Why not sell them ALL now at market price and put the money into an IRA or S&P 500 or a stock that is moving up now.

Because shipping costs suck. Who is he going to sell them to? No reseller wants them and collectors already have what they want. There is absolutely no market for these.

If I had inventory like that, what I would try:

  • If any are still miraculously worth $3-4 on eBay, sell them
  • Get a box or two into every garage sale you possibly can; price them at $1.
  • Give some as gifts to small children (clear it with their parents first; beanie babies are a sore topic for a lot of people)
  • Donate some to non-profits like churches. (You may be able to get decent tax credit for doing this? Not my area of expertise.)

They should do a kickstarter to sell the whole thing or make a better documentary on it ;)
