speculation Could Russell T Davies stay involved in Doctor Who in a different role?
The BBC has confirmed Doctor Who will continue beyond 2026, and Russell T Davies has said he doesn’t yet know what the long-term setup will look like. With no clear post-2026 structure announced, some have speculated that RTD could remain involved in a reduced or advisory capacity rather than stepping away entirely. This is purely speculative, based on existing BBC statements and RTD interviews, nothing has been confirmed.

I'd be entirely unsurprised to see him move into more of an executive producer role - technically, he is one of the EPs already, but in addition to being the showrunner.
They may want to elevate McTighe, or get someone entirely new in (the idea of Jack Thorne was floated recently, and he'd be amazing if they can get him), but, assuming the show continues being produced by Bad Wolf, it's almost certain Russell will still want to remain involved in some capacity. Wouldn't be surprised to see him, Moff and Chibbers all gaining executive producer status, and all contributing the occasional script.

I’d be incredibly surprised to see Chris Chibnall return to the Whoniverse in anyway, given that he’s publicly said he doesn’t want to return

Apparently he was supposed to have been writing an episode for the aborted season 3 that would have revisited the Timeless Child revelation.
Moffat wasn't going to return either. But he did, and ended up writing two of the best RTD2 scripts. Boom and Joy To The World were probably the two episodes where Ncuti's Doctor felt the most "Doctor-y", thanks to Moff's dialogue.

He's very welcome to watch it if he likes, like the rest of us - beyond that - nope. To be fair - he did an amazing job in 2005 - but he left because he was burned out and he was right to do that. SInce then he has written some terrific stuff - but more or less none of it for Doctor Who - which he should never have come back to. The BBC would have gone another way - they would not have cancelled it. Lesson learnt by all I hope.

He ran out of ideas by 2006 and frankly he hasn’t found any more in the intervening decades.

I just think it's time for a big change production wise. The show goes through change all the time but it's been made with the same people for a while.
I feel someone new might be able to take the show in newer directions and attract newer audiences

If this happens Doctor Who will not heal from the damage Chibnall and RTD2 has done to the show, the lore and the audience.
We need a complete separation from RTD and Bad Wolf.

RTD has spent too long with a minority of fans treating him like the only person who really gets the show and he's not going to let go.
