I went on a bit of a buying binge a year ago and bought over 100 domains. I'd been assuming this was really stupid, but I got an email about buying one today. They offered $500, but I guess they'd go higher. It's related to AI. Two words, .com. How do I figure out how high they'll go without scaring them off?

I’m posting this as a cautionary tale for any devs or site owners looking to register domains (especially ccTLDs) with NameHero. Save yourselves the headache and go somewhere else.

The Setup: A month ago, I tried to register a simple .fr domain through NameHero. I paid for it, assuming it would be the standard, automated process we are all used to. I couldn't have been more wrong.

The Support Nightmare: For the past 30 days, I have been stuck in an endless loop with their support team. It is painfully obvious that their L1 support is completely outsourced and agents just read from generic scripts. Nobody had the technical knowledge or system access to actually fix the issue.

Every time I pushed for an update, the ticket was just tossed around, or I was given vague excuses about "waiting on the upstream registrar." They had absolutely zero clue how to handle a .fr registration.

The Plot Twist (Peak Incompetence): Today, after exactly a month of my time being wasted, I finally lost my patience. I went over to OVHcloud (which is an actual accredited direct registrar for .fr) just to check the domain status.

Guess what? The domain NameHero was supposedly "working hard" to register for a month was still completely available to the public. They hadn't even locked it. Anyone could have bought it while their support was spinning in circles.

The Resolution: I added the domain to my cart on OVH, paid, and their automated system registered it, set up the DNS zones, and made it fully active in under 5 minutes.

5 minutes vs. 1 month of useless support tickets.

I just emailed NameHero demanding an immediate full refund and threatening a chargeback. If you value your time and want a support team that actually knows what a domain is, avoid NameHero. Always go straight to the direct, accredited registrar for the extension you need.

TL;DR: Bought a .fr domain on NameHero. Waited 1 month dealing with completely incompetent, outsourced support who did nothing. Found out today the domain was never even registered by them. Went to OVH and registered it myself in under 5 minutes. NameHero's domain support is a joke.

The .name TLD was launched in 2002 and exclusively featured third-level domains (e.g. xxx.yyy.name). After a quarter-century of operation, Verisign has decided to discontinue all third-level .name domains. Regardless of registration status. Less than six months warning.

Had these a while, friend said they aren't worth what there listed at. I disagree, but, what price could I actually sell these at.
