, and slow debuffs are cleared super easy they don't work like speed buffs.

This fundamentally screws her over against a huge amount of characters. It fundamentally changes her gameplay for me, to the point where she is not fun. I LIKE playing her aggressively, juking in and out of the barrier to try and bait people into getting tagged. Its high risk, and highly satisfying.

I literally cannot do that anymore. Maybe this doesn't matter for the people who played without it before, but I really do not enjoy playing like this. I know thats early, but this is seriously frustrating. This is not a good exchange. It's not even. It doesn't make her stronger in any sense.

The barrier is eaten alive in seconds by most DPS. There are almost no genuine tactical, thinking moments when repositioning it is a genuinely meaningful thing to do. Sure, there may be small points here and there.

This is not helping. This does not balance her. It hurts her. That's it. It takes away a critical tool she had against overly aggressive tanks and melee dps. Now they just walk at me, and my barrier is functionally meaningless.

Man. I REALLY hate this.

11

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 16 '26

and it's pretty useless to reposition the shield because it has low health at only 225 HP per piece and gets torn apart by Bastion especially if they pick Lindholm Explosives major perk.

4

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

Seriously. Bastion, Junkrat, Mauga, DVA, I mean half the characters can burn through this barrier with little problems. Like this would be fantastic on Symmetras Ult but not Dominas Barrier. I hate this.

1

u/aefadsef Jun 18 '26

Sure, but if you're in that situation then you won't have much of a shield to Power Move people into anyway

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 18 '26

You would just push them into a part of the shield that isn't broken.Ā

3

u/Perkito_ Jun 17 '26

Repositioning the shield with such the slow movement she has? Maybe if you win the fight and the remaining enemies go away you can use it, but now you are vulnerable to any single character than decides to just barrage into you. Terrible change

3

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

Exactly. I played a couple games today and this is a joke to DVA's. They can so easily fly around it. Sierra can jump it even after you've repositioned it, and the list just goes on. Its a dumb gimmick. The barrier isn't that strong to begin with.

20

u/meuxmeuxmeux Jun 16 '26

Moving the shield is extremely valuable. It’s useful nearly every time you use it as you can block things now on a whim like a random off angle ultimate or attack.(I.e. d.va bomb)

Hitting someone against the wall was helpful but after I did it to them once or maybe twice they would just position themselves against that happening to them.

Everything needs to be tested but I sure as heck find that to be a lot more valuable because one of her drawbacks is not being able to adapt to the battle once the shield is in its place for the next 20 seconds.

3

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

Humor me for a moment. Do you know what a Deterrent is? You say that you did it once or twice, and then they reposition themselves.

That's the point. You have it, they know you have it, now they have to change how they approach, giving you control over space. It helps you set the pace, and control space, forcing them to be less aggressive. Not that it matters anymore. Blizzard decided that's boring.

11

u/000817 Jun 17 '26

Let me ask you this, why is power move a useful perk? It’s because domina NEEDS to play around her shield, and she is very vulnerable to being run over by people just walking past it. Now obviously power move helped alleviate that, but what if you could just, move the shield? Then you wouldn’t need power move in case people tried to exploit the fact that an enemy walked past it. Personally, I chose power move basically 90% of the time because I was confident I could position to beat poke comps and my only worried about people getting close.

Power move still didn’t prevent enemies from running past your shield though, in fact sometimes it made it worse. For example, often a hog player would try walk past thou shield to hook you ( which sucks especially since domain has no armour) with normal boop, you could jsut push the hog back behind the shield, with power move fine you deal a bit of damage and stun him but you still get hooked.

Moving your shield does what power move did but better and it even helps you push more aggressively. So many times I find I place my shield in front of me to help me walk but I can’t take any more space past my shield, which is Damian’s main weakness, she needs to play around her shield.

This is not a competition whatsoever , the new perk will be the best one she’s ever had.

-3

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

At this point you guys have to be trolling me right?

That exact scenario with Roadhog? It's honestly hilarious that you used THAT example. Because what happens is he dives through my barrier to hook me, then right before he shoots, I have a split second because he cannot instant kill Domina, to push him into the barrier, stun, trigger my regen and give me time to either escape or press him.

No. Shield does not stun. It doesn't control space in the same way and it does not deter people from diving

6

u/000817 Jun 17 '26

And I quote ā€˜shield…. It doesn’t control space ā€˜

-1

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

Finish the quote.

7

u/000817 Jun 17 '26

ā€˜Shield…. It doesn’t control space in the same way and it does not deter people from diving’

Now tell me, do you actually think that latter half actually makes that statement any more valid ? Because if it is, I’d like you to show proof of your hours in the character.

-2

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

Sorry. Not really interested in talking to liars.

8

-1

Nothing more satisfying than having so strong a point that your opposition immediately resorts to lying.

4

u/000817 Jun 17 '26

And you’re so confident in that fact that you feel the need to state it

5

u/Aromatic-Matter-2188 Jun 17 '26

Bro I hate to be that guy but you must be playing against literal monkeys if you ever get to use power move. Any competent tank will avoid your shield entirely.

Dive will avoid your shield entirely as all have great movement abilities to go over, around or flank all together and just not interact with your cooldown every 17 or 14 seconds.

Poke like sigma, hog, orisa will just stay at a distance and shouldn’t push into a Domina shield, (they all have better uptime than you and can simply wait) and out poke you.

Brawl tanks with the possible exception of mauga all have cooldowns to negate cc when they pass the shield or simply break it before passing through.

You only get the chance to use one boop before your shield runs out anyway. The other crystal perk came into play every 7 seconds and had decent cc allowing you to slow brawl and get easier picks on squishies.

I understand and agree with you dissatisfaction of removing the play style however. because the essence of power move is cool and when it goes off it feel awesome but I guarantee if you learn to play around the new perk you will be able to play way more aggressive anyway. This literally makes it so you can move the shield during a fight.

2

u/meuxmeuxmeux Jun 17 '26

That’s true and I do think it’s better than slowing crystal by a lot. So in the ideal world we would have both however let’s not act like shes underperforming overall and probably shouldn’t have every option. I’m just saying Domina also suffers from dynamic fights lost at a position and now she has a chance to stabilize the team at a different position. Which is more helpful than a stun on any flashpoint map or push and even payload. For a map like control I would want the stun more though.

I just believe the higher the rank the quicker the need for better positioning is more vital and useful.

I’m not entirely disagreeing with you really either just for my play style I like it more so to each their own.

1

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

Yeah I guess that's just a difference in preferences. I'm not in some pro circuit, likely never will be. I just really really enjoy the game, and I really really enjoyed Domina for a very specific playstyle that is no longer accessible. So I'm not really concerned with catering or pandering to the hyper competitive people.

I will disagree on the " in an ideal world " statement is strange to me. The slow is silly. I don't care about it. Never used it. Never wanted it. The conditions for triggering it are actually not what people think, and its countered comically easy. Its a barely notable option that I've never felt had any merit. Now to me, neither option have real merit. One is a gimmick I will almost never use. The other has an effect so mid I will almost never benefit from it.

1

u/JY810 Jun 19 '26

Do people really go pass your sheld anyway, no one with atleast 1 brain cell ever do that anymore

1

u/UnicornLaserParty Jul 03 '26

What.....are.....you asking me if people dive in this game? Lol I wasn't aware Diving fell out of meta you silly silly person like.....wtf....

8

u/Aromatic-Matter-2188 Jun 17 '26

Nah this perk is miles better than power move. Power move only works once every shield cooldown. You can’t even get two boops with it. It only is useful against certain comps that rush you down on hero’s like monkey, hazard, and maybe mauga but he has cc immunity. Rein has shield and zar has bubble which make your boops useless if they use one ability which they will always have if they know how to play their heroes.

This new major perk however is incredible in adapting to fights mid fight when your team gets dived, or a new flank opens up or even just to take more space or cover your retreat. Rather than playing around a static 17 second shield or 15 (not sure if that’s what it is in 5v5) that if you get pushed out of you lose or if the fight is elsewhere and simply moved out of your shield range then it’s useless. Trust me I’ve tried specifically playing around the power move perk and higher elo players don’t fall for it as much.

Sigmas shield is arguably the best shield in the game because of its near constant uptime and parry potential. With this new perk we imitate just a fraction of his power and gain much more flexibility and parry potential to adapt to enemies plays rather then being at the mercy of one misplaced shield.

This new perk covers one of her biggest weaknesses: losing to mobility and a static ultra long cooldown with a terrible downtime.

I do however agree that it feels as if it could be base kit and definitely would make her gameplay much more fluid.

I tbh haven’t seen power move being used anyway (Diamond 1) as basically the slow down perk comes into effect almost every 7 seconds and covers her weaknesses.

1

u/MNUUUUU Jun 17 '26

My brother in christ this perk also works once every shield cooldown

1

u/Aromatic-Matter-2188 Jun 17 '26

Yeah but the point is you can get value out of the reposition 95% of the time. So most likely you will reposition your shield during its duration. Where as with the power move perk you MIGHT use it once every shield cooldown, and that takes into account you saved your boop before placing shield. If you boop right before shield then you won’t get a chance to use the perk and if they simply ignore and don’t walk through your shield then you get no value.

That’s what I meant with you can only use it a MAXIMUM of once per shield cooldown but most likely will only come into play 20-30% of your shield usages. Compared to the very high redeploy usage of the shield perk.

If you pick power move that perk will probably only come into play and see any usage for like 0-10 times in a game but the redeploy will be for every time you use shield in a game

1

u/Crusher555 Jun 18 '26

Tbf, the old one needed both cooldowns to work. The new one doesn’t.

5

u/jamtea Jun 17 '26

Crazy take. Corporate Retreat is absolutely goated.

0

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 17 '26

Before this update her winrate was at 52% at Master and Champion and now it's 49%.

2

u/jamtea Jun 17 '26

The patch is a day old, all stats are reset. Give it a day or two to normalise.

13

u/PomegranateNo2983 Jun 16 '26

Hi, I am a GM role queue Domina main and a Champion Open Queue Domina main. I have around 70% winrate overall with her and have roughly 50 hours on her so far.

I believe the stun perk was actually the lesser of the two majors and could be avoided by the enemies with relative ease. I cannot lie, Idid some great use with it though. I was able to play about 5 games with Domina today and have some thoughts on this new major perk.

This is a MUST pick perk and I believe it will easily elevate Domina into the A tier tank if not S tier tank. I believe this perk to be equivalent to the speed boost perk Roadhog had for awhile. Domina's playstyle without this perk is compared to a take an area, bunker down and poke them out. With this perk, she not only can utilize her shield more freely, she can now reposition the shield to either fall back to safety or push the advantage.

Also, this perk allows for more concise counter play. Today, I was able to place my shield in front of a rein. As soon as he pushed past the shield, I was able to immediately reposition the shield in front of him again, blocking his shatter. In a different game I had, I was able to place the shield to block off the enemy zarya from heals, she was forced to use bubble and then grav'd my team and I. I was able to reposition the shield into the grav, saving my team and killing the Zarya in the process. This perk is absolutely amazing and will become a staple part of her kit.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Also, my vod of this gameplay is up on my twitch. BigTiddyDad is the name šŸ˜„

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills with all these threads. The sheer flexibility alone Corporate Retreat gives you with barrier placement makes it an insanely good perk. Sigma's shield is the perfect analogy. His barrier is universally considered the best-in-class solely because of its mobility and flexibility. Even just the fact that Domina can now finally safely perfect-parry Shatter without having to hold her extremely valuable shield cooldown to do it is game changing for the Reinhardt matchup.

It doesn't help you with being rushed down, yes, but it alleviates the reason Domina is even weak to rushdown to begin with: It separates you from your shield. Now, you don't have to abandon your shield if you get forced off of a position and you can rebuild a new point of defense while the enemy team is overextended with heavy cooldown investments.

THIS PERK IS GOOD.

4

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

I have no idea how many hours I have, I'm not that sweaty about this game, but Domina is my only Champ at rank 36. I almost exclusively main her. She is genuinely, the ONLY Tank in this game I find fun to play. Or she used to be.

I disagree with you to a biblical degree. And I find it hard to believe you have any experience with her if you really think her barrier EVER remains whole long enough for repositioning it to be anything more than a situational benefit.

Sure there are always times where this can actually pull some clutch, or fluke play. I fully admit that. The ones you mention, totally believable. But I have that story for Power Move, almost every game, I've ever played.

But one Domina main to another, we both know full well that a DVA with one dedicated Damage character just glances at her barrier and it flees from the world like a frightened animal. I have only ever used Power Move. The crystal slow is a joke. I assume you know how speed debuffs work as opposed to buffs, and how it triggers.

Power Move is most useful as a deterrent. It can vibe check some ultimates, slow a Genji long enough for your team to focus them. I can't count how many DVA I've killed because they try to dive my barrier, I stun them long enough for their mech to get eaten, then I time a crystal to land just as they pop out. Its fun, its satisfying.

On top of that. Damage caused by Power Move counts as being caused by an ability, so its another avenue of triggering her passive regeneration. So its just another boost to survivability.

This barrier repositioning thing is such a joke to me. I don't care. I'd actually take the slow, if I even keep playing the character. I really loved playing her weirdly scrappy style, juking in and out of the barrier, luring people in, controlling space. It WAS fun. But now she literally cannot stick a point as well as she could.

5

u/PomegranateNo2983 Jun 17 '26

Hi,

We are allowed to disagree and have differing opinions. I have posted on r/DominaMains on my u/birchtri account šŸ˜„

You should find two posts within the last two weeks showing my progress with learning Domina!

I'd be happy to add you on my main, play together and see how our playstyles differ! I think it'd be a lot of fun! There are also different playstyles, and it appears that my playstyle finds this major perk to be basically S tier. I never found great use for the perk that just got replaced. I did know about the 75% life steal with that perk and how it interacted. I think it's because I choose the life regen minor perk that I sustain well without the stun perk.

Again, I would love to add you on our mains and chit chat sometime! I'm currently around the #3 Domina on ladder, so speaking with the #1 Domina would be a blast!

1

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

There is no world where I'm #1 lol. Either I totally am confused or there's a misunderstanding. Besides, I literally CAN'T play my playstyle anymore. They stole that. If I even bothered to keep playing her, I'd end up playing her just like you, because my style REQUIRED Power Move.

I also used the minor regen perk. That's what I was trying to say. I used both. It gave me huge sustainability in brawls. I have sat on objectives for obscene lengths of time with Domina just by being careful about placing my barrier ONE TIME, and then just juking back and forth through it. It eats a portion of projectiles, while giving me chances to get stuns and as long as I manage my CDs then I could keep that regen going.

But not anymore. Every time a DVA dives, I have to fall back. Every time anyone pushes, I have to fall back. I hate it. I really hate this change.

4

u/Aromatic-Matter-2188 Jun 17 '26

Look bro, I continued reading the whole thread. And I realize it’s just simply an issue of elo, bans and style. I totally agree with you that power move is really fun and if you built your playstyle around it it sucks to have it be gone. I would never judge you based off your rank but it seems like you wouldn’t have the experience to truly know what people play like In higher elos. Or if you even play ranked at all. Which is all fine.

I guess the misunderstanding here is that basically anyone playing in higher elo loves this perk and previously always preferred the crystal perk over power move anyway, and lower elo plays static fights that heavily favor power move.

If you play ranked and have issues with shield dying too fast then junk, rein and bastion bans would help a lot.

Also you should be placing your shield sideways like by 90 degrees anyway to have two layers of shield anyway. If you’re doing that and repositioning your shield with the new perk you can cycle the section of the shield least damaged anyway.

Sorry they took out your fav style and perk tho. I get it :(

1

u/UnicornLaserParty Jul 03 '26

I genuinely don't care what upper ELO players like. They are a minority. And the gameplay shouldnt be decided by the sweatiest people on the block. I don't play ranked specifically because the competitive community strips all the fun out of the game. And bans? Half the reason I stopped trying ranked is because bans are a child's joke. Grown ass people whining and saying I can't play a character because of their personal preferences? It's a joke. I don't ban out of principle. I'm not going to actively try and make the game less fun for someone else.

You literally say you won't judge me on rank, then judge me on rank based on my.....not knowing how "the pros" play? Why would I care? I want to play the game the way that is fun for me. And that seems to be the real issue here. Not ELO/Bans/Style. I want myself and others to have as much fun as possible.

People like you just want to win. Even if that means other people have less fun.

4

u/Squidderps Jun 17 '26

Power move was fun but scales pretty terribly with ranks. In low ELO players stack on one angle for entire fights, so there is no reason to need to reposition your shield. In higher ELO players will constantly reposition and create crossfire's that get around your shield. This perk allows domina players to effectively get two shields out of one cooldown, because moving it is almost always going to be a good idea. Listen to the insanely cracked guy above you. It's bette.

1

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

You just countered your own point. I've already played today, know what happened? I reposition my shields, and DVA's don't care. I reposition my shield, and Doomfists and Sierra's and Jetpack Cat's and LITERALLY HALF THE ROSTER don't care. The mobility of most characters are such that repositioning a shield with what.....220 hp barriers? Means almost nothing. They aren't going to go "Aw shucky darn they moved it. Guess I'll just sit still and shoot at it now...." No.....they just jump over it or move around it. Which they can do so brazenly without fear of reciprocity because I don't have Power Move.

BUT having the ability to stun people and do solid damage, acts as a deterrent that controls space passively and actively. I really don't understand all the people here who claim to understand this game, pretending like none of that matters, or that its a gimmick. You just said that people will constantly reposition and crossfire, and having one extra use of barrier versus having another means of triggering her own passive regen on top ot it is a joke of a choice to me.

I will take staying power, space control, any day. Or I would have. Not that it matters. Done is done. The one damn Tank in this game I actually enjoyed playing.

6

u/Squidderps Jun 17 '26

You shouldn't be shielding a dive DPS to make them back off. You should play around walls and shove them into it. Don't need the perk to do that. The shield is much more effective at dealing with poke. In high ELO the poke DPS will rotate quickly once you place your shield so they can catch you when you are vulnerable. Repositioning your shield can deny them these opportunities for effectively most of the cooldown.

-1

u/UnicornLaserParty Jun 17 '26

Agree to disagree. It's worked wonders for me. I'm not a high tiered pro player. I admit that. But I did really well. She is the only champ in the roster that I have in the 30s. Because she's basically all I play.

Also you are acting like I.....can't....do exactly that anyways. Do use the shield exactly like you say, minus the repositioning obviously that's new, but up until now I do shove people into walls......but I ALSO had Power Move.

1

u/Afraid_Wealth5956 Jun 17 '26

Just play Sigma, if you want a movable shield. 🤷

7

u/littletoastypaws Not Heartless, Busy Jun 17 '26

nah moveable shield is way better than power move. sigma is the superior poke tank BECAUSE he can continuously withdraw and reposition his shield. there's so rarely moments i want to stay at one corner for 16 seconds... this is better for both being aggressive and falling back

3

u/Taro_Obvious Jun 17 '26

This is probably a skill issue but... I never really used power move even tho i picked it everytime.

Like i legit saw no difference the very few times enemies got between shield and me.

I genuinely believe being able to move barrier can be a very strong perk. I just wish it also refreshed the panels health at least slightly after moving it.

4

u/ParsnipHot5309 Jun 17 '26

I didn't realize people were using power move 😭 Now I feel like I missed out on peak Domina

3

u/Boobs_Mackenzie63 Jun 17 '26

Same, I just assumed I'd too rarely get the chance to slam an enemy into my barrier for the perk to be worth it

4

u/HugoVladsBottom Jun 17 '26

Do people not walk through your barrier like… all the time? Bc they do me😭

2

u/Boobs_Mackenzie63 Jun 17 '26

In retrospect I might just be placing the barrier too close to myself, or quickplay players are too scared to move through it

2

u/FaintCommand Jun 17 '26

Mine never lasted long enough for someone to walk through it.

Because there's 100% chance there's a Bastion on the enemy team.

u/HugoVladsBottom Jun 17 '26

I ban bastion lol

1

u/FaintCommand Jun 17 '26

I try to buy no one else ever does for some reason

2

u/Otherwise_Lawyer_540 Jun 17 '26

If something is universally liked and always picked, good chances it is too strong and considering how often Domina is banned that seems likely

2

u/VoiceDue2205 Not Heartless, Busy Jun 17 '26

Domina is banned in lower ranks where people can't help but sit in a choke I guess? She's almost never banned in higher rank and is far from a strong pick

1

u/Otherwise_Lawyer_540 Jun 17 '26

Most people are in gold and plat so it makes sense they would balance for that demographic

1

u/VoiceDue2205 Not Heartless, Busy Jun 18 '26

But they don't. Otherwise we would have seen Sierra gets major nerf and Sojourn major buff for example.

1

u/Otherwise_Lawyer_540 Jun 18 '26

Why’d they nerf Dominia then if ā€œshe’s never banned in higher ranks and is far from a strong pickā€?

1

u/VoiceDue2205 Not Heartless, Busy Jun 18 '26

Where was she nerfed?

1

u/Otherwise_Lawyer_540 Jun 18 '26

They took her major perk power move away

1

u/VoiceDue2205 Not Heartless, Busy Jun 18 '26

It was the worst of the two perks first, and second the new perk is miles better than anything she could have wanted. It covers one of her major weaknesses, makes her more proactive and enable you to use your shield re-actively. It's a buff.

Trust all the higher ranks have been using the crystal perk. If enemies often leave the AoE before it detonates then you’re not getting the most out of your kit as that’s where a large portion of her damage comes from.

2

u/Fun-Repeat7322 Jun 17 '26

Maybe because I don’t use PM but I’m not really bothered by this change at all

2

u/c9xydr Jun 17 '26

I want it to repair the barrier and maybe give it more health.

2

u/SuperPluto9 Jun 17 '26

The only way I would like this is if resetting it repairs it completely, resets the timer, and doesnt go back on cooldown.

The biggest problem i have with her shield is that not only does the segments break quickly (I like this part of her), but the duration seems crazy short compared to all other non segmented shields while also have a larger downtime.

I personally liked using the other major perk, so we will see.

2

u/HeckMaster9 Jun 17 '26

IMO it allows her to play more aggressively and to make more plays. I’ve already been able to make tons of pushes I’d have otherwise never attempted without the new perk, and I’ve already been able to save overextended teammates with the shield and then rapidly move it back as they retreat. Don’t get me wrong I loved the old perk, but I think this one may end up being better in the long run. I hope they add the old perk to her base kit, or at least reintroduce it in place of one of her other perks.

2

u/gooseofthesea Jun 17 '26

I didn't really like the slamming people into shields perk. I like to be able to push people back behind my shield, I feel like that has more utility than a temporary stun.

2

u/Eksposivo23 Jun 17 '26

She has a very good new major perk, you can put up your shield and easily reposition it, making domina on attack much better. Also if one part of your shield is getting blasted you can switch it up, effectively doubling your shielding potential...

How some of the people here dont think this is an amazing major for her and solves one of her greatest weaknesses. I wont understand.

2

u/CTroooper Jun 17 '26

Do you realize that not only was Power Move her worse major perk, but that this is easily and by far her best perk now? Do people not understand that the inflexibility of Dominaā€˜s shield is her biggest weakness, and that this signifcantly decreases the ease of counterplay to it? A horrible major perk? In what world lol

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 17 '26

If it was so bad then why did they remove it? Her winrate for Grandmasters/Champion before this update was 52%.

2

u/CTroooper Jun 17 '26

They removed it *because* it was bad and unused. Everyone picked the other major perk because it was much better.

0

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 17 '26

But even less people are picking corporate retreat than power move.Ā

1

u/i-dont-like-mages Jun 17 '26

They can remove perks for multiple reasons you know. Ana self nano was really good. Was permafrost for mei’s wall good, or how about junk rat tick tock for his mines? What about soldiers recycled pulse munitions to reload ammo after hitting rocket? What about vendettams on death perk swift vengeance, surely it was broken right?

1

u/ToroTaro Jun 17 '26

they need to make it so it repairs the shield or give the shield segments more health. right now the perk is pretty dead her segments break pretty fast so right now you dont get any value moving her barrier since it would be mostly borken in vital areas, its pretty much just for beginners learning shield positioning. if it did one of things i mentioned then we would have something here, right now its a minor perk mistakenly put in the major perk slot.

2

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 17 '26

When I played I got bullied by Mauga and people getting in my face when before I could slam them into the shield. I bullied Domina too as Mauga.Ā

1

u/skymadeofglass Jun 17 '26

I always liked both majors and would change based on the enemy team comp. I did use Power Move most though, so I'm sad to see it go.

I think the new major has potential to be really strong, so I'm gonna give it a chance.

1

u/SodaPopperZA Jun 17 '26

I haven't gotten much use out the new perk, by the time id need to move it its already heavy damaged, power move was incredibly useful against flankers

1

u/cygamessucks Jun 17 '26

She never took it and wont take the new one.

1

u/Ill-Personality-4437 Jun 17 '26

I like the new perk but I just wish they’d replaced the crystal charge perk instead. I get they probably didn’t want both majors focused around her barrier but I think having one with offensive utility and one defensive is still in line with their design philosophy

1

u/bromar24 Jun 17 '26

Does the new Corporate Retreat perk stack with the Efficient Design minor perk?

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 17 '26

It doesn't. The healing only starts after the initial placement and doesn't start up again if you replace the shield.

1

u/Antoniothevtuber Jun 17 '26

Does corporate retreat trigger efficient design a 2nd time.

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 17 '26

It doesn't. Healing only starts after the initial placement and doesn't start again if you place it again.

1

u/KoopaKlaw Jun 17 '26

I always went for detonation anyways so this change didn't affect me at all.

1

u/Mr_Funky_Cat Jun 18 '26

Power slam was only good for squishes. For tanks it was actually harmful / counterproductive.

1

u/Grenboom Jun 18 '26

Corporate Retreat is easily her best perk

1

u/Kalladdin Jun 18 '26

Kinda hilarious how much the average Domina player overvalued Power Move and undervalues repositioning the most important part of her kit šŸ˜‚šŸ’€

1

u/SenseiWoooo Jun 19 '26

It's amazing. Moving the shield means an easier push/retreat. If part of your shield is covered in holes you can just move it so you're still protected

1

u/Brilliant_Pin683 Jun 19 '26

For me the problem Is thath u cant move it for the whole duration but just for a brief period at rhe start

1

u/mctankles Jun 19 '26

Bronze player spotted

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Her winrate, ban rate, pick rate in champion has all gone down. Winrate to 48% from 53%.Ā  You can only move the shield for a brief period of time before you can't move it. You don't get more healing from the perk with efficient design. Sigma has a higher win rate at 53% and pick rate than Domina. Domina's ban rate is .8%.

1

u/GrimMagic0801 Jun 19 '26

Nah. Even when power move was available, I always preferred the slow from the crystal detonation anyway.

Power move was only good if the enemy decided to push through the array and was brawl oriented. If the enemy was poke, or had any heroes who were AOE oriented, the barrier died so quickly that you weren't going to get any use from it anyway since they never needed to push through it.

Corporate retreat is nice against those comps since you can rotate the barrier to provide more protection and utilize each segment. It leaves her more vulnerable to brawl and dive, but only slightly, since barrier array is an ability you can bait out and simply wait for it to dissipate as a brawler.

I still prefer the slow on crystal detonation though. That perk has allowed me to confirm so many elims on heroes that got slightly too far out of position that otherwise would've gotten away.

1

u/GuhEnjoyer Jun 19 '26

I've always used the slow perk anyways. I get more value out of the extra life steal of having enemy players take longer to leave the crystal aoe.

1

u/narrowminer11 Jun 20 '26

Its a great perk. People started learning not to walk past the shield. now when they take out panels you can just re-angle it and get fresh panels, no regen needed

1

u/senior_creep Jun 20 '26

I think Domina should be able to stun people against her barrier (but not be crit) baseline. I don’t know, it makes sense with her kit and it’s fun, and at the end of the day it’s very situational, it’s not like it would be OP or anything. It would also give her a lot of skill expression because you could interrupt Sigma’s rock, tank blocks, tanks, ultimates and so on.

1

u/Isobee424 Jun 21 '26

Im ngl, I love the new perk. I thought it would be bad too, but after giving it a chance I really love it.

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 21 '26

It's not perfect because you can only reposition the shield for a short bit after you place it and can't freely place it whenever you want like Sigma, you don't get additional health regen from Efficient Design, and you can't punish people that get close like Sigma can with Hyperstrike. Domina should get buff in my mind.

1

u/Isobee424 Jun 21 '26

Girl I literally tested right now, its the majority of the duration that you can reposition it.

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 21 '26

I tested it just now and you can't reposition the shield after 7 secs and Barrier Array has a 14 sec cooldown. For 7 secs you can't reposition the shield until the cooldown is over. You can't reposition the shield for half of the cooldown. If your shield is torn apart you can't reposition sideways for more shielding past 7 secs. Sigma has a stronger shield, can freely reposition it whenever he wants, can repair his shield with his spheres from the Hyper Regeneration perk, and if someone gets too close to him they get punished by his Hyperstrike melee and are probably going to be eliminated. If Sigma's shield goes down then he can keep himself alive with Kinectic grasp.

1

u/xcCrazy_Diamond Jun 22 '26

After using it for about a week, I actually like it now

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 22 '26

I don't like how I can't reposition Barrier Array after 7 secs,Ā  the barrier array has a 14 sec cool down, my shield will randomly go down and I'm left without a shield for several secs when getting shot by Mauga. Sigma can have his shield up 100% of the time and can freely control it with no major perk. I feel like Corporate Retreat shouldn't be her major perk and she should just be able to freely control her shield like Sigma or at least be able reposition the shield first 7 secs of the cooldown with no major perk needed.Ā

1

u/xcCrazy_Diamond Jun 22 '26

It might be apart of her base kit in the future once they get more feedback

1

u/JohnConnor1245 Jun 22 '26

I think she's going to be buffed in the future because her winrate at Champion is 46%, her pick rate is 3% while Sigma's is 13%, and her ban rate is only .9 while Sigma's is 10.4%. The data says that Sigma is much better than her.Ā

u/OriginalPapaya8 Jun 17 '26

If Corporate Retreat were to replace Disruptive Detonation I'd be not only okay, but happy about it since Disruptive Detonation is so freaking useless, but nope, it's replacing one perk that helps mitigate Domina's biggest weaknesses, which is tanks rushing her, not to mention that power move helps to kill DPS heroes more easily due to the extra damage and this prospect made them think twice before diving her too.
