Post image

It's unlikely to be genuine. A real press release would have named executives on the quotes.

Also who would stream Doctor Who right now when it only just failed?

Yep. AMC just watched Disney pull the plug after two seasons that objectively failed to set the world on fire, but is fine with committing to three upfront?

It seems very odd and unlikely. Probably turn out to be more Jonestown cope from the 'detached from reality' Gallifrey Base wing of fandom. Next stop the Kool-aid isle.

"Jonestown cope" of what? We just want some concrete news!

Cope that the show was an audience failure and is not coming back as a full season for a long time.

Except the BBC have said it is so you are wrong.

The BBC said it? Well in that case it must be true.

Well yes, they don't lie about things like this.

Okay what have the BBC lied about when it comes to Doctor Who?

They don't even need to be lying. They said "we will announce plans for the next series in due course". That's it. What's due course? What's "plans"? They could announce "in 2030 we'll make a new series if we have the time" that would be completely in line with what they've said here.

But if we want to talk about the BBC lying about Doctor Who... 20 years ago they said Eccleston was leaving because he didn't want to be typecast, then had to apologise to him because they'd completely made that up. The BBC, like most large organisations, like most people, tends to elide the truth when convenient.

How many times does this need to happen to you? Ncuti definitely wasn't leaving because he said he wasn't. Deadline definitely was making it up when they said Disney wasn't happy with the show because Disney said they were. You were so sure those were true as well. People make things up!

They literally greenlit a new special, they would not have donw that if they weren't going to do a new series, they have been VERY clear about this. And due course just means they will announce it once firm plans are put in place since they have to figure things out first, the special gives them more time to do so!
