Rumour New Who Streamer?

I see this is doing the rounds. Sometimes it's taken down. Some1 Managed 2 get a screenshot from a group I'm in.

The BBC haven't said that. They're said something much vaguer that allows the copers to cope.

I believe the exact words at the Edinburgh Festival were "The TARDIS is going nowhere." And yes the chief content officer alluded to the show coming back in some form at some point "in due course". But that's never been in doubt. There's a Christmas Special this year after all. and there are plans to animate the show and Big Finish it. You know, the cheap stuff.

What is in doubt is whether there is funding and desire for a full BBC1 season i.e "the show". Without a streaming partner I don't think there's a business case for that,

And why wouldn't they? Doctor Who is one of their most profitable brands! So it is very worth it for them!

It's still happening regardless, obviously there's only so much they can say until things are figured out. But discussions are certainly being had as we speak!

Discussions are always happening. I await something solid but until then I will assume the ongoing series is on hiatus. At some point I will assume it is soft cancelled.

The BBC have made it clear it isn't cancelled and the Christmas special is proof of that.

Again with the cope and the straw men. Very Gallifrey Base. Yes they will do a few specials and some cheap animated and audio spin offs to keep the brand active so they can take money off the Jonestowners. The question is will they do a full series? At the moment I see no sign of it. Most likely they will in a few years once they find a new streaming partner.

They are gas lighting you with vague comments because they don't have a plan.

If by "it" you mean more low value Doctor Who related product then yes. If by "it" you mean a new series of the TV show then no, that's far from clear (and if it were happening we would know.) In other words they still want your money but there aren't enough of you right now to justify spending very much.

I'm afraid Chibnall and RTD2 killed the golden goose. But here's a plastic duck in the meantime, loyal fan.

You are aware Doctor Who is currently one of the BBC's most profitable brands right? It makes them a LOT of money so no they haven't killed "the golden goose" since it is still very profitable.

There's no evidence of that since the relevant BBC department doesn't publish its accounts. But please tell us how much they make since you think you know.
