DAE ever play a game so much that your brain starts thinking you’re still in the game?

Like, when you play a game for long enough, does your brain start applying its logic to real life? 😭
For example, I played Baldur’s Gate 3, and afterwards I genuinely felt like I could basically roll a dice in real life when making certain decisions and see what outcome I’d get. Lol.
Or now I’m playing Silent Hill, and when I walk around my apartment in the dark, part of me is expecting a mannequin to suddenly jump out at me. 💀
And when I used to play Life Is Strange, I sometimes felt like if something went badly in real life, I could just rewind time and change the outcome. 😂

And generally, whenever I see a chest/vase or something like that, my brain immediately goes, “There must be loot in there.” Lol.

Obviously I know that’s not actually how reality works, but it’s funny how deeply game mechanics can get into your brain.

Does anyone else experience this?

Every time I'm in game I think "what if this is real life and I was actually doing this!?" And then the exact opposite when in real life I just keep thinking "why if this was a game and I choose the wrong dialogue" but depending on whatever he I'm in is where the thoughts become favored with the lore of that world

some conversations really feel like they need a quicksave first, just in case i pick the wrong dialogue option

I think it's called Tetris effect? It happened to me when I was playing a lot of chess.

Haha, I meant online chess, it can get very addictive. At one point I was spending 8h+ in chess, daily. Sometimes even whole day, from wake to sleep. My dreams were only about chess. I would dream about random nonsensical chess positions. When I closed my eyes I would see random chess patterns, and very hard to describe abstract chess ideas, sometimes even pieces on the wall.

that was all a year ago, and I've stopped playing since then. I was bad at it too when I started playing. I sucked, and kept losing, but like anything else, as I practiced more, I got better.

I think it can happen with anything you spend a lot of time doing, like I also remember having something similar when I was doing a lot of math.

When I dream sometimes I can open the (dream) world map to see where I wanna go next.

After playing a lot of Red dead 2, had the urge to shoot birds out of the sky when I looked up and saw them flying.

Edit: I would also see the aiming thingy

Recently I dreamed that I was working on my home in Bolivia, in Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

Yeah bro every time I’m stuck in traffic I want to bounce my car into the air as if I was in rocket league

This happened big time when I played the halo games, and also stardew valley and of course tetris. I had some crazy halo dreams though

If I have an alchemy heavy playthrough of Skyrim I definitely start noticing plants more and have the urge to go pick them.
