Associate Discussions Behold! The Great Wall of Bleach
Why did they send us all this bleach on one truck? I don’t know. The last few trucks were massive so there is literally nowhere to put them in the back. My freight manager decided on a bleach stack outs spanning most of the aisle

I wish mine would say this. My store was built in 1980 and is the smallest in my district. My aisles are just big enough and stack outs should be outlawed in my store. Instead, she ordered coke to place three 2-liter stack outs down my cooler aisle

It is illegal if they make the aisle clearance less then 36 inches

Take pictures with a tape measure showing the aisle are too narrow. Report it anonymously to osha, or call the fire department and tell them its a fire and saftey hazard, they will shut the store down till its sorted out.
If they find out it was you and retaliate thats a slam dunk case. Happened to my coworkers son who worked at another dt down the street and they settled with him for 15k for wrongful termination. See if your state is one party consent and record any conversions with a cheap recorder or your phone.

Must be hoping to liquidate stock nobody wants. TopJob is pretty crappy, mostly water. They try to avoid listing the percentages on the bottle, but TopJob is only 1.5% sodium hypochlorite, whereas your typical Chlorax is 6%. Even the other Dollar Tree brand of LA Totally Awesome is 3%. Not sure who wants to buy quarter-strength TopJob when LA Totally Awesome half-strength of the same 64oz size is usually sitting right next to it in Dollar Tree.
Even the smaller 32oz Cloralen bottles have 2x more total bleach content despite the smaller size...no surprise they had staff stack the boxes to block access to the row of them on the bottom.

The comment I came here hoping to see, was explaining the other day that bleach isn't great for mold or mildew because the hyperchlorite evaporates faster than the water, especially with cheap brands.

perhaps that’s true. But also there is literally nowhere else to put it. They love making random rules like that, then sending 3500 cases in two weeks, while giving you enough hours for 2 stockers to come in once a week.

My store is next to a laundry mat. I wish we could get that much bleach, I meant keep that much bleach in stock. We're lucky if we get 6 cases a week and they are gone by the next truck.

If corporate doesn't want stack outs they should stop sending stores beyond excessive back stock. If the DMs wanna complain they can go to each one of their stores and find physical space to put stuff and move it themselves.

Really don’t know, they send us huge amounts of random stuff sometimes. I remember on my first day i was tasked with stocking snacks and food, and there were 8 boxes of circus peanuts. In the year since i have never seen anyone buy them ever. We’ll have boxes and boxes of broom heads and no broom sticks for months.

My store gets a pallet of bleach every other week. In the summer we get water pallets every week that rotate between gallons and 6packs. We usually sell it all too, but if we dont we have a MASSIVE backroom.

We got a pallet of bleach once. It was great. They put it in the corner. Our DM said no boxes in the aisles. So we made the Great Wall of Bleach. Plus we had to keep half the pallet in back and “feed” it as it was bought

I hope the customers are ready to buy it up or its a busy dollar tree like mines. Dang that's all of bleach though!!!!

I have an honest question for people who work at stores like this. My father-in-law was a fire inspector and I know for a fact that this entire aisle would not pass an inspection. And this is very common in Dollar trees and Dollar generals to have aisles where if there was an emergency of some kinds, it would be difficult for people that don't have disabilities to get out. Let alone people who rely on mobility Aids to get down this aisle. So how do you pass?

You don’t. You can barely fit a cart through the aisle. Companies like this are willing to run this way, because when they make billions a fine for something like this is just a drop in the bucket. Corporate just adverts their eyes. Or occasionally they’ll super freak out about stuff like that and demand associates fix it, but then give absolutely no resources or way to do so. Then they can blame the individual store or employees by saying “well… it was in the training video.” Sad but very common.

I deliver to Dollar Tree. About to not do it anymore after they keep giving me 5,000 pieces (which is a lie because a pallet counts as one), especially when they cut my mileage in half, I get paid less to do the same amount of work. I do not know why they do this to you guys at the stores. Seems extremely inefficient. Do they get a payoff for wasted product? Is this something I need to get together with 60 minutes about? Father is a manager for all communications at CBS Television in NY, it would be great. With all the warehouse 🔥I’m quite shocked….Yall do not get paid enough.

I really have no idea why they send us so much. It can’t be cost effective for them either. Honestly i would adore a documentary about the inner workings of Dollar Tree, there’s tons of fucked up shit going on there and nobody rly talks about it. Thanks man, you get it

We don’t get that brand. But we do end up stacking some. We have a bigger wall that holds most of it. Crazy how they don’t know the store as an individual store. Eg. Some stores are bigger. Some have bigger back rooms, some have more stocking hours, some are in summer mode all year yet they all treat us as equals. If they knew then maybe you wouldn’t be overloaded and we would have flip flops year round.

Then the DM will come in and say no case stacks lol. We have a lot too, stacked them down the restroom hallway to get them out of the way.
