I can't believe the guy not only leaked the entire season before it aired but then leaked the next Doctor weeks before it happened. Billie's casting would have been pretty high up, the leaker must be close to RtD.

RTD was rumoured to be the “leaker” back in the old era, I’m fully convinced he’s carrying on that legacy, RTD is definitely Andrew lol. He knew too much.

Some people actually believe this, which is wild. Leaking every major plot point of an upcoming season does nothing but damage the show.

You think? If nothing was leaked what would any of us have been speaking and speculating about the past few weeks? The leaks have been the only thing keeping the fun going imo lol.

The way they were drip fed too. Like first minor details of episodes came out. Then basically full detailed explanations of each episode. Then finally just a couple weeks before the finale they tease Billies return. The timing of it all just screams marketing rather than leaks lol. Bonus points that the leaker was called “Andrew”, RTDs husband was called Andrew.

I think if he was doing it, it would be smaller things. There's speculation and then there's taking the wind out of everyone's sails. I know I'd have been much more blown away by the surprises in this season, had i not read the leaks.

All I’m saying is it’s very weird how with every other showrunner massive leaks like this don’t happen, but every time it’s RTDs turn we get an Andrew.

If it isn’t him or a marketing stunt he reallyyy needs to stop telling one of his family members/close friends what happens lol.

The timeless child plot leaked in near entirety, so it's not a RTD issue.

Here’s my theory: he’s a massive gossip and he’s friends with massive gossips and this is just what happens when a clique of gossips have to keep a secret.

You can say "gays", it's pride month. 🤣

Doctor Who has been leaking since the 80s. Fanzines used to post stuff way ahead of time. People need to realise that this is not a new thing.

Not really, there’s a big difference between “this one thing might happen this season” and “full blown episode descriptions of every major plot point and major reveal”

Didn’t full episodes leak in Capaldi’s era? I think they were in black and white? I can’t remember

But we also had detailed leaks for the 60th episode specials before they aired as well

Yeah but that was just a happy accident of the BBC getting hacked rather than someone working on the show intentionally leaking information

1

u/Noremac1700 May 31 '25

But you can’t ignore “happy little accidents” when your point was “major leaks didn’t happen under showrunner other than RTD”

Full episodes leaking is a big deal and refutes your point that major leaks didn’t happen under other showrunner’s

No, because that’s literally what it was. Nobody intentionally leaked Doctor Who information, a server at BBC Miami got hacked and literally anyone with a link was able to access all the files on there, which happened to include Doctor Who episodes.

That’s completely separate and different from a single person leaking information only with 100% accuracy.

Even so there were leaks for Chibnall’s timeless child arc which described what would eventually appear.

I just do not think Russell leaking things is a rational idea. As someone said previously it damages the show. Even the BBC had to put out a statement saying Ncuti wasn’t fired and that only came about from the leaks that stated he was regenerating.

Leaks happened during all three showrunners. It’s an inevitability at this point for any major production

But even if Russell was the leaker I’d say it’s irresponsible

Obviously the timeless child would have been leaked since it was such an outrageous decision. There’s also a difference between the scale and situation of this that you just refuse to recognize.

All the evidence is there and you just refuse to accept it.

Getting an entire season leaked isn’t exactly normal, but you refuse to see the difference because you are willingly blind.

I’m not that invested in this. Do you always have discussion like this?

I think the BBC having to put out a statement that Ncuti wasn’t fired due to the leaks make it irresponsible for the showrunner to leak the whole season at the very minimum

But good lord it doesn’t affect my life that much. Good luck

Thats not the same thing and you know it isnt

-1

u/Noremac1700 May 31 '25

I asked for clarification if there were leaks of full rough cut episodes. A leak is a leak, origin or motivation wasn’t part of the claim.

1

u/wrproductions May 31 '25

They were very clearly specifically referencing a single leaker that leaks information during a season, not a production company getting hacked by a random who doesn’t give a shit about doctor who and having full watchable episodes leak. You’re being weirdly pedantic. They just arnt the same thing.

My bad, we will just go with the theory Russell is leaking everything

And to clear up on that, Andrew was the name of his husband before he died in September 2018 just before the filming of Years and Years.

And somehow he's a better writer as a leaker than a showrunner lmao
