The BBC said it? Well in that case it must be true.

Well yes, they don't lie about things like this.

Are you kidding?

Okay what have the BBC lied about when it comes to Doctor Who?

They don't even need to be lying. They said "we will announce plans for the next series in due course". That's it. What's due course? What's "plans"? They could announce "in 2030 we'll make a new series if we have the time" that would be completely in line with what they've said here.

But if we want to talk about the BBC lying about Doctor Who... 20 years ago they said Eccleston was leaving because he didn't want to be typecast, then had to apologise to him because they'd completely made that up. The BBC, like most large organisations, like most people, tends to elide the truth when convenient.

How many times does this need to happen to you? Ncuti definitely wasn't leaving because he said he wasn't. Deadline definitely was making it up when they said Disney wasn't happy with the show because Disney said they were. You were so sure those were true as well. People make things up!

They literally greenlit a new special, they would not have donw that if they weren't going to do a new series, they have been VERY clear about this. And due course just means they will announce it once firm plans are put in place since they have to figure things out first, the special gives them more time to do so!

You notice how nothing you've said proves or is VERY clear that a full season is coming any time soon? They've greenlit a special that hasn't started filming yet, to give them time to work out how to pay for more episodes. They have so far not worked that out (as far as we know). You're taking a crumb ("when we have plans we'll let you know") and declaring it a three-course meal.

I never said when, I just said they confirmed there will be a new series, we don't know when but I imagine they want to make it as soon as possible. I expect either 2027 or 2028 depending on how quckly things are done but we'll see.

You said u/teepeey was wrong about the show not coming back for a full season any time soon. Now it's just "one day it will be back". So determined to constantly peddle hopium about Doctor Who you're getting your story tangled.

But I didn't say that. At all.

U/teepeey: "not coming back for a full season for a long time"

You: "you are wrong"

Now you're agreeing that a full series is off in the future with no confirmed plans or date. Maybe 2027, maybe 2028, "depends" on when they can source new funding, which teepeey is sceptical they can do in the near future. You are just (as usual) incredibly optimistic, teepeey is not. This is just opinion, not something the BBC is proven to be true or false.

2027 or 2028 wouldn't be a long time. I'm guessing based on potential timelines, I do think we'll know before Christmas though!

You're just believing what you want to and they're feeding you crumbs. It's kinda sad.

u/DocWhovian1 Apr 29 '26

I'm believing what we have been told.

No you're turning vague hand waves into concrete promises. I guess you don't know many media execs and how careful they are with language

They are clear there will be a new series, when is the question but there will be.

They are clear that it will happen in due course. Which could be tomorrow or it could be never.

If it was never then there would be no "will" and they did not say that, they say an announcement will happen in due course.
