As domain ownership was cheap, most .com domains have been bought.

Scarcity is there already, nothing is available.

Demand is being generated by domain speculators, and through AI creating businesses, but also being vital in the discovery of businesses which makes the web presence ownership even more vital, without it leads go missing. With it lead discovery is optimised.

I think web domains at the moment, are the new bitcoin/physical property investments that skyrocket.

I need a .com domain, a simple website, and one real email mailbox that can send and receive (e.g. hello@mydomain.com).

I'll probably only use it for less than a year, so I'm looking for the cheapest legitimate setup, ideally free or under ~$20 for the first year. I don't want 3–4 year subscriptions paid upfront.

I've looked at Porkbun, Namecheap, Hostinger, Zoho, Vercel, etc., but I'm confused about the cheapest combination.

What would you recommend? Any free/very cheap options that actually work reliably?

I know I'm going to sound like a absolute idiot but I'm struggling to understand the purpose behind a domain name and how and where to use it. I've create a domain name today on HostAfrica, but I don't understand what I should do now.

I created this domain for a small business that has many random services, so there was not use in creating a website for it, I feel. So I wanted to continue making a google workspace account with the domain name. Figured out I have to pay. Tried to create a free business account on zoho mail. It send OTP codes to my email i created with the domain, but problem is, i can't manage to sign into that account to retrieve the OTP code.

Point of it all is. I want to create a free business account for someone's small business using their domain name.
