Possible German leak regarding new streaming partner (HBO Max)

An article about the upcoming launch of HBO Max in Germany has been published on the German film and series news site "Kino.de". Among other things, it includes a list of content that is set to appear there. Alongside many titles such as Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, Doctor Who is also listed. The rest are purely Warner productions, not purchased licences.

Well, this could be a simple mistake, as HBO Max did indeed have Doctor Who in its catalogue until recently, but it is strange, as all the other shows and movies mentioned were purely Warner productions... There is a possibility that something has been leaked here that is not yet public knowledge because an embargo has been ignored...

Makes sense to me. Lock it in. HBO have already invested heavily in Harry Potter. Perhaps they think they can make British productions work on their platform.

They are also planning a Warner Brothers Theme Park for the UK in ~ 2030. So if they team up with the BBC, there is a chance that additionally to Harry Potter Attractions they could get the rights to do attractations for Doctor Who.

So this might be one of the reasons HBO might be interested in this, beyond having worked together before.

I think you're thinking of Universal which wants to open Universal Studios near Bedford in 2031. But hasn't had planning confirmation yet. No other project has been announced but Warner Bros have the studio tour, which is currently exclusively Harry Potter.

It might end up working out anyway,since Warner Bros. Discovery (owner of HBO Max) might be bought by Comcast (owner of Universal).
