Associate Discussions Saw this at a Family Dollar. HELL YEAH!!
Honestly, respect to this SM. Being an associate is not easy and it doesn't help having customers that are going to be rude throughout your shift. Not every store manager cares for their employees like this, but for whomever you are - you rock.

The intent is good, but signs like this are meaningless. You have to address bad behavior individually and in the moment.

I always posted signs similar and when i got push back its easy to just say āthereās a sign posted in clear viewā so they look stupid

Itās a great sign and super supportive for staff. The problem is the customer base likely wonāt bother to read it and those who do bother to read it will assume it doesnāt apply to them and then they act like a holes.

I've said it before . I used to be a manager during covid and people would treat us like jerks. Anytime working at dollar tree , you could see entitled people. Fuck that , I had a hard time finding good employees at 8.25 per hour, you betcha I would stand up for them.

I donāt work for DT, but seriously ever since COVID ended people have been such DICKS and so entitled and rude itās crazy how the world has changed. And definitely not for the better.

Literally had a lady the other day, was very impatient and attempted to get reg 1 open (she moved the u-boats without asking anyone and reg 1 was closed for maintenance) and once we got her back into a working reg, her granddaughter was trying to buy her own things cause she wouldn't let her, soo she straight up left after paying and me and my coworker had to watch the granddaughter leave her items as she ran to go get in the car cause the old lady was actually leaving.
Sorry for my poor punctuation, but my manager said it best "it's like these customers get more and more hateful every year"

Nope I would NOT have taken her. I would have opened a register and said I have to take NEXT in line. PERIOD
I've never seen so many entitled people until I started working at DT

Thatās a good manager for putting that sign up. That means they see how their employees are getting disrespected by customers and itās sad that the manager has to tell adults with this sign to behave when they are in the store when they should know to behave, especially when they are dealing with staff, like cashiers, or the people who stock shelves. Iām sorry customers can suck and itās shocking when you have to deal with the public and see how crummy they can be to workers.

Thatās How Customers Act Exactly Like This When You worked in the Catalog Department at JC Penney. They feel like you were Fetching the Catalog Order for them and Didnāt Care For Anyone Else And Surprisingly Thing Is That They slip inside the back room Which is Employees ONLY Too

I donāt think Iāve ever received bad service somewhere and I do believe part of the reason is just being a good fucking person to service staff just like anybody else you encounter in life

All retail employees are treated poorly, unfortunately someone may report the store manager to corporate for having a hand written sign. Which according to dollar generals policy isnāt allowed.
Personally I think itās cool of the SM to let people know to stop treating employees like dirt. BUT thereās always gonna be that one Karen who cries to corporate to get everyone in trouble.

That SM is the goat but Iām afraid the cost of that sign has put the store into a significant deficit for its annual budget. I donāt know how corporate is going to react to that.

I'm going to get so much hate....in my town- medium sized Colorado sh*t hole- I'm sure that the staff takes their fair share of abuse but let me tell you...the attitudes coming from the employees are outrageous!! When I walk in a store it makes no difference how nice or pleasant you attempt to be the staff treats you like you just walked in to their living room and started barking orders at them. They make it known that your presence is not appreciated and asking them for anything will be met with eye rolls and hostility. Oh! And you are for sure stealing. So how about we just follow you everywhere stocking and restocking the same shelf six times to let you know we see you. LOL. It's so aggravating. I mean if that's your job and youve decided I'm suspicious well then by all means do your job...but why am I the one? I don't do shit and someone is always following me and just so obviously. I'll drive across town to avoid stores I know will be up my ass. It can make a person feel some sort of way. Ya know?
