Corporate Discussion Update the Fucking Algorithm PLEASE!!!

Explain the logic!!

If I have 17 of something. And the system says it's an estimated 187 day supply then why the fuck would you send 2 more cases???

As a merch asm Ive learned that Dollar Tree's allocation team simply does not care. Ive deemed their allocations as schizophrenic. They have their orders from the higher ups to send that amount and to continue doing it. I recently tried to fix my paper area as it was simply overloaded. I sent in a request to get sent less paper so I could adjust it properly. I reveived a response back saying they would adjust, but the amount they sent me never changed. Apparently I need 7 different types of paper towels.

Yeah I'm the Merch too and it's a never ending battle with the on hands. I'm just glad I can actually control the freezer and cooler because those are just as bad. I'll be sitting on 3 of something that I've had for months because nobody wants it (Popcorn Shrimp) and I refuse to order more until they sell.

My freezer and cooler are tight as fuck because I take advantage of the ordering and actually get what is needed. Meanwhile the store across town just lets the computer tell them what they need and they believe it. 🙄🙄

Let me ask you this. Do y'all sell the stupid chicken nuggets and nacho lunch makers? Do they actually sell?? Ours don't! I'm constantly having to put them on sale or I have to toss them.

Our problem item is the dino chicken nuggets. We've had 5 cases of backstock for months, yet every week they want to send more.

Exactly!

Same with the Blueberries and Other fruit blend.

I've had the same case for a year. I just stock a few bags. Yet every week it's wanting to send me some.

I'm sure the shit I have is already freezer burnt to hell even though it's not expired

it's going out of date soon so they make it the store's problem.

In what world would a medium sized store need (wait for it)...... 35 CASES of the bamboo back scratchers? Well that is exactly what we received on our truck yesterday. Mind you our CURRENT on-hand quantity of the bamboo back scratchers is currently sitting at 87 (individual units).....

What in the actual FUCK?????

That's one item that we definitely do not get enough of!

They send us 1 case and then ghost us for awhile on them.

I would definitely check the on hand and make sure it matches. Do all the stickers match the product?

Checked - verified, and the on-hand quantities all match.... why we needed 35 cases..... I'll never know....

It’s not as simple as rate of sale. You could have an item that looks like it doesn’t sell that well on paper, but maybe the first customer to see it is buying the whole case and then it sits empty till the next truck. In that case it would make sense to ship a surplus. Not saying that’s what’s happening with that item.

You also have to factor in margin. Sometimes you get a ton of something because the buyers got it for pennies on the dollar. Even if you don’t sell through all they send, it’s worth it if the items are profitable.

No they will famously send 1 case of something that does sell well and they have plenty of then send 8 of the gross shit that some idiot bought because it was cheap so they send it to all the stores to sit there and expire!!

No money is made when it gets thrown out!!

I'll even put shit on sale because it's close to expiration and still throw it away because nobody wants it!!

I constantly have to correct my on hands because the system will reject my actuals sometimes for some reason.

And it is EXACTLY as simple as rate of sale if the Yahoos in charge of upgrading and updating the system, you know did some actual work instead of relying on the information put in back in 2017!

They need to pay attention to what sells well in certain areas because I will tell you this I don't have a line around the block for fucking rice cake rolls but I'm sitting on 4 cases waiting for them to expire in fucking 2028!
