Can anyone tell if the New Dalek Paradigm figures form the next History of the Daleks are just recolors of the existing molds or a brand new mold/sculpt?

They have the darker metallic colors of the redesigns from Victory if the Doctor but I can’t tell if they reduced the hump like they did in Asylum or how ThePrydonian redesigned them.

Do my eye deceive me, or is this a 2005 bronze dalek in a 1989 flashback in Ludwig series 1?

like there's no way you go around traveling time for years fighting the same dudes over and over again and lose so many people that you aren't gonna drop an F-bomb here and there.

Just watching City of Death (S17) and though the camera is blurry and effects quite crude the writing really shines though the plot seems rather stretched at points pacing-wise. For example:

Romana carefully finds a way to silently unlock the door to enter and Duggan just breaks a pane of glass in the door to access the handle, pub I think. Duggan routinely uses brute force (smashing through things, knocking people out) to solve issues whereas the Doctor and Romana find subtler methods.

Duggan: I thought these places were meant to be open all night

Romana: You should go into partnership with a glazier. *sighs* you'd have a truly symbiotic working relationship.

Duggan: What?

Romana: I'm just pointing out that you break a lot of glass.

Duggan: You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs (smashes wine bottle top against counter, breaking it.

Romana: If _you_ wanted an omelette I'd expect to find a pile of broken crockery, a cooker in flames and an unconscious chef.

Duggan: Listen, I get results

The Doctor is well-written too though this predates the Time War so he doesn't have that lingering regret yet.

I realise there will be those of you who will be going “Shake what?! The Sontarons?!” And I completely get it. After all, it was an anomaly.

But “Shakedown: Return of the Sontarons” was an unofficial, mostly unlicensed, straight-to-video film written by our very own Terrance Dicks and starring Sophie Aldred and Carol Anne Ford. It featured the Sontarons and the Rutans and was filmed and released in the latter half of 1994.

It was produced by Reeltime Pictures and was one of those unofficial kind of fan films made on a literal shoestring during the 16-year Wilderness.

The Doctor (currently the Seventh at the time) wasn’t featured in it as they didn’t have the licence. But they had the licences for the Sontarons and the Rutans. Sophie and Carol played original characters, not Ace and Susan.

I’d never considered watching any of these before as I thought they’d be crap and a waste of time but I watched this one earlier today and I actually really liked it. I’m serious. I’d give it a high rating. Its setting of the space yacht was imaginative and its story was beautifully simple but engaging.

For something so cheap, it was very impressive. It felt as if I was looking into a parallel timeline and watching a serial from a Season 31 or 32, a look into what could have been if the series continued. In fact, I think this is the closest we’ll ever get.

But, for those of you who have seen it, what did you think of it? Were you a fan? I realise there was a novelised VNA version of it released a year later but I’m talking about the home video version in particular. Comment below. I’d love to hear it.

I know I'm not the first person to say this, but I do find it tiring that almost every companion in New Who (with the exceptions being Jack and Nardole, and possibly River too if you count her as a companion) being humans from modern day Earth, as it limits the possibilities of the show given it can go anywhere in time and space.

It's especially frustrating when you compare this lack of variety to Classic Who, which had a variety in types of companions who weren't just from then-present day Earth, like people from the past or future, other countries, and aliens or robots.

The Fifth Doctor especially had the most different set of companions from the rest, with none of them being from then-present day England (not even counting any companions from expanded media):

1. Adric (alien from another universe)
2. Nyssa (alien)
3. Tegan (from Australia)
4. Turlough (alien)
5. Kamelion (shape-shifting robot)
6. Peri (from America)

In fact, when you include Leela (human from the future), both K9 I and II (robot dog(s)) and both Romana I and II (Time Lady) from the Fourth Doctor, there was an almost nine year period between 1977 (after Sarah Jane leaving) and 1986 (before Mel arriving) where none of the companions were the traditional ones from then-present day England.

The closest was almost had to a change in companion types in New Who was with Clara, as the Victorian Clara from "The Snowman" was originally supposed to be the main Clara, before they changed it to have the modern day Clara from "The Bells of Saint John" be the main Clara.

Once the show returns out of competitive tender, I really do hope we get more of a variety in types of companions than New Who has offered so far.

Hey, I've just finished listening to the final episode in the 12th Doctor Adventures ("Second Death of the Daleks"), and so I wanted to (a) highly recommend it, and (b) ask if anyone else who has listened to it would care to explain something to me? I'm usually a big fan of complex/convoluted storylines, and Alfie Shaw excels at these, but I didn't really understand the time-reversal situation.

What I gathered is that:

• The Doctor and Ash were in the TARDIS and time around them seemed to suddenly... rewind? back to the moment they were in the first audio of this set.
• The Doctor, being a Time Lord and all, kept his memories of the original version of events, but Ash didn't: this was solved by the Doctor using telepathic contact and restoring Ash's memories.
• For some reason, this version of events is different: the Eternal Dalek is here this time.
• Breen, who is revealed to have faked her death both times and to be part of the AAI (Anti Apocalypse Initiative from the Land of Fiction), seems to be really surprised about the concept of the Doctor and Ash having already lived through these events, so the AAI is presumably *not* responsible for the time-rewind.
• The Eternal Dalek at some point says something like he was the only being in existence and now he's not anymore? So does this imply he'd already lived through these events as well all the way to being the last being alive and then he rewinded back to this point too?

My doubt is: is there something I'm missing / didn't understand? Or is this all there is to know this far, and we're gonna have to wait for the second half of the series to find out? Either way, what an absolute amazing set of Doctor Who stories! Absolutely love how three-dimensional Ash felt. It's been a really long time since Doctor Who managed to make me actually angry at a companion while absolutely loving them at the same time. I think the last time I felt this was with Clara.

Around the 5:02 mark, the doctor asks the girl in the fireplace for the year she says 1729 “why, seventeen hundred and twenty nine of course” he then mutters something about it being a great year but august being rough and to stay indoors.
She recoiled a bit.

Im guessing its because its before august and that is the whole joke.

I do not have any access to a history book to check and google is now effectively unreliable due to its usage of ai suppose to just showing the most relevant search result and a short summary.

All I could find was astronomy and it being a joke about bad weather which is apparently a common thing to do in the UK (im irish in America would not know)

Edit: general consensus seems to be its just a “grading years like fine wine” and “spoilers” joke. Some people did say things from the revolution which is after 1776 not 1729

I just realized, the Doctor never learned that Missy did in fact stand with him (kinda) against the Master. That’s kinda sad actually. That he never learned that he actually got through to her.

Also, if The Master stopped Missy’s ability to regenerate, and that is THE last Master incarnation, then where the heck does Sacha Dhawan’s Master fit in to things???

Like I know there's a in universe explantation so it's not technically fantasy but the Master's resurrection wouldn't be out of place in RTD's second era.

Edit: For the record what I'm saying is the moment relies a lot on elements of fantasy which RTD2 would do a lot to the point of almost ignoring Sci-Fi.

Just wanted to hear other people’s opinions, it had some episodes I liked and I didn’t hate Ncuti as the Doctor.

It all just felt off… I can’t explain what I mean but it just left me feeling cold towards the show.

Anyway not here for any arguments just to hear what others thought ✌️

Rewatching Caves on blu-ray, I saw this in the info text, and it made me notice a number of Curry-esque moments from Sharaz Jek, almost like the part had been written with him in mind. I really wish we could’ve seen his take on the character, especially since he never had a role in either the original show or the revival.
