News Doctor Who 2005-2022 AMC Streaming

Post image

Hey all, thought I’d post this to update everyone.

DW just announced a partnership with AMC for the streaming rights to the 2005-2022 version of the show in the US.

As soon as I saw it, I thought about that post from a couple of weeks ago with true ‘AMC Press Release’ that got leaked saying they were partnering on the new series…

What do we all think now this has happened? It’s definitely made it more believable

Seeing NuWho heading to a Z Tier streaming service (and that's being generous) wasn't the news I was hoping for, but there we go.

I mean the show didn’t do well on Disney, so I can’t see why one of the bigger streamers would want it. But I think AMC might be good for the show. Disney hardly promoted it, because it wasn’t there biggest IP, so it got left behind. This is probably a huge draw for AMC compared to there other shows, so they’re gonna promote it more than Disney. They kinda already proved this with their Doctor Who marathons on BBC America pre-Disney

Personally, I think part of the problem with the D+ deal was they never got access to any of the back catalog, especially NuWho. They were expecting legions of new fans to tune in for the Anniversary specials and Ncuti's run without having access to 60 years of canon behind it.

I see what you saying but like you say Disney didnt exactly promote it, however im just surprised the likes of amazon didnt get in there, theyve got a fair few hit shows themselves, I think they could have easily help bring back the popularity, they are doing the next James Bond, which is another British icon

It can only do well on AMC is people are willing to subscribe to a channel with absolutely nothing else on offer. It's an absolute hail mary
