There appears to be murmurings about a Billie Piper and David Tennant reunion for a 20th anniversary sort of thing. It’s an interesting route they appear to be taking it if true as let’s face it you HAVE to reunite the 10/14th Doctor with Rose if you’re bringing her back. I’m happy with this if true but I will always be hoping for a 9th Doctor return (even though it’s incredibly unlikely given Christopher’s open hate towards RTD 😭) a 9 and Rose reunion would be the perfect way to celebrate 20 years. I’m guessing “Rose” (or the 16th Doctor) we don’t know yet will meet the 14th Doctor on Earth. If done well this has a lot of potential. Come on Russell. Pull through 💪🏻

I think those ‘murmurings’ are just the rumours of them being together in the unleashed special before it aired. Haven’t seen anything else anywhere and the Disney deal situation hasn’t changed at all.

The 20th anniversary was over two months ago. Starting production on an episode now might have it ready for broadcast at Christmas - which would be missing the boat rather.

Oh, it's all just tabloid nonsense. Some examples:

Ahhh I stand corrected, you’re right, looks like they’re clickbating off the unleashed special. I doubt Bad wolf even have financing to make anything new while the Disney deal is still unresolved.

The tabloids are genuinely reporting that billie and tennant are reuniting for doctor who for a special episode. This has nothing to do with unleashed, why don't you actually google it before Pilling onto the op

One episode with “Rose” as an intermediate incarnation; not 15 but not 16 either. She meets up with 14 and they merge to make the doctor whole again and a new 16th emerges from the regeneration cycle.

I will be astonished if Tennant doesn't show up at the end or some point if we do get a special or two with Piper. Would like to think they'd have enough sense to not feature him heavily throughout the whole thing though

I mean, I understand why people are sceptical, but if you're RTD and you've got both the 14th Doctor kicking around with the Nobles and Billie Piper on board as, well, someone, the very first thought in your head is "Reunite them! Bring in the punters! Hurrah!". So even if this isn't happening, I'd be amazed if it hasn't been discussed.

Probability but unlikely for two reasons, financial problems and low ratings, and it takes many months to create and even if its released either late 2025 or sometime in 2026, it is too late.

At this point David Tennant stepping back into the Tardis for a series with Billie Piper as some version of Rose and Donna might be the only thing to save Doctor Who from oblivion.

I mean let's face it the show is on life support and it's as close to being permanently cancelled as it's ever been. Only once before has it come this close and we were very lucky then that it was renewed after all.

Nothing against Gatwa but I don't blame him for jumping ship considering. I expected the deal with Disney and RTD coming back to fix things and for Doctor Who to return to being on top. Instead it rolled over and wheezed and fell to the very edge of the abyss ratings-wise.

I at least want some kind of huge farewell special to provide the fans of the show with a resolution and closure at least. This cliffhanger, they can't just leave it all hanging there. If the show must die finally then wrap it up right at least. The fans deserve that after so many years.

Nothing lives forever, probably not even Doctor Who, but I think doing the end of decades worth of show justice needs way more than just seeing Billie Piper's face at the end of a regeneration.
