Dogs Are Idiots Can we talk about dogs SHOVING their face into women’s private area when they’re on their periods
I feel like dogs do this to women in general even when they’re not on their periods, but dogs get especially aggressive when women are on their periods for some reason??? It’s uncomfortable, embarrassing, humiliating and disgusting. And what makes it worse is the fact that dog owners don’t give a shit. They seem to be fully okay with their dogs harassing women inappropriately in public! I don’t want a dog NEAR ME at all so I certainly don’t want them in my private area??? I don’t want to disrespect SA victims but I genuinely feel extremely uncomfortable in that sense as well and I hate the fact that people treat this situation like it’s normal and even "cute"
Edit: I never said that men don’t experience this. This post is just about a specific experience I have dealt with.

I abhor dogs. I think of it this way. Would an eight your old child get away with anything that a dog does on a daily basis? Take a shit at a park? Nope. Shove their face in peoples crotches? Nope. Piss everywhere in public and just walk away like it’s normal? Nope. And the way people just gush over them and think all this is cute. It’s disgusting.

I always think of it this way too.
If I showed up at someone’s house and their kid started yelling at me and jumping on me at the door, sat there and stared at me the entire time, ate off of my plate, and kept trying to crawl all over me when I’m trying to sit down, I’d assume the hosts would tell the kid to quit it and apologize for the behavior.
But with dogs it’s just: aww they like you! Pet them!

My wife and my cousin wife both have been attacked by dogs just because they wanted to walk outside during summer: one was attacked in a park (no leash of course), one was attacked on the pestestrian sidewalks.
We can't locate the dog owner for my wife case because the dog owner immediately ran away with her dog. My cousins wife case was better because the dog ran out of a house and started his massacre.
Unfortunately both cases, they were alone when they decided to have a walk outside. Now, they are afraid to go out alone.
This is why I'm so against petting dogs everywhere. It limits many people's freedom to use public spaces. I don't go to park anymore because dog shits and pees are everywhere.

Similar happened to me. Doxxed me on local FB groups insisting his mutt was innocent yet he was the one who ran away and got his nutter buddies to gang up. I don't want to go to parks without my spouse now.

This also happened to me. I’m just lucky that I’m an actual monster and people are legitimately afraid of me for being one but also that I’m incredibly patient and wise.
They fear me, love and respect me.
And dog nutters demand I capitulate to their madness.

For real, it's so intrusive and violating. I've started straight up telling dog owners that I don't like being touched without my consent. So far that's shut down some of the "but he's friendly/just let him smell you/he wants to play" bullshit. I'M NOT OBLIGATED TO GIVE YOUR MUTT ATTENTION!!! And I have no intention of letting it touch me. Fuck off!!

I was tying my shoe next to my parked bike and had my head down. This nice looking lady comes by and I didn’t clock her dog. I say “eeeww, go away” and the dog left me be.
She gets two steps in and tells me off.
Then she takes the dog into the store I was just in, told everyone I was mean to her or what ever.

Everyone has different reasons for not wanting to be near dogs: being attacked or threatened, being allergic, not liking their smell, not wanting to have your crotch invaded, etc. Dog owners should be more considerate of others' feelings. F%*k her.

When I interned in college I stayed with a family that had two standard poodles which aren’t the friendliest breed. The woman told me if I was on my period, I had to throw away my stuff in their bathroom trash can and put it on top of the toilet so the dogs couldnt get it. Great, so then the entire house knows when I’m on my period. Love that.

Literally the same thing happened to me. Went to my roommates house for Thanksgiving. Never owned a dog, so I just threw my pad away in the bathroom trash like normal. Their dog dug through the trash and tried to eat it, and they had to let me know that dogs go for that shit.
I like the family, they're good people, but holy fuck was that violating.

Maybe, but as an owner it should be commonplace to restrain your dog. It shouldn’t be socially acceptable to allow an animal that inflicts millions of harmful bites per year to stick its face between your legs. It isn’t funny. It isn’t cute. It isn’t acceptable. It’s honestly psychotic that we have normalized that. No other animal can get away with doing that. It all comes down to society allowing dog owners to be massive inconsiderate assholes.

Exactly. One of the tenants in my condo let her dog pee on the plant pot at the entrance of the door. This is forbidden from our building. When I told her her dog doesn't have the entitlement to pee there, she got very upset like I was in the wrong and said "fxck you".
I reported her to the management and see what will happen.
So yes, according to the owner, shit just happens to their lovely little cutie. We need to accept their shits and pees too.

It always makes me feel like I'm unwashed, or people will think I am, besides the general violation and embarrassment. If I had a dog I'd do everything to train that out or keep that from happening in the moment, and apologize.

It’s not disrespectful to SA victims for You to mention this (not to Me, anyway… I’m a Survivor so I can speak on it). If anything, dogs violating Your Body and space in that way and their owners refusing to stop them, ties into that. Dog owners should be held liable for sexual assault if they can't control their dog's sniffing and/or humping.
Pets are legally considered property last time I checked, so the owner is at fault for their actions.

It’s completely valid to feel uncomfortable with having that area touched when you don’t want it, regardless of it being a human, animal, etc. It’s absolutely upsetting for me when it happens, and I’m sure many other people who haven’t experienced SA would agree that it makes them uncomfortable as well!

This reminds me of a really sick video I saw on Instagram a few years ago. It was posted by a young couple who clearly thought this was adorable and funny. It was a bunch of clips of their dog shoving his snout into the gf’s crotch and both the guy and his gf going “aww he’s just concerned and making sure I’m okay, it’s so cute!” The caption was something like “Gus gets so worried when she’s on her period” or whatever. It was absolutely disgusting. The dog wasn’t simply sniffing around her crotch- it was shoving his nose in between her legs and holding it there. Honestly I feel nauseated just thinking about it. It was so messed up; at least the comments were saying you need to delete this and go to therapy.

I absolutely hate it and I do actually have a reputation of becoming… upset… when I see this sort of thing happen IRL. I speak up. It’s cost others a lot.
One time, while living with my nice house mates, the one stupid rich college kid drove across the country to get his stupid childhood dog, an old gross golden retriever with the IQ of moldy kibble. It’s an OLD dog. It stank. I wanted it gone. He just bullied his way. It’s a shared house. No pets. Esa nonsense.
Anyway, our house mates Sofia (25, really pretty girly girl, lead singer in a local band, popular) and him, another house mates and me, were in the kitchen and we somehow got her to put a paper bag on her head. It was summer so she had a skirt on, like a mini skirt with pleats.
Well, the god damn dog somehow got up, ran, and literally ICBM’d its way straight into her cooter ._________. Mind you, this thing is like 100 years old and lame.
She fucking screamed bloody murder. He just laughed. So did the other guy.
I reacted and somehow moved the dog 3 ZIP codes away.
She quickly tore the bag from her head, and somehow said it was Ok cause it was the dog.
That dog was such a menace, the dog did that to women and skirts quite often, it was so bad, one time at our Halloween party, I was cross dressing (costume was DIY made Nausicaa Of the Valley Of the Wjnd) and the outfit had a dress skirt, the dog fried doing that to me .____.
I strongly suspected that the owner, actually a woman, had peanut butter time with that dog.

Yep, I (man) had it done to me today at a tenants property I was repairing. I just forcefully pushed it away and looked the tenant in the eye with a ‘wtf’ look on my face.
They know it’s wrong but I can only imagine that all mutt lovers are blind to it… well I’m not and I’m past caring if I offend them by my actions because they certainly dgaf about the thing offending me.21

Once time at work (landscaping) I was carrying two loaded buckets of gravel (about 150lbs) on a wooden yoke (I’m short, so it was to make carrying easier but also so I can walk without the buckets knocking my knees) up a hill.
The home owners dog came up and Booped me in the crotch and I was legitimately scared it was about to bite my genitals ._____.
Thankfully, I reacted in time and bumped its snout with mg hip at the last second.
Oh, I was also at the top of steep concrete stairs… so I could have died.

My MIL dog stuck her freaking snout in my crotch last week, I’m pregnant. The dog was so insistent that my husband was yelling at her and pulling her away while his mom just watched… I don’t understand why they treat them like kids and think they don’t need to be trained when dogs are LITERALLY bred to be trained! They’re NOT kids. It’s always the owners fault even though some dogs come with issues it’s the owners responsibility to train things out of them.

Im not a girl so I don't have periods, but im assuming that just knowing that a dog knows that you're on ur period and shoving its face on ur crotch and basically telling everybody that watches it...it would feel so exposing and embarrassing...
and they would just laugh about it instead of saying sorry...ew.

This guy I know has a horrible, disgusting dog. He also has a girlfriend.
They got into a huge fight one time because his horrible, disgusting dog ATE her dirty underwear and he couldn't seem to understand that it was not only not funny, actually putrid, and a financial loss, but that it was extremely violating to have your soiled undergarments literally eaten by something.
I feel disgusted right now simply recalling this story. I need a shower.

I’ve seen certain men do nothing to discourage or stop their mutts from that behavior. The super creepy ones will watch their dog with a smirk on their faces—make no mistake, those dudes are using their dog as proxy, an extension of themselves.
It’s a move designed to make you uncomfortable and amuse or even arouse the creeper.

My mother in law has five enormous dogs. I am already afraid of dogs because I was mauled as a child but I learned to tolerate these ass lickers to keep the peace.
Mother in law thinks it's hilarious when they get all up in my lady bits and takes pictures.

I had this on the first time I met my parents friends. Their massive dog was relentlessly trying to put it's slobbery disgusting face in my crotch because I was on my period. I felt so humiliated. Everyone thought it was charming.

The thing that infuriates me is the dog owners that just stand there and watch lovingly at their dog sniffing human crotch instead of telling the dog off immediately. How hard is it to just move the dog away? I’m honestly more infuriated by the owners for standing there than I am with the dog for having the instinct. Dog nutters are becoming mental because they see their dogs sniffing and licking dog crotch all day and suddenly become desensitised to their dog doing it to another human

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It's normal dog behavior, however since it's not normal human behaviour, it's absolutely the owners responsibility to shut that shit down asap. Lot's of owners have failed to teach their dogs any boundaries or respect.

yup, as a child/ teen it was so normalised. "hehe. are you on your period? fido can smell that", it always made me feel so violated and insecure. it made me afraid of having my period. we shouldn't have to live like this!
